Disney announces new Ticket system for WDW

I don't understand - do you all buy park tickets before you know when you are going or something? We don't buy until our trip dates are solid - meaning work approved and all.
I'm an annual pass person so it doesn't affect me, but just saying it's good that they give some leeway for those like like days off and don't know which days those would be going in. And it's without an upcharge. I also go without any plans whatsoever and last minute quite often.

I believe the MDE issues were due to the integration of this.

Oh I know -- but I am insinuating that I don't think finishing this integration is going to go smoothly, and I also think phone line CMs are going to get complaints about how it's too complicated to plan a trip. I hope it doesn't, and once they really activate this that the MDE issues will be repaired.

So you mean people who might not buy tickets for their length of stay, I get it.

We have it easier because we just buy hoppers from arrival day to the day before we leave. :)

Well.... Annual Passes just became a cheaper option

Yup, have to imagine Disney wanted to "push" people towards APs, get that money up front. And then, like another poster stated, they will raise the price of APs to get more $....

There is a way to sort of “work” the system. Let’s say you wank to go Oct. 5-8. You have 7 days to use those tickets. Oct. 5th may cost $89 but Oct. 4th is $85. Select Oct. 4th because then each day of your ticket is $85 instead of $89 saving you money.
How will that work with a package though? If my resort check in date is October 5th, would I be able to select Oct. 4th as the start date for tickets?

This seems like a logistical nightmare...

From WDWNT:

Tickets related to a particular park will be retired as part of these changes, so there will be no more 1-day Magic Kingdom-only tickets offered. Everything is back to one price.

Under the new system, 1-Day base tickets are valid for admission on the specific start date selected. Multi-day tickets are valid for admission beginning on the start date selected and must be used within a limited time period, as indicated below:

Ticket Duration Valid Use Period
1-Day Ticket Only the start date selected
2-Day Ticket Any 2 days within 4 days beginning on the start date
3-Day Ticket Any 3 days within 5 days beginning on the start date
4-Day Ticket Any 4 days within 7 days beginning on the start date
5-Day Ticket Any 5 days within 8 days beginning on the start date
6-Day Ticket Any 6 days within 9 days beginning on the start date
7-Day Ticket Any 7 days within 10 days beginning on the start date
8-Day Ticket Any 8 days within 12 days beginning on the start date
9-Day Ticket Any 9 days within 13 days beginning on the start date
10-Day Ticket Any 10 days within 14 days beginning on the start date

That’s a good question that I’m not sure we have the answer too yet. I can’t see them only letting you buy for your resort stay though. What if that day before I’m staying off site before I move on site and still want to go to the parks.

I probably missed something, but are we still going to be able to buy a 'Park Hopper' option? Does anyone know?

Can anyone surmise for me, if the start date of my ticket states the hopper add on is $55 per ticket - am I paying that extra $55 each day of my stay? And if yes, is that the way it is now, or is it a flat fee for hopper?

thanks!
