Not sure what the word is on the street about this movie, but I saw it last night with my 2 sons. I grew up listening to Queen, but I was born in 1968, so I was too young to remember their up and coming years. I remember Freddie Mercury's death and the impact it had. I did not know much about the band, their relationship, or even how they came to be.

So with that said, I loved the movie. I had no idea that Freddie was Indian. That struck me for some reason. The fact that he changed his name, not just for a stage name, but legally changed it was interesting. The music....OH THE MUSIC!!! They need to release a sing along version. 1/2 the theater was singing along to all the songs, it was great!

All in all, the movie makes me want to do more research on the band, and their relationships, etc. Very interesting movie.

One thing that stood out to me, is another thing I was not aware of. I know it was the 70's/80's and back then, you just didn't come out and say you were gay, but when Freddie came out, I just assumed he had known he was gay his whole life. The fact that he met a woman he found attractive, had a sexual relationship with her, asked her to marry him when he was in his mid-20's floored me. The movie indicates that he didn't realize he was attracted to men until he started traveling with the band.

Good movie.

Thanks for the review, I plan to see this next week so I’m glad to hear it’s good!

I'm gonna wait until it's released for home viewing but I'm looking forward to watching it. Thanks for the review and reminding me that it's finally been released.

I've seen some not so favorable reviews but dh and I plan on seeing it anyway. I'm glad to hear at least some people loved it.

I'm another who will wait until it's available for home viewing.

I learned decades ago that he was born in Zanzibar (Tanzania) and during a political revolution there he fled with his family to England.

I loved Queen, I was a young teen when they hit it big time, kind of funny, being a kid from the Midwest, I knew being Gay was a real thing but I didnt think anyone really was, even if the band gave me a clue in there name "queen" lol

Just in case any Queen fans don't know,Bohemian Rhapsody is always part of one of British Revolution's sets(and is often heard on the Pop Century buses-we joined in a great Bohemian Rhapsody sing-a-long returning to POP from MK late one night.:)).

Back in 1999, there used to be a river cruise in Animal Kingdom. On that boat, they played We Will Rock You/ We are The Champions. I think they were playing Radio Disney. My DS was 2 years 11 months old, had been speaking full sentences since he was 18 months old. He LOVED singing!!! He would sing along to every song he heard. I have him on video, leaning on the railing of the boat, as we float down the river, singing at the top of his little lungs,"WE WILL WE WILL FOCK YOU!" instead of an R sound for ROCK, he was saying an F sound. I kept trying to correct him, but he heard the F sound, so that's what he sang. My DH was beside himself with laughter.

I loved it! Took my 13 year old to see it - he's been begging for weeks. We are pretty major fans - was SO impressed with Rami Malek. It's not a super true version of events, but it's really entertaining

Saw it this morning and loved it.

Had stop myself several times from concentrating on how much Gwilym Lee looked like Brian May.

The scene in the EMI office about the potential of Bohemian Rhapsody got more and more laughs as more and more people realized who was playing the record company executive.

We went to see it this afternoon, and all loved it, too. Great acting by everyone, especially Rami Malek. I know they took some artistic liberties with the story, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the movie. I spent the entire evening doing some fact checking for myself, learning more about Queen and Freddie Mercury, and watching the entire Live Aid performance on You Tube. I still have my Night at the Opera LP that was a birthday gift to me back in the 70's.

I came straight home and watched the real Live Aid performance too! They accuracy was crazy, right down to the Pepsi cups on the piano.

Loved the movie...what a legend!

I was watching an interview with the actor who plays him yesterday. He said that Freddie always described that woman as the love of his life (even after he came out) and that she’s the only one today who knows where his ashes are.

That’s awesome. Had to be fun

We are seeing it Monday. Can’t wait! I remember the Live Aid performance well. I was supposed to go (to Philadelphia) but my parents planned a camping trip for that weekend. I watched it on a tiny little TV at the campground with a bunch of other teens. So bummed I didn’t go!

I'll eventually see the film, but I'm not in any rush.

Ticket stub from almost 40 years ago. I don't remember if $8.50 was considered expensive for a concert ticket in those days. This was right after the Jazz album was released. There were four naked women riding bicycles on stage while the band sang "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Bicycle Race."
