A Most Epic Fantasy DISmeet Cruise-The bitter end 3/21, Bonus Feature, Completed Star Wars Galaxy's Edge 6/20

Yay for Fran feeling better and being able to enjoy her meals.

I got to do laundry! :lmao: I am laughing so hard! But at least I got a yummy meal after. LOL! :woohoo:

Great photo of you two with your desserts.

Whats with all the selling of jewelry on cruises? Are the deals really deals?

Other then the cannon firing sounds like a relaxing day. Our NYE was just our family since DD was home so we didn't have our usual party. We just cancelled our Alaska trip for June so now we might go to WDW for Thanksgiving with DS and DGS. We know it will be totally crowded, but DGS will be in Jr. High by then so can't pull him out of school.

But I won't get in trouble with the Mods! :upsidedow

Oh, sure. Self preservation streak runs strong.

No wonder I thought that I would like to have it again.

::yes::

Me too, we need to talk to our Dr. in a couple weeks to figure out how to ramp it down.

Hope that goes well.

I'm OK with that, but parents today seem to thin their kids should have everything handed to them on a platter, one that the parents don't have to serve.

Do NOT get me started.

I could see waiting until it's on Netflix or something, it was amusing, but not "OMG go see it" amusing.

Got that. I'll wait.

It's the kind of thing that you have at potluck suppers. There's where I had it the most.

Ah!

I hope you had a Happy New Year, we ate Homemade Clam Chowder

You had me at "Homemade Clam Chowder".

I asked Fran what she wanted to do for breakfast and she was unsure what her stomach could handle.

I took a few snaps out my porthole of the port area as we pulled into the port.

I guess for you it's old hat, but... for me, that would be very exciting and fascinating.

Since she had no ill effects from the pre breakfast

Yay!

We got there around 8:15 and were seated near a family with screaming children who were running around the restaurant.

:sad2:

This is NOT RIGHT.
And it's not just from a behavioural point of view. It's also dangerous. Waiters (or in this case, people) walking with hot items. Kid runs into them and you spill it on them and... of course the parents are going to not think they suck at parenting their little hellions, but it's you fault. :sad2:

I was about to ask to be moved when they announced to the children they were leaving.

Leaving the behind? Leaving them for dead?

:rolleyes1

just ordered some V8 and the Eggs Benedict.

Yum! I need to go on a cruise with you.

More families were seated near us, but for the most part their children were model citizens.

And... this should not be surprising. It should be the norm.

We considered going to see The Incredibles 2,

Just saw it a few days ago. Liked it.

Fran was a little afraid to be that far from a bathroom for that long a period of time,

I can understand that. Poor thing.

Flat Jenny helped me with the laundry.

You put her to work!?!?!?

Well... I suppose it's only fair. You did take her along for a free cruise.

I can tell I'm getting old because I started forgetting what I did two days ago!

Oy. Join the club.

Because you pay for your laundry with your KTTW, the app sends you a text when your laundry is finished in the washer and then again in the dryer, so I was finished with my laundry in no time!

Nice! Much better than trying to guess and going and... "Nope. Still running."

Or worse "Who took my clothes out and piled them on the table???"

We both started off with the Clam Chowder.

You had me at Clam Chowder.

oooohhhh... deja vu.

The Clam Chowder that we made for NYE was much creamier and had pork belly, and that’s like bacon on steroids.

Oh. My. God...

Flat Jenny enjoyed lunch with us too.

Ah! So you fed her after she did the laundry.

I got the Merguez sausage with onions and gravy. I'm not sure what the puree underneath it was but it tasted like potato with onions in it. The portion size was just perfect.

Wow that looks good.

Then we got dessert, she had the chocolate sundae and even though she was feeling icky, polished it off.

Hard to resist, even when not feeling 100%!

I got the lemon meringue pie, it was good too.

Mmmmm! One of my faves.

And flat Jenny enjoyed dessert with us.

Reward for good laundry work?

:) Nice photo of you guys.

I was enjoying my time in the hot tub, until this stupid pirate boat in the harbor started setting off it's cannons, startling the heck out of me. After about the sixth canon, I decided that this was no longer relaxing and got out of the hot tub to go get changed.

