Moonlight Magic

We're in! I logged in at 11:10 EST and was done at 11:38 EST

So, so, so much better than the previous registration method! I won't miss the spinny wheel of death.

That system works so well. I clicked on it just to see how it would work and this was so much better than having no idea what was going on and people having many tabs/devices open trying to get in.

This new system for getting tickets was so much better! I clicked the link from my email about 7:53 AM and at 8 AM, I was 798 in line. I liked being able to see the number going down and feeling like I was really in the queue and had a good chance for getting in.

Now for the party to be better than the DCA one last month. Mailing tickets is an interesting idea and hope that will help. I will still probably make a reservation for one of the hotels (guess I should get on that) so we can get their earlier and relax before the party. And then enter with our APs earlier than check in and do that in the park. The Disneyland party in 2017 was great!

I realy like the updates they have included. Overall a great system and a much better experience than in the past.

I have to say, this queue experience is MUCH nicer than the last time I tried to register for his!

A good year. Thats the year I was born.

I fail to see what was so "bad" about last time besides the registration issues? Personally, I had a great time at the DCA event. Got into line to check in around 6 pm and was in the park BEFORE the 7 pm start time. Used our food vouchers right away with no issues, and got on several different rides before leaving around 10:45 pm. The food vouchers were a great "plus" -- wasn't expecting it, and won't complain about $15 of food credit vs a free popcorn and Churo. The vouchers clearly stated up to $15 value, not a "free meal" -- so not sure why some would be demanding a full "meal" no matter what the price.

This is a free bonus event -- NOT a part of your "entitled membership" -- so unsure why anyone would state it was a poor event or "cluster"?

What were you expecting? A trip to Club 33, zero lines and a personal concierge because you "own" a part of the Mouse?????????

When compared to the 2016 Disneyland event it was a night and day experience. It took almost an hour just to park and I had arrived in the area at 6:30ish. Another hour plus in line to check in. 30+ minutes to get food and most ride lines were 30+ still at midnight and all food venues still had long lines.
In 2016, there was no wait to park and it only took about 20 minutes to check in. Every ride was a walk on with maybe a max 10 min wait for certain rides line star tours that were not running at full capacity. The longest lines that year were for the churro carts.

For the DCA event, we stayed at VGC the night before and night of the event. There was a huge line at VGC to check in that took us about 30 minutes and they forgot to give us a map so had to locate one in the park. We got in the park a little after 7 as I recall and stopped in the store which happened to already be selling the MM merchandise that was not supposed to go on sale until 9 even though certain items were not ringing in the register and leads had to be called. We then headed to Pacific Wharf/Boudins to get bread bowl soups for dinner. That line was longer than I have ever seen by a lot (and we have been there many Saturday nights that are quite busy). Probably about 45 minutes in line for dinner and by the time we finished it was just about 9 PM. All rides had lines longer than expected and longer than I normally am willing to wait during the day. At least during the day, I can use my MaxPass on my AP to ride the rides with shorter waits. If I remember right, we did Radiator Springs Racers, Maters, Luigis, Guardians, met Mike Wazowski, Monsters, and maybe Toy Story?. We definitely did not do Incredicoaster or Soaring. I still think that having no nighttime show (such as WOC or Paint the Night parade) to eat up crowds contributed to some of the mess. We saw lines for food at 11 PM that were still ridiculously long and not worth it. They also did not seem to be checking wristbands so I think there were still a lot of regular day visitors in the park.

I saw a DVC rep the next day that I had spoken to the night before the event. She is a DVC member and had gone to the event and also thought it was a huge mess. She was actually quite honest on her thoughts versus towing a company line. I have seen her around several times since and always stop to chat a few minutes with her.

The 2017 Disneyland event by contrast was wonderful. I think our longest wait was for the train at about 10 minutes since we had just missed one. Having 2 Fantasmics pulled people away from attractions a bit. We arrived at the first Fantasmic and were seated water side about 10-15 minutes prior to show time and had our best view in years.

I am really hopeful the event this month is more like the 2017 Disneyland one.

Seems like they allowed more guests to attend the last event. That would be my guess why people are saying it was a cluster. Probably heard too much grief from people missing out on the early events......so just let more in and kill the experience. If they let more in last event my guess is the same going forward. We will see. By luck we had a trip planned before the MM dates were released so we just fell into going to MM Disneyland. First time at DL also. Should be a fun time.

I was going to try and get these MM tickets and went to the gym instead because I totally forgot. Oh well. I guess it’ll save me money by not taking that DL trip I was contemplating. Whoops! :sad2:

How many tickets were you going to get?

Just 2. It’s honestly fine as I was on the fence about going to DL in January anyway because we have so many trips planned this year. I thought maybe I would book MM and then my DH could figure out a way to get off of work so we could sneak away for a few days to CA and go while we were there. If we couldn’t go because of his work, I could then release the tickets for someone else. Honestly, I need a trip to the spa more than a trip to DL right now with all the Christmas stress!

I get that. I'm totally stressed and its not just Christmas. I need a staycation to just sleep the whole time. lol.
