The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

...my DS took his future wife to see Aladdin last night on Broadway....they said it was FABULOUS! [...he's still trying to figure out how they got that magic carpet to fly, since neither of them could detect any wires...:confused3 ]

We know three of the actors - we won't ask, since it's MAGIC! :genie:

Did a two show day yesterday for the first time in a long time!

Saw The Ferryman, this was a great show, I really enjoyed it and it did not feel like 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Also saw Lifespan of a Fact, this was also really good. Funny and very relevant.

I recommend both of them!

....my youngest DS got me tix for Frozen for Christmas and my middle DS got me tix for Jersey Boys - for the SAME NIGHT!

So excited...seeing Kinky Boots on Sunday. DD and I saw it on Broadway in the fall of 2017; she, DH, and I saw it in London last summer; and now it will be the three of us plus our son, who will be seeing it for the first time. Can't wait!

Oh no!!!! I'll bet you could get the tix to Jersey Boys changed to a different night, Frozen might be tough as those are still hot tickets. It's worth asking!

That is a bucket list show for me, I have heard nothing but amazing reviews! Have a wonderful time!

Our season tickets include the tour of Cats this month - as a former dancer I'm pretty excited about it, my husband...not so much lol.

Just a "heads up" to those in the greater NYC area. The pre-sale for the Broadway Week 2019 is open (must get link from aarp site). General tickets will go on sale on Jan. 9th. Shows are from Jan. 21 - Feb. 10th. Good luck to those who grab tickets! We have seen shows like Once on this Island, Come From Away and Fiddler using this deal. Some good shows this time -- Dear Evan Hansen, Lion King, Wicked. I'm sure those tickets are from the mid-week timeframe when I can't go -- but still -- someone might be able to take advantage :-)

....actually, they were for last Friday - we went to see Jersey Boys [ which was FABULOUS, btw!] and the Frozen tix are on 'hold' at the box office. We simply need to check ahead of time whether the seats are available or not...

I'm seeing "Come From Away" in 8 days. Insanely excited!!!! Little miffed. One of my best friends is in a local production of "Mama Mia". I HATE that show. But she is in it, my director from Annie is in the lead, and a bunch of other people I know and like are in it. They do sell wine during intermission....:rolleyes1

I love Mamma Mia. To be honest, I’m not that impressed with the plot but I adore the score. I saw it twice at the Winter Garden.

There's a one night only concert of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" on Feb 18th at Lincoln Center. They've announced Laura Osnes, Corey Cott, and Norm Lewis in the cast, but they haven't announced who's playing the Scarlet Pimpernel yet! I can't wait--great show and fantastic cast (so far :) )

The plot is a deal breaker for me. It is so stupid. Not a huge ABBA fan, so the music is a take it or leave it for me.
OMG I am so excited about The Scarlet Pimpernel. I LOVE that show and I LOVE Norm Lewis!

Saw To Kill A Mockingbird last night. I thought it was just fabulous. Cast was amazing, and I really thought the production was done so well.

I'm hoping this is one they film with the original cast to broadcast on PBS or something, like they did with Driving Miss Daisy. I'd *love* to see this with Jeff Daniels.

Saw Choir Boy this afternoon. Liked it a lot. I previously had no interest in the upcoming Ain't Too Proud, but after seeing Jeremy Pope's performance in Choir Boy, I may have to rethink that position.

I sure hope they do. He really was fabulous. I found the show so well done, if it wasn’t a fortune to see id go again.

This is on my list! I have heard only good things.