:( Sorry to hear that. You want to relax and... :sad2:

Oh and I've been busy, so don't bother looking for "where's Jenny?" in this update.

And yet... I saw her 3 times. ;)

Yay for Fran feeling better and being able to enjoy her meals.

Well she still skips a few more meals, but at least she enjoyed the couple on this day.

I got to do laundry! :lmao: I am laughing so hard! But at least I got a yummy meal after. LOL! :woohoo:

Great photo of you two with your desserts.

Glad I could give you a few good laughs!

Whats with all the selling of jewelry on cruises? Are the deals really deals?

From what I understand, Disney, Carnival, and all the other cruise lines came together to form "Diamonds International", "Tanzanite International", and all the others and you find them in every. single. port. that the major cruise ships visit. They have talks on board about "how to buy" and I'm sure that they have some "deals", but for the most part, it's just a thing to get tourists in the shop with free giveaways and to buy more stuff and since jewels are expensive it's a good thing to push them to buy. On our first cruise back in 2012, we bought me some Tanzanite, but that's because I wanted some, and that was before I got all into my Mickey Jewelry. They didn't have it back then as far as I can remember.

It was nice just to chill in the cabin watching movies, eating good food and getting the laundry done. It also rained that day and poor Jill who was out on a tour got soaked walking back to the ship. I was happy that I was in the cabin instead of getting soaked.

Do NOT get me started.

I take it you have strong views on entitled parents. :rolleyes1

You had me at "Homemade Clam Chowder".

I'd be happy to make it for you. I think we do a pretty good one!

I guess for you it's old hat, but... for me, that would be very exciting and fascinating.

Actually no. I get so excited every time we pull into a port. I was sad that we only had a porthole and Jill hadn't texted me that she was up a wanting company.

:sad2:

This is NOT RIGHT.

Kid runs into them and you spill it on them and... of course the parents are going to not think they suck at parenting their little hellions, but it's you fault. :sad2:

I totally get it. I'm more annoyed by them running around, but I totally get the danger factor.

Leaving the behind? Leaving them for dead?

:rolleyes1

Yum! I need to go on a cruise with you.

Yes, I think you do! I would give you one of my Bennies too!

And... this should not be surprising. It should be the norm.

Sadly it is not.

Just saw it a few days ago. Liked it.

And I would have rated that one as a "see it in the theater" over Ralph which was kind of meh. I want to see Bohemian Rhapsody now before it is no longer available in theaters.

I can understand that. Poor thing.

Yeah, it often ends up being a problem.

You put her to work!?!?!?

Well... I suppose it's only fair. You did take her along for a free cruise.

Well yaaaah? She did get to stow away for free!

Oy. Join the club.

And it seems to be getting worse...

Nice! Much better than trying to guess and going and... "Nope. Still running."

Or worse "Who took my clothes out and piled them on the table???"

Yup. Been there done that.

You had me at Clam Chowder.

oooohhhh... deja vu.

Oh. My. God...

It was definitely good, but we made too much. Time to give the leftovers to Naked Jim. He'll eat anything.

Ah! So you fed her after she did the laundry.

It was the least I could do. :confused3

Wow that looks good.

Have you had Merguez? Love Lamb sausage, Fran doesn't like the current batch I have in the freezer.

Hard to resist, even when not feeling 100%!

She does love her chocolate sundaes.

Mmmmm! One of my faves.

I'm more the lemon stuff fan.

Reward for good laundry work?

Something like that.

:) Nice photo of you guys.

Thanks!

:( Sorry to hear that. You want to relax and... :sad2:

And if they had done them all at once it would have been fine, but they did one and I'm like "good that's done" and then like 5 minutes later there another. Maybe it was only 3 minutes, but it wasn't immediate, but after 5-6 I realized that it wasn't going to necessarily stop.

And yet... I saw her 3 times. ;)

You are very astute! :thumbsup2

I take it you have strong views on entitled parents

Well.... YES

I'd be happy to make it for you. I think we do a pretty good one!

I'd be very happy to eat it for you!!

Actually no. I get so excited every time we pull into a port.

