What would you do for this dance costume?

I had this dance costume in the link above. We did a tap routine to the song “Let’s Go To The Movies” from the movie Annie. But I’m just curious, if you were a dance teacher what song would you choose for this costume and what style of dance to go with it?
Looks like a ice skater outfit. Maybe something like the theme from "Ice Castles". Some sort of smooth dance....waltz-style?

Tap or Kick number. Classic style.
I want to be a Rockette is actually a great song for it too.

For dance style I’d go with tap or jazz/musical theater. Some songs I can think of off the top of my head: “42nd St.”, “Broadway Melody” (Singin’ in the Rain), “Hot Honey Rag” (Chicago) and “One” (A Chorus Line).

I have recently retired from owning my own dance studio. I miss ordering costumes, teaching and the choreography for so many years.

I would use that costume for tap. Sone music i might use:
Lullaby Of Broadway
Broadway Melody
Sing, Sing, Sing
It Don't Mean A Thing
Steppin' Out With My Baby
Moon Glow
Puttin' On The Ritz

If I were a dance teacher I would let the student do whatever they want and then charge them a STUPID amount of money for the weekly lesson, including jacking up the price of the costume.

Tap, jazz, or musical theater. My daughter would of loved to dance to a song from Burlesque. But, her teacher would never approve it. Yet timber was allowed.

That was so rude!
As a parent of a child who was in dance for ten years, it got very tiring seeing my money go toward a dance costume picked for her class that she got to wear only for the recital (and maybe competitions). They are like bridesmaids dresses. Never wear them again. That was the nice thing about marching band or football -- you use the uniform over and over and over. And heck, marching band uniforms got reused by other students later!

Add on top of that the fact that you pay for lessons and then the recital on top of that. And tickets to competitions where you see your child dance once or twice for a few minutes each, but the competition is like 100 miles away and is hours long, and you can't leave because you provided the transportation for your child and have to wait for awards.

But yes, I was being rude. I'm sure all the teacher here are awesome. I just found my entire experience in the dance world to be nothing but a hassle.

Yeah, I was gonna say, the name of the dress is an actual song...check it out on You Tube. That would be cute! Or “Broadway Baby”.

OMG, not Broadway Baby again! I think in the years my girls were in dance Broadway Baby was in three recitals.

I agree, and I would possibly add Hit the Road Jack.

My daughter had a similar costume once (not exact) and they did a tap routine to "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" (also from Annie.) It was cute.

When my daughter was in about 5th grade, her dance class wore a costume very similar to this (it was more teal than this blue) for their tap number, their first year in heels. The song the teacher chose was "Making Memories" by the Sherman Brothers. Almost every song in the show that year was Disney related.
