Backstage Magic and Walt’s office

Hi everyone,

I was listening to a recap of WDW Radio’s BSM adventure and heard them mention that they visited Walt’s office during their tour. I’ve been on two BSMs since Disney opened it to the public, and we didn’t get to see it. (D23 includes it in their studio tours.) Just curious if it was included in anyone else’s BSM.

I've never done the tour but I think on that podcast they mentioned it's one of those special things that they got to do since they were part of the podcast group. I imagine it might be on the list for the DIS-only tours as well.

The BSM tours I took were with the DIS Unplugged podcast (most recently in July). Maybe the upcoming DIS exclusive tour group will get to see it.

Oh wow okay then it must be super DUPER special. I'm interested to see if anyone else has seen it.

I did the Walk in Walt's Disneyland Footsteps tour last October, and we got to go to Walt's Apartment. I think the policy changes all the time. It was very cool.

We got to go to the apartment on our BSM in May also - they're talking about his office at the Studios. They pointed it out to us but said only a very few people get to go in and suggested it was invite only (though I don't know why they'd invite one ABD group and not another?).

And it’s included on the D23 studio tours. Those tours are on Saturdays. Maybe that has something to do with it.

They could have recently allowed some ABD groups to see it. It will be interesting to see if the upcoming DIS exclusive tour gets to go.

Some ABD groups (such as those affiliated with some podcasts) get extra perks. I think it’s a way to thank the travel agencies that are affiliated with the shows. It’s my understanding that Kevin at Dreams Unlimited is one of ABD’s top-selling agents.

Ah, I misunderstood! Thanks for clarifying! It's not the area in the Archives is it, with his desk and sketch table? Is it an actual office?

Yes, it’s his actual office. They’ve restored it and have offered it on D23 tours for a while now. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to score a ticket to go yet. Maybe next month.
