Disneyland show?

They asked for feedback and I'll email them the feedback, but might as well give it here as well.

There was plenty to fix about the old show. It was often to rigid with the show structure and there was a level of disorganization and, poor audio, etc. from everyone calling in for different locations. But the old team brought the same level balance of insight, personal experience, love and cynicism to DLR than Pete and his gang bring to the WDW podcasts.

Pete is a better broadcaster than Tom, I generally enjoy Pete as a show host (I quit listening to Best and Worst shortly after he handed off the reins), but he just doesn't have the same level of experience and exposure to DLR, and the recorded format isn't able to meet the week-to-week news cycle of happens around the parks. And, honestly, topics like "WDW vs. DLR attractions" have been done to death on previous DIS podcasts (multiple times this year alone), blogs, etc.

Was it horrible? No. I'm sure they will tweak, I doubt Pete and gang feel the show is where they want it to be. I'll pop back and listen in a month or so to see how they adjust. But, right now, I think it is totally devoid of the insight that the old show brought and that Pete brings to WDW, there was nothing about the first show that was truly timely/topical; it's ... generic.

I must admit that I was not - and am still not - a huge fan of the Pixar Pier project as a whole. And at first I wasn't really excited about the Incredicoaster as I enjoyed California Screamin' as it was. That said, everything I have seen so far makes it look like it will be a really fun overlay and they are adding in the IP and show scene parts in a really interesting way (at least potentially) and I am now really looking forward to the ride
Oh I agree! I think the problem was they introduced it at D23 and compared to the other announcements it felt phoned in in comparison. Now that it is here, less then a year later and with the huge success of GOTG mission breakout retheme I am way excited, not enough to buy a $299 party ticket...but excited.

I really enjoyed the old show format. It also seemed like it had a pretty low overhead. Can they just produce a supplemental 20 minute Disneyland news/rapid fire podcast? Pete can do his feature show but why not bring the old gang on in pairs once a week? I can't see it cannibalizing the audience from YouTube if it is podcast only.

The new show is good but the problem is the cast will never be able to bring the knowledge that the old cast brought to the show and time is not going to change that. Pete owns a travel company and has been going to Disneyland for years but he has lived in Florida so its just not possible for him to know that much about Disneyland. The other members of the cast seem nice and knowledgable about current events but they just have not been alive long enough to know that much. At one point they talked about a cartoon they watched in the 90s when they were kids. The old podcast all lived in California and had been regularly going to Disneyland for many, many years. Dare I say longer than most of the new cast has been alive. I really enjoyed their perspective and history they brought to the old show much more and wish Pete would reconsider things. Or maybe have this new show on video with the new cast, but keep the old podcast with the old cast the way it was. And this is not to knock the new cast. Its just they can't frame things within the historical context in the manner the old cast did that I enjoyed much more.

Disappointed that not one member of the Disneyland team (Tom, Mary Jo, Nancy, Tony) was on the first episode. Now make that the first
two episodes. The four of them are the knowledge base for reporting about the Disneyland Resort. Basically, the Disneyland edition of the DIS Unplugged has been taken away from the four of them. It's evident that this show will not have the four of them on it at the same time. Without them this part of the DIS holds no interest in me any more.

I agree with keeping the new video format as is and have Tom, Mary Jo, Nancy, and Tony continue bringing the latest Disneyland news and Day 6 episodes via Mixlr like in the past.

I do think the old version had a certain charm. Tom and Tony together were hilarious and Nancy interjecting was full of sass. Mary Jo was always so positive and informative. Michael was a joy to listen to and Wayne! Our first historian. They had a family vibe that I really enjoyed listening to while doing housework or out for a walk.
I can see why they would want to change things up with all the big things coming in to the park and the increased competition with other vloggers. I watched the new show last night and really enjoyed it. I think Katrina and Tyler are great on camera and have a good energy. I hope we get to see our old 'friends' from the OG though!

Long live Global Hygiene Revolution!

Now how are we going to get info on the Two Small Tarts reunion?

Not sure if they mentioned there is also now a Blue Bayou Fantasmic lunch offering, for $59 with a slightly different menu but you still get a seat cushion and the same viewing area. The first showing with fireworks depends on reservations time.
I think this whole show was the vlog that Ryno mentioned. And...time crunch, yes you have two companies to run. Sorry but you guys wouldn’t rehash a dining show episode for 30 minutes and call it a Tuesday show. Two weeks in and they are already struggling to produce a full show.
Please Pete, this is so disappointing. Why did you do this? Can we help fund our news show? Please give us some options.
I’m afraid they’ll spend just enough time talking WDW to get the YouTube hits so the Disneyland fans can’t get improvements. Then the WDW fans will realize it’s mainly negative, so far inferior mobile ordering, inferior F!, three inferior rides (spoiler we will easily take Buzz, IASW, TT vs RRS, ToT vs GOTG, IJ vs Dino, Auto vs TS etc) and I guess they’ll either plan a trip to DL or quit subjecting themselves.

Wouldn't be surprised if the original Disneyland crew have been given the boot perminantly

With the exception of Tony, all of the previous Disneyland Podcast group has appeared on the Best & Worst of Disneyland videos. Additionally Michael still has the Connecting with Walt podcast. Given how much Tony has traveled in the past and the time needed to pre-record the Best & Worst, schedules may not mesh up. Pete has assured us that members of the Disneyland team, besides Tyler and Katrina, will appear on the reformatted Disneyland show.

I totally agree with this. After having time to ponder over the new segment format and see two episodes, the news segment is what is missing for me. While I understand the news can get outdated real quickly, maybe Pete and team should just incorporate more Disneyland news into the Tuesday show. Or as suggested a supplemental podcast that covers and discusses the news items. Other podcasts/YouTubber's I follow moved to this format once they realized that people wanted news as well as an updated format of segment/topics.

Yeah I don’t get hyping a big relaunch of the show and claim it’s for improvements and then week 2 is a marked slide down from week 1 which was pretty weak itself.

The show shouldn’t be split coasts as it needs a seperate team that knows Disneyland and can carry on in depth conversations. If you want to do occasional shows with both teams to discuss joint issues that’s great but don’t water down the content for the sake of screen time. Is there that much money in YouTube ad potential now?

Tom continues to do the Wednesday DIS Daily Fix and he's one of the editors. He, Nancy, and Mary Jo have made one or more appearances on the Best and Worst of Disneyland show. Tony has not been present since December.

The new show is just becoming Pete and Rino talk about Disneyland every week with a random cast of pel, from the west coats. I really Don't think they should be hosting it at all. Let them be guest and have the new guy and his partner host it if they don't want to have the otrifganl team back every week. I also really didn't care for Craig's justification of the new format on the recent episode of connecting with Walt it felt like he was slapping all of the fans in the face with his crap about video and how they are changing the show to be more about planning. If thats the case when will, the Orlando show stop talking about the news and have random ridiculous overused segments in it insted and alos switch to being pre-recorded.
You can be upset about my justification, but it’s Pete’s master plan that I was explaining. Would you tell him to his face that you don’t care for his “justification”? Probably not. Maybe on the boards or email, but that’s probably it.

what an odd things to say

How is that odd? Someone is criticizing me for explaining why Pete made a decision and I thought the saying was don’t shoot the messenger. Plus, most people then change their thoughts and minds when they know it comes from Pete because they respect him so much. The fact is, and please take me at my word on this, if you’re unhappy with the Disneyland Show, the best way to voice your opinion is by not watching or listening. Numbers sometimes speak louder than words.
