Concerned About Being an AP

I read all the post here about upgrading our 9 day park hoppers to the Platinum Annual Pass and it seems that if we do, our next vacation will cost so much less (Room Only) plus all the perks. This will also give us a reason to visit more for maybe a weekend trip here and there. So I told a friend about upgrading and he told me that CM's treat AP holders a little different as in not as good as regular guest. Is this true? We talked in depth why and I sorta get what he was saying because we did have an encounter with a group of AP holders (I knew this because of one guys shirt) Anyway, they totally ruined COP for our family and many others by reciting word for word the entire ride. The CM did offer to let us back on with no wait even though it had a short line but what's the point? I really want to get the AP's but don't want to fall into "That Crowd" and be looked upon in any certain way. Thoughts?

Nope.

About 99% of CMs would have no idea who is an AP holder and who is not.

I have been an AP for over 25 years and never have I been treated in a bad way, in fact I am not sure how CM's would know unless you are making a purchase and getting your AP discount.

DW and I got our APs many years ago after years of short, yearly vacations and have never noticed any difference. We are now Disney snowbirds and wander through the parks frequently. As the previous posters noted, how would most CMs know? Except when you use your AP card for a discount or enter through the passholder tapstile.

Sorry that an AP group ruined the CoP for you. I have never noticed any bad AP behavior, quite the opposite in fact. Most of the AP holders we have met lean more towards sharing the knowledge and helping others enjoy the parks.

So go ahead and get that AP. And get ready to enjoy a few more visits to WDW.

Don't see why it would be a problem unless you act entitled and tell everyone in earshot, "we should have ________________ because we're AP!" ;)

Been an AP holder for about 10 years and I have never been treated poorly by a CM nor felt that I was being treated differently than anyone else.

You will not be treated differently whatsoever. They can't even tell your an AP unless you have the ticket in like your lanyard or getting a discount, etc. We use our AP discount a lot, and non of the CMs get annoyed or anything. Some cast members just have an off day...
You really should go for an AP though. So many perks like that room discount ;), restaurant discounts, free merchandise, discounted disney merchandise, and so much more. Oh and can we not forget the APs have their own line to get into the parks? :cool1:

Good to know! I think we have decided to upgrade our tickets to AP. One question, I was told we can do it on our last day even after we used our tickets and we can wait to activate it on our next visit. is this true?

I would call Disney about that, I know you upgrade or even downgrade AP's, but I haven't heard of someone upgrading with a ticket.

You can wait until your last day to upgrade...not sure why you would because if you do it your first day, you can start getting the discounts right away.
I believe the pass would expire based on the first day the tickets were used, but I could be wrong.
There is a whole thread about ticket upgrades.

ETA: I would also upgrade the first day in the park for Memory Maker photos to be loaded correctly and free!

NO. Your AP would be dated as the first day you used your original tickets since you're upgrading using those tickets.