Really!

I was sad that we only had a porthole and Jill hadn't texted me that she was up a wanting company.

Aw, that's too bad. I would definitely want a balcony on my first trip at least.

I totally get it. I'm more annoyed by them running around, but I totally get the danger factor.

If you want to bring them and they can't behave... the least... the absolute least you can do (and should!) is keep them at your table!

Yes, I think you do! I would give you one of my Bennies too!

Yay!

And I would have rated that one as a "see it in the theater" over Ralph which was kind of meh. I want to see Bohemian Rhapsody now before it is no longer available in theaters.

And it just won for best drama at the... Golden Globes, I believe?

Well yaaaah? She did get to stow away for free!

It was definitely good, but we made too much. Time to give the leftovers to Naked Jim. He'll eat anything.

Do you ship internationally?

Asking for a friend.

:rolleyes1

Have you had Merguez?

::yes::

She does love her chocolate sundaes.

Who doesn't!

I'm more the lemon stuff fan.

Me too!!

I think watermelon is a good food for when your tummy is upset- hydrating

We considered going to see The Incredibles 2, but Fran was a little afraid to be that far from a bathroom for that long a period of time, so we decided to go back to the room
Man I know that feeling, I enjoyed that movie

Making the girl work on vacation!

Because you pay for your laundry with your KTTW, the app sends you a text when your laundry is finished in the washer and then again in the dryer, so I was finished with my laundry in no time!
That's pretty slick!

We had Remy dinner that night
Looking forward to reading about your dinner- yum!

Glad you took her for lunch after helping with the laundry!

That looks pretty perfect for lunch

We got there around 8:15 and were seated near a family with screaming children who were running around the restaurant.

We were spoiled with the big girl as she was just the best, easiest child, and even as a teenager, she is still super easy and agreeable- no fuss, no stress.

The little one however, is hitting the terrible 2's with all her might...we won't be doing cruises etc with her until she can behave, simple as that.

Catching back up again! Palo was amazing and our server was fantastic! There was no way we were getting out of there in an hour but it was so nice not to fight the crowds to watch the fireworks from the private deck. ;)

I did a walking food tour in St Thomas and it was fun but very hot. I got soaked walking back as the rain came in and basically blew rain sideways...I was a drowned rat when I got back to the ship.

Mmmmmm, I can't wait to relive Remy!

Lady...your Christmas meals look amazing! I need to try that french toast and the tiramisu!

Jill in CO

We got there around 8:15 and were seated near a family with screaming children who were running around the restaurant.

Sorry about that. We'll do better next time.

Flat Jenny helped me with the laundry.

Hey, I found her!

Throughout the cruise I was always anywhere between 24 to 48 hours behind on my documenting. I can tell I'm getting old because I started forgetting what I did two days ago!

Just make it up. Nobody can tell the difference. Don't ask me how I know. :rolleyes1

Flat Jenny enjoyed lunch with us too.

Found her again! Wow, this is easy.

Then we got dessert, she had the chocolate sundae and even though she was feeling icky, polished it off.

She's not a quitter. I can respect that.

And flat Jenny enjoyed dessert with us.

I mean, gimme a challenge!

I was enjoying my time in the hot tub, until this stupid pirate boat in the harbor started setting off it's cannons, startling the heck out of me. After about the sixth canon, I decided that this was no longer relaxing and got out of the hot tub to go get changed.

Wow, that's odd. I hope your ship wasn't actually under attack! :scared1:

Oh and I've been busy, so don't bother looking for "where's Jenny?" in this update.

But...but...

Alison, I finally found you again, and this wonderful trip report. I am loving it!
Ellen

We got there around 8:15 and were seated near a family with screaming children who were running around the restaurant. I was about to ask to be moved when they announced to the children they were leaving.

Good riddance!!

More families were seated near us, but for the most part their children were model citizens. One boy was playing cards with his grandmother and the two seated behind us were fascinated with the window washers and busy planning their day.

There. That's better!

I can tell I'm getting old because I started forgetting what I did two days ago!

Then you're doing far better than me. I can hardly ever remember what I had for breakfast.

