Who here is old as dirt like me and remembers Family Affair!?

i remember an issue of Mad magazine that had a Family Affair parody in it. They spelled out the kids as saying "Uncle Beel - Uncle Beel".

Yes! I used to watch the whole show and then hide behind a big armchair during the credits.

Sorry, I deleted the video because I thought it might be off-topic, but, here, I’ll repost the freaky alien who made us hide behind the armchair!

Watching Family Affair, even in the original run, doesn't make anyone as old as dirt.

First run I Love Lucy episodes, on the other hand...

Well I think the early tv shows debuted in the 1940’s, so some posters might even have been around for them. For them, I Love Lucy would be one of those new upstart shows that came along.

I always loved the patio/balcony. I can't imagine what a 4 bedroom Manhattan apartment would cost.

Two episodes I remember well. Juanita, the little deaf girl and lost in Spain.

those were before even i was born; and they don't count because they're not on TVLand or Hallmark ;)

I loved that show!
I never had the doll, but I just looked it up online -- today you can buy a 50th anniversary edition for $99. I don't know that I would've said "creepy" without prompting, but the smile is more of a smirk, and I suppose it could be saying, "Why, yes, I do have a large knife in my pocket." The doll's face is a combination of child and grandma -- young and old. Personally, I had a Holly Hobby doll. And the sheets to match.

I remember it being on TV in first run, but I *hated* that show. For some reason, Sebastian Cabot always struck me as sinister. (I also tended to dislike shows where kids' parents were AWOL so they ended up farmed out to a relative.)

A cousin of mine was obsessed with her Mrs. Beasley doll; every photo of her before age 6 is also a photo of the doll.

I recently saw a Mrs. Beasley doll in a museum exhibit; it apparently was one of the first TV tie-ins marketed to girls, and held the record for the American all-time best-selling doll until the Cabbage Patch craze.
