The tomato chunks were a bit bigger than I would've liked, but overall this was good. I do like the omelet stations at the Universal hotels because they make huge omelets, it just takes a bit longer so you have to be careful about when you go up to the stations because you don't want your other food to get cold.
I love omelet stations on buffets but they do take forever

Frozen Hot Chocolate-A Frozen Concoction of Valrhona Chocolate with a Whisper of Cinnamon

Sadly, it did not live up to the hype. It just tasted like a slushie made of chocolate syrup, and I don't really like chocolate syrup. I'm not sure what I expected it to be, but that wasn't it.
So disappointing it didn't taste good because it looks amazing

"The Elvis" French Toast -Baguette Slices, Bananas, Peanut Butter, Caramel Sauce

This was so good! It tasted like a peanut butter and banana sandwich with caramel on top :p I love peanut butter and bananas together, and I don't tend to eat one without the other.
Yum!! Bananas, peanut butter and caramel is basically my version of heaven.

I think overall it would've been better to go to Islands in our hotel. We went in September (so the review was in TR I did on the Universal boards instead of in a DTR), but the meal was really good and the breakfast buffet was super extensive with unlimited POG juice :thumbsup2 (I noticed The Kitchen didn't have juices on the buffet though you could order them but POG juice was not one of them). Plus it turned out to be a character meal on that day which was fun. Here's a little throwback for those that haven't seen that TR:
Islands is in Royal Pacific right? I do remember your review from that one and it looked really good. I'll have to remember that because I definitely want to stay at Royal Pacific whenever I finally get back to Universal.

Shipwrecked Loaded Nachos - Black Beans, Cheddar Cheese Fondue, Sour Cream, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, Shredded Lettuce, Scallions, and choice of Grilled Chicken or Seasoned Beef

I need these nachos!!!

On the way back to the table we witnessed a large group (of adults) throw those popping/smoking noisemakers on the ground while cheering and yelling. A lot of people looked startled and a few people said they thought they heard gunshots. I don't really know why the waiters let them do something so disruptive that could be mistaken for gunshots in a crowded restaurant.
Wait in the restaurant or outside? I mean not that outside is any better but who would let them do that inside.
I'm sorry your brunch wasn't as good as last year. We had it booked for Nov. but then had to change our dates from Mon-Mon so now I'm looking for one on the Sunday before we leave but no luck yet. I think you're the first negative review I've seen of it, but I really hope it doesn't become a normal occurrence.

At this point I believe there were grits (with the option to add cheese), and oatmeal. Unfortunately when I went to lift the lid and take a picture the lid for the grits went flying off and hit everything on the way down. I was super embarrassed especially because someone who works there had to come over, and then I felt like he was watching me the whole time after so I didn't start recording again right away.

Yeah, that sounds like something I would do! And perfect gif for it!

At the end of the meal we felt annoyed. From start to finish we were only in the restaurant for about an hour which felt really rushed considering last year we probably spent about 2+ hours, the restaurant was so overcrowded we were practically sitting with the next table, the waitress was never present, the food was only okay, there wasn't much in the way of accommodation for Josh's allergy, and this meal is pretty expensive; definitely one of the most expensive we booked. The only reason we'd book something so expensive is because we think it's worth it, and we didn't feel that way at all when we finished. We felt like when the popularity increased they decided to put more emphasis on booking as many people as possible, and turning over tables as quickly as possible which turned this from a dining experience that seemed well worth the money into just an average meal that costs $80 per person. We don't expect special treatment anywhere, but every signature we've been to (barring this meal) we've had great service, and usually if there aren't a ton of GF options they offer to modify something or even create something for Josh (they've done this even in non signature restaurants too) which is part of why we love dining at Disney.
Argh, that is just not fun at all.

I definitely wanted to love this meal, but I don't see us going back for brunch in the future. We have heard great things about the dinner lately, so maybe we'll try that out in the future. It's also is a beautiful restaurant, and I would love to go back and see HEA from the observation deck sometime in the future (we didn't end up going back that night because the rain didn't let up until later in the day so we didn't get to epcot until after 5 pm, and we knew we'd see HEA later in the week too)
I think in December I'm going to go and just get dessert. Maybe a sushi roll, but it seems super pricey for one roll!