The Clam Chowder that we made for NYE was much creamier and had pork belly, and that’s like bacon on steroids.

Hello!

too bad it wasn't very hot.

A hot tub isn't even worth getting into if it's not hot. 102 or don't bother.

I am finally caught up! Don't ask which page I had to start from!! :crazy2: November and December were totally busy with work and then I was away visiting Michael. On top of that I got sick as soon as I got back, still at home today, but feeling better, so I thought I should actually have a look at the DIS!

I loved seeing all your Christmas cooking! I am sure you have already seen mine. It appears that my husband's favorite hobby is posting food picture on his facebook...

Reading about your cruise makes me yearn to go on another cruise sometime soon. But we have so many travel plans going around that I have no idea when we will have the time (and the money) for cruising again. Might be 22 or so...

I am sorry that Fran was feeling so bad for so much of the cruise, but I am glad that you figured out what caused the issue, so hopefully it will not return!

You seem to have made the best of all the special dining offerings on the Fantasy. All those meals looked amazing! I also noticed a trend in the Main Dining Room: anything that deviates from normal procedure ends up with less than stellar experiences (the truffle pursettes, the soufflé) and that has been my experience in the past as well. Everyone says always how wonderful the servers are in making any special order happen, I have found that most of the time it does not come through in the way one would hope. I think I heard a couple years ago that DCL has given the servers more passengers to care for (not sure if it was about how the new ships are set up or a general change), but on both my Fantasy cruises, I felt that special wishes often caused things to happen in a bit of a strange way. I.e. I wanted to swap out a cauliflower puree for rice as I hate cauliflower. My server noted that and then I got the normal plate with the fish on top of the cauliflower and an extra side of rice. Not what I had wanted as the puree was sticking to my fish. I the end not a big deal as it turned out the puree was very tasty and mainly creamy with only a slight hint of cauliflower, so it was actually quite good. But I got the feeling that your issues were of a similar nature: The server taking little shortcuts to deliver your special order that resulted in a less than perfect experience.

I have obviously missed something. Apparently I need to read your current TR to get caught up with news! Mazel tov to both of you!

Thank you!! Yes, Michael and I just celebrated our first anniversary last month!! And unfortunately my current trip report is about a trip from 2017... I am far too slow for this...

I have obviously missed something. Apparently I need to read your current TR to get caught up with news! Mazel tov to both of you!

Since we have met multiple times (M&M) I am "friends" on FB with her husband. He likes to share a lot more than food pictures on FB! But he did share some rather strange things about your meal at STK and evidently your post dinner discussions about certain items on your table. @Flossbolna :lmao:

Finally caught up

We also split an order of the spinach gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce, so tasty! Little nuggets of goodness.
Sounds amazing

we also had these Gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce, and they were even better than the ones in my last update from Palo!
REALLY can't believe it. OH Yum

Overnight Blueberry Cream Cheese French Toast.
I was going to ask for the recipe for this but then I saw you posted it and I had to copy it off. Looking forward to trying this.

Aw, that's too bad. I would definitely want a balcony on my first trip at least.

I think that's a reasonable request!

If you want to bring them and they can't behave... the least... the absolute least you can do (and should!) is keep them at your table!

Ya think?

And it just won for best drama at the... Golden Globes, I believe?

Which is why I really want to see it now!

Do you ship internationally?

Asking for a friend.

:rolleyes1

:rolleyes1

Man I know that feeling, I enjoyed that movie

I did too! I laughed so hard at the raccoon scene. I'd definitely see it again!

Making the girl work on vacation!

Hey she needs to pull her weight!

That's pretty slick!

I thought so!

Looking forward to reading about your dinner- yum!

There isn't a lot to read, but I took good pictures!

Glad you took her for lunch after helping with the laundry!

It was the least I could do!

That looks pretty perfect for lunch

It was just right, to quote Goldilocks.

We were spoiled with the big girl as she was just the best, easiest child, and even as a teenager, she is still super easy and agreeable- no fuss, no stress.

The little one however, is hitting the terrible 2's with all her might...we won't be doing cruises etc with her until she can behave, simple as that.

Good luck!
