Two Reservations, Overlapping Dates and WL... Long Question, Please Help

Hi.

Can anyone please help me with this scenario and if I can keep two reservations for the same overlapping dates until less than a week prior to trip.

I understand there will be Holding points involved and that it is a very busy time.

My question is more about the actual reservations:

My reservation(s) are as follows:

Friday, January 4 - Saturday, January 12, 2019:

January 4-10: BLT LV Studio
January 10-11: BLT LV Studio
January 10-12: GF Standard Studio

WL: January 11-12: BLT LV Studio
WL: January 10-12: GF One Bedroom Standard

My first request/choice, would be to stay at the same resort and not have to move (BLT).

* I know WLs drop after 7 days. Is there a specific reason this happens regarding our points?What happens then? Can I still actively stalk or does the inventory for any last minute cancelations not show up on RAT and I need to call MS to check?

* Can I keep both my BLT January 10-11 and GF January 10-12 reservations until January 9 and have one set go into holding so I can still actively look for a last minute cancelation that week?

* Will my not combining my BLT January 4-10 and January 10-11 be a problem when we check in?

* I planned on doing online check in for BLT but guessing shouldnt do it for GF. Can online check in be done a day or two in advance?

If circumstances do not change, most likely we will cancel our January 10-11 BLT and go two nights (January 10-12) to GF, instead of modifying it for one night stay January 11-12.

We booked this trip end of September and originally had SSR moving to better categories as things opened, split stays, etc. and have stalked each day (with the exception of January 4 WL coming through) and happy with my success. Which brings me to another question:

If my RAT is open on my desktop at work continually refreshing (which is how I was able to piece together my reservation)/and trying to modify my GF two night stay to January 11-12 BLT, would my WL hit against it even if it was open and continually refreshing? Does the reservation have to be “closed”? I ask since I use Chrome auto refresh at work and have it refresh every 10 seconds to look for the night of January 11 at BLT that I need.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and help me out. This is what I was thinking about at 4:30 am this morning since I have become obsessed with this one last day.

If your two reservations at BLT are not linked, you may wind up moving for the last night. This is marathon weekend, so occupancy is going to be full.

Thank you. Can I wait to link them and do so prior to our arrival since it will be easier for me to find one day I need not two consecutive or does it need to be done now. I dont want to link them since I may cancel the BLT January 10-11 if I cannot get January 11-12 and wanted to do this as late as possible.

Do you think it would be best to just set a date prior to my leaving and make my decision, which probably would be cancel January 10-11 BLT and keep January 10-12 GF. I just hate to give it up yet if there is a last minute cancelation.

Well, you are already in Holding time, so it's up to you. But with those days being Marathon weekend, unless you waitlisted them months ago, I don't think it's going to happen.

Yes I really understand it is a busy time and you (and me for the most part) dont think It will happen and Im in holding either way so trying to get the questions answered so Im fully prepared.

I also understand about the WL although my January 4 WL that was fulfilled was requested about 16 or so days ago (on a Sunday) and it filled the next day but I know that isnt Marahon Weeekend.

What do you or all have suggestions regarding my above questions as well as the new one with merging the two BLT ressies? I would really appreciate some guideance.

Honestly it looks great as it is, if you're willing to keep that doubled night. Stay at BL and move over to GF whenever you want on the 10th or 11th since it’ll have been sitting there? Sounds faboo. I own at BL but am madly in love with VGF, so there is that. :)

I think you can still see it. Why not check to see if you could book for tomorrow at some place. That’ll tell you.

It wouldn’t be a problem. But you might have to move rooms. And unless you set it up with different lead guests they might merge them for you.

What’s your point in online checkin? What’s your point in NOT doing it?

Online checkin allows you to mainstream checking in since you’ll have provided the cc for room charges and you’ll have let them know what time you’ll arrive. You CAN give room requests within the confines of what they are offering in checkboxes at the time; I never do.

I see no reason not to do it for gf. It doesn’t lock you in. I’ve done online checkin as early as it’ll let me then change reservations around no problem.

I doubt if anyone knows. I doubt if many do what you’re doing.

But you’re probably going to catch any openings before the waitlist does so I don’t think it’s worthy of worrying about.