I wasn't going to get this after hearing the reviews, apparently they really only served good ones to the vloggers who went on day 1, but I decided to try it when we got to the booth. I'm not big on ham, and the ham was definitely removable since it was barely attached to the roll but there wasn't much flavor without it. As much as I love cheesy bread, this was only okay. It wasn’t well made or melted much, and I'm almost 100% sure that was not a pretzel roll it was served on that day, but maybe they ran out? It didn't look or taste like one, and Josh was surprised to hear that's what it was supposed to be.
That's annoying that they never even bothered to listen to complaints over the months. Yours does look like more ham than the one I had, but that roll doesn't look quite pretzely enough!

And another because I was trying to copy the picture on this shirt since I put it on especially for doughnut eating :rotfl:
I've done the same! Outfits planned around dining choices are always a good idea :thumbsup2

I live in Portland; although I'm not a fan of Voodoo Doughnut, I like the interior of that Citywalk store and the throne outside, very cool.

Breadbox looks like a nice variation on a typical sandwich shop.

I loved my Vodoo doll donut it was so good, and I agree the chocolate on the outside was really creamy, not dry at all!

Cute picture imitating Homer!

I am very excited try Voodoo when we go to CityWalk, I am anticipating them being too sweet, but there choices seem so interesting that I can't pass it up ;)

I love voodoo donuts I didn't know they were there! I'll have to check it out the next time I'm up there.

There's even a doughnut throne out front made up of most the doughnuts they sell!

Love those photos! How you are all regal and Josh is just...Josh!

I am not a doughnut lover, but this place looked and sounded really cool so I knew I'd have to try one. (We mainly have Dunkin' in our area and while I have a Boston Cream if my boss brings in donuts I never go out of my way to have one, and we had a Krispy Kreme but I really didn't like those). My main issue with doughnuts is that they're just sugary bread, and I really only like the ones with custard or cream inside them and only occasionally.
I also have a love-hate relationship with donuts. There is a mom & pop near my house and it is sooo good! Like little pillows. And super sweet and soft; I've never had donuts like that anywhere else. So I've sort of been spoiled for life, because now I don't eat donuts anywhere but there! On occasion I'll pick up Krispy Kreme for the office if I'm nearby (that way I keep them liking me), but besides that I don't bother with them!

VooDoo Donuts looks fun! I don't normally eat donuts but I would def would have to try one there!

I hope you liked some Flower and Garden items later in the trip! It is kind of a bummer that they make some of the items really good for the bloggers. I know it is hard to make many of them all day long but still. That is the point.

I've read good reviews on the Breadbox but haven't been yet. Maybe in November I can try one while DD get's her Panda Express
VooDoo Donuts sadly wasn't open yet when we were there in March can't wait to try it and look around

Haha! Great picture! I don't normally love donuts either, but I think I'd have to try those. Just like I don't normally drink milkshakes but I had to get one at Toothsome! My DS would do some damage in there :-)

Yeah, it's a pretty cool QS option.

:rotfl: thank you!

Doughnuts are definitely too sweet I agree, but it's such a cool place!

Now I'm sold

Josh looks pretty comfortable on that throne, perhaps he's secretly royalty... :ssst:

 I think so too!

My dream... :rotfl:

I haven't paid attention to Breadbox, I'll have to check out the menu! The only QS places we at last year were the WWoHP ones.

It's a really good option! I'm not the biggest fan of Universal QS but this would be my top recommendation.

Yes! They just opened it shortly before our trip.

I did find more things the second time we went! I usually feel like things generally look the same, but with that pretzel bread it seems like it changed a lot since the preview.

:rotfl: thank you! I feel the exact same way! I don't really like milkshakes typically either but I tried one at Toothsome. Although I really enjoyed the milkshake I had because the texture was different than a regular milkshake.
