Hello everyone! My family of 4 (me, wife, 2 boys 5 and 3) are planning a trip to Disney World this upcoming May.

I have done ludicrous amounts of research on Caribbean Beach Resort and followed the construction closely hoping it would be mostly done by May 2019. I have not heard great things about shuttle wait times (something we struggled with at Old Key West in 2018). The pull down bed was the main selling point since I don't know if my boys can/will share a queen bed without disrupting each other.

I have narrowed down our trip to 1 of 2 possible scenarios and I'm curious to hear what people recommend between the following:
  1. Caribbean Beach Resort - 5th sleeper room - 8 nights
  2. Pop Century Resort - Standard room - 9 nights
The cost of 9 nights at Pop Century is about $300 less than 8 nights at Caribbean Beach resort.

We plan to spend most days at the theme parks and water parks, with a couple days off for resort/rest days. I'm leaning towards Pop Century because it's more time at the resort for less money but figured I'd ask first.

What do you master Disney World goers recommend?

We are huge fans of CBR, but in this case would stay the extra night at Pop and save some $$. Especially now that Pop has queen beds.

Until our most recent trip when we stayed offsite, we have always brought a twin-sized air mattress for one of our boys to sleep on because they won't share a bed. They took turns sleeping on it--oldest one trip, youngest the next, etc. I don't know for sure if it would fit in the refurbed room at Pop Century, we haven't stayed there for a long time.

I wouldn't choose CBR even if the nights were the same. We've stayed at both (prior to construction) and just did not like CBR very much - it's just too spread out for us and we had a room relatively close to the food court/buses, but still just too much for us. I'd def choose pop with the extra day.

Just for a frame of reference I'm not a die-hard pop fan. It's not even my favorite value and I certainly wouldn't choose it over many deluxe, or Port Orleans, but I would over CBR.

I'd pick Pop over most moderates and Deluxe resorts, even without the savings. :)
Same here we have stayed at all levels. We tried the Poly in 2016 and AKL in 2017 and I guess I don't get the fuss. We have also stayed at WL, SS, POFQ, CSR and POR. We go for two weeks and I am willing to shell out the extra money but IMO it isn't really worth it for us. Upgrade to a moderate for us is 1400.00 so I would rather spend that money on desert partie and a after hours event and still have money for a couple of character meals. We do the QSDP just works better for us.

I would choose Pop over CBR regardless of savings or for the same amount of nights. We love Pop. We like the theme, new rooms, food court, size of the resort, pools, and just one bus stop. The only thing I really miss when staying at pop is a hot tub. I'm not a big fan of CBR. I've stayed at almost all the moderate and deluxe resorts and it's been my least favorite. I think the only resorts I would choose CBR over are the All Stars or POR.

I really do appreciate everyone's input and suggestions. Thank you so much! :thanks:

I definitely had concerns about CBR's size and multiple bus stops for shuttle times. Pop really appealed to us for this trip because it has 1 location for the buses and has queen beds now (doubles are too small when you're used to a cal king at home ). Saving money and having extra time at Disney World seems to be the unanimous decision by the DIS veterans and has nudged me to let go of the CBR reservation and just keep the Pop reservation.

Any advice for a 1st time Pop goer?

We like to walk over to AoA and do the free animation class. It's held at 11AM, 3PM and 5PM everyday I believe. It's a lot of fun!

We always request top floor, lake facing room for a quiet location.

Pop is nice but I’ll always choose moderate over value because of the paper thin walls. I sleep terribly at value resorts. Can hear everything around you.

For me I'd pick extra time and less money = POP.

But reading your post .... since you plan resort days I would seriously compare the pools and dining options.

POP is a great resort and there are good reasons people prefer to stay there than at a moderate or deluxe. The food court has decent options (LOVE the tie-dye cheesecake) and it's a short and pretty walk to AOA for a food court some people consider to be the best food court on property. The entire bus system works logistically well with one bus stop and there being the ropes so it's not a mad rush when a bus comes.
Plus, can't argue against staying an extra night. Have a great trip!

Requests aren't guaranteed, but I like to request a non-connecting room. Quieter. Also some of the rooms have shower only and some have tub/shower combination if that matters to you with your little guys.

I voted Carribean beach, I love POP but for us the room is to small for more then a 3 or 4 days park only trip. If we send any time in the room it’s just to small.