Thank you SO much! This is exactly what I needed answered.

I guess I will need to merge the BLT rooms since if we end up staying and I get the last night, I do NOT want to move, otherwise I would just move to GF (we own at SSR but, like you, love our GF stays).

I wonder if I should do the following, do you agree?:

*Merge the BLT ressies.

* Keep stalking and keep my WL for BLT January 11-12. As of right now, there is not one resort or category available for January 11-12. Thank goodness I took the GF when I saw it (although I did have SSR).

* When I stalk, I am going to use the GF January 10-12 ressie and stalk/modify hoping for January 11-12 (yes even though Marathon Weekend ).

*Is there any reason why I cannot have two separate reservations at different resorts until I cancel one the day prior, being fully aware those one or two days will go into holding?

* I dont know my reasoning behind doing/not doing online check in lol. I always do it and works our nicely for us. I will do that tomorrow or Tuesday. I wasnt sure about doing for GF since didnt know if I ended up canceling would be a problem but now I know it wont, thank you. I will, however, send a my room request in next week from TouringPlans although I think we would have more luck with the request coming in on a Saturday but we will be coming in on a Friday. We always get exactly what we request so Ill give it another shot

Is there anything else Im missing? I guess its making sure I can have two separate ressies at two separate resorts for the same dates.

As mentioned the online booking can be done up until the day before. Day of you have to call.

I do hope I get it. I have really become obsessed and when my dh was snoring at 430 am this morning, I turned on my ipad to check and modify omg. Also, I have dreams that I am looking and modifying. Only 19 more days before we go and will then have to “let it go” lol. Maybe. Not sure lol. Well I know I have to but I have to make peace with it first lol

I just called MS to merge my BLT Studio LV from January 4-10 and January 10-11 to January 4-11.
I asked about my GF January 10-12 ressie and the CM said that I would have to cancel one of the nights on either ressie
or it will confuse the system since I cannot be at two places at once. I asked about changing the lead name on the GF ressie
but she said if I'm in the room, it will still get confused. Also, I asked why couldn't I just have two rooms and decide where
I want to end up at the end of the night since I am using my points and she said that cannot happen. So, I'm just asking if this
is correct? She said I should not do online check in until I cancel the overlap in my stay.

Does above sound correct?

Just use your middle name on the second reservation and set up that "person" as another family member in your my disney experience. you'll get a different magic band for that hotel stay so it might be somewhat of a pain to have a magic band for park entry and one for hotel entry -- but it could be done.

Some repot it being fine. For now though just call back and simply tell the CM you want to change the name on the GF reservation. You can get the correct name on it later. Or is your plan now to keep both rooms?

And skip the online check in anywhere for now. It’s always best to keep it less complicated.
 
Hi!!

Well you know I stalk ALL.DAY.LONG with automatic refresh. Leave work, go to gym and come home and sit and keep stalking.

I came home from gym and checked the RAT to modify my GF looking for my last BLT day. Nothing. Checked before going in shower, nothing. Then, as usual, checked before I got dressed and bam, there is was BLT January 11-12 Studio LV. I grabbed it, modified my GF and had to out my glasses on to make sure and sure enough sitting right there even though I have an active WL. I checked multiple times I was reserving the correct category since couldnt believe it was right there. Still checked again before posting here lol

I cannot believe the hunt is FINALLY over and I no longer have to stalk or dream about stalking. Ill call later or tomorrow and combine my January 4-11 and January 11-12 ressie and thank you so, so, much for the helpful answers.

My GF standard view studio is still sitting there for January 10-12. I am surprised no one has a WL or maybe they do like I did and it didnt grab it?

So, in the end, stalking vs wl...stalking wins for me!

The nights of January 4 and January 11 were definately the hardest for me to get and January 11 is the start of Marathon Weekend. Not one room in any resort or category has been available on January 11. Last night CC had January 11 night available but no longer.

My AP runs out Jan 26 -- so I was actually toying with the idea of a last minute weekend trip. Probably a good thing the room was gone!

Keep an eye out and book when you see an opening.
SSR has much more January availability than it did yesterday (got to get myself off the RAT) LOL
