Twin bed?

Hi, all - I’m working out the details for booking Mira Costa and have a question about bed size. We have two adults and a 6 year old. All availability that comes up is a “twin bed + trundle”. Is the twin actually big enough for two adults? Or maybe one adult and kid? It says the room sleeps 3 and I selected the bed option for the kid, not bedshare.

Thanks for any help!

In Japan, twin bed means 2 beds, not "twin size" like in the U.S. At the MiraCosta, the 2 beds are about what we would call "full size". I was really confused too when I first started researching. :)

Thank you! I’m kind of tempted to book a room with triples so we all have a “twin” bed of our own. We sleep in a king and a full would be tight for two adults.

You wouldn't have to share the full sized bed. You would have 2 full sized beds, one for each adult. Plus the trundle for the kid.

That makes sense. I meant to say in my earlier post that the idea of booking the triples was before I knew the twin bed arrangement, as I just wanted to be sure of getting enough beds that could sleep all of us. But now I know the twin + trundle will work.

If a double + trundle is available, is that a better choice?

We weren't in a double room, so I'm not sure how big that bed is. It might be similar to a queen size. So depends if you prefer more sleeping space (get the twin room) or if you prefer to sleep together (get the double room). :)

Disney may be different but in Japan, often double rooms are smaller than a two twin room. I'd opt for the 2 twin over one double. The one double is where you'll run into trying to squeeze two adults on a smallish full bed. The bed designations in Japan make my head spin.

Please be careful when booking in Tokyo. I can't speak for the MiraCosta because it was sold out before our trip but most rooms in Tokyo area and other parts of Japan we visited have only twin bed options and some don't call it that. Our most recent trip we had twin beds in 4 different hotels. We had to get a total of 4 beds for our family of four, there was no way we could have slept in one of those even if measurements for some are slightly wider than a U.S. standard twin.

I emailed my potential hotels and asked for bed dimensions. That is truly the only way to be sure!

We stayed at MiraCosta earlier this year in a twin room - the twin beds definitely are not large enough for 2 adults to squeeze into 1 bed (unless both adults are very small I suppose). They are smaller than a full/double. We were worried about booking the double room b/c we weren't sure how big their doubles are, so we went with the twin room to be safe.

Thanks for all of the info! Looks like a twin + trundle is the way to go, or even a triple. Now I’m torn between Mira Costa and a character room at the DLH....

This also made me double-check our res for the stay after Disneyland. Fortunately I booked a king bed for that hotel!
