Best strategy to ride Slinky Dog in Early Dec without FP?

Despite my best efforts, I couldn't get fast passes for the Slinky Dog coaster for our 3 person trip in early December. Anybody have advice about the best time(s) during the day to minimize the wait? (BTW - We'd like to leave Hollywood Studios before closing because we have somewhere else we need to be that day, so just before closing would not work for us.)

Do fast passes ever become available after the first mad rush for them? I've been checking back in every once in awhile, but don't have a lot of confidence that this will work.

Thanks!

I'd refresh the night before to try to find a FP. Each of the last 2 nights I've found SDD FP's for the next day for 3 people.

Get there about 45 minutes before park opens and go there first you should be fine then

Keep attempting to modify an existing FastPass. I wasn't able to get SDD at 64 days out, but I kept attempting to modify my Alien Swirling Saucers. At about 40 days out, I was able to change it to SDD.

That’s too bad. I checked the Touring Plans stats from yesterday for an example and the wait at 7:30 pm was 30 minutes. Shortest wait of the day.

Do you have to subscribe to their site in order to get that info? If not, where exactly do you find it?

You don't need a subscription for this part of their site. Pick your park, then click "Planning Your Day" then "Wait Times".

From here, you can see the wait times from prior days for any attraction. For example, I'm looking at FoP right now and I see that the posted wait time at 7:30 pm yesterday was 70 minutes with an actual wait time of 40 minutes. For comparison purposes, the wait was 180 minutes shortly after the park opened.

It is very typical to see that the headliners are by far the busiest right after the park opens with the shortest lines closer to closing time.

The end of the night is not only the best time to experience the ride but also to have lower wait times. Doesn't help much if you want to experience other nighttime entertainment or have dining plans elsewhere. Would it be difficult to change your plans around?

If you have the extra money, we did the Early Morning Magic ticketed event. It was AMAZING! We rode Slinky Dog Dash six times, Toy Store Mania, three times, and got pictures with the characters. We could have ridden more times if we hadn’t stood in line for Woody and Jessie. We chose not to do the Alien Saucer ride because I can’t handle rides that spin at all. We then ate breakfast at the provided buffet. I can’t stress enough how much we enjoyed this event. We used the tips provided on a thread in this forum, so we knew to get there early and eat AFTER the event. We were led back into Toy Srory Land at 7:15 am. Even though the mass of regular entry people were led back at 8:45, we were allowed through the FastPass line with our wristbands until 9:00. We got two extra rides in at Slinky Dog between 8:45 and 9:00.

We have ridden Slinky dog 3 different times since opening without fast passes. July, September and October. All 3 times have been in the evening after 7:30 and under 30 minute waits each time.

Keep trying. Check often. All else fails, RD it-get there very early. We’re going in early December and were lucky enough to get FPs for everyone in our party of 9 (minus my toddler). We could only get 5 initially and had to keep checking and adjusting til we got them all.

Keep checking for FPs. They do become available.
Otherwise, its RD. Be through security and in line at least 60 minutes before the park opens and you should be good. It worked well for us.
