Storybook Dining at Artist Point Watch Thread!

Thanks for advice but I think there might be to much food for just me but I will take your advice and look for a reservation.

The amount of food should be the same no matter if you are solo or with a group. The appetizers and desserts are brought out in individual portions for each person. I would imagine they would just bring one of each appetizer and dessert for you. And each person orders their own entree.

I just posted a minute ago and didn't see this post. I am a solo too but nervous about doing a character meal alone since I never tried it. Did u ask people to take photos of you and characters and did you find it was to much food for one?

I was very nervous but I shouldn’t have been. At Artist Point, there were numerous cast members on hand who were ready to take photos. The characters motioned for them to come over, which was nice.

It was a little more difficult at Akershus, but the waitress there still took photos.

It was a lot of food, but they do reduce the portions of desserts and apps for solo diners (you still get one of each!).

Went to this tonite. Had the funniest thing happen with evil queen. There was a family in front of us with 3 little kids. Mom was trying to get a pic and they wouldn’t stand next to the queen. The three of them stood about 2 feet away and took pics like they were scare of her. It had the rest of us and their parents cracking up laughing. Then I went to get my pic with her. I had bought the T-shirt with the evil queen on it from Festival of the Arts and of course she said I was honoring her beauty. Then I wanted a pic with arms folded and said I want one more so PP took it quickly and then queen said in a dry voice ”you could have said please”. LOL. It was funny. She was awesome!

Food was good. I got the veal which was really good. The soup was ok. I liked the chicken pastry and the shrimp was huge! Liked the apple and the gooseberry was ok. Didn’t care for the cakey thing. Popcorn was ok but the choc heart was really good. Am glad I did it.

Since this has been open for a little bit now I am wondering if anyone has any first hand accounts of taking a child under three? I know with CRT, Akershus, and Bon Voyage children are given a complimentary meal. I am just wondering if that is the case here?

I believe a child under three is free everywhere.

Hi all, I'm going to cancel my ADR at Storybook. While the interaction looks good, I just prefer restaurants with more of a choice for appetizers and entrees.

The ADR is for 4 on March 31st at 5:55 pm. If you are interested, please PM me and we can coordinate a time so you can pick up the ADR. I can wait a day or two before I cancel it.

EDIT: This is now cancelled.

Storybook Dining with Snow White at Artist Point was my family's #1 Worst Dinner at Disney. We went New Year's Eve - Dec 31, 2018. Family included myself, husband, and daughters aged 14 and 18. We unanimously agreed that it was our worst meal at Disney - ever. We all agreed that we'd rather have eaten burgers at Whispering Canyon. We disliked all of the (odd) shared appetizers - which were essentially fancy squash soup, a tiny meat pie sort of like a shepherd's pie that wasn't good, and a shrimp/prawn w/basil leaf. We disliked all of the (odd and disgustingly sweet) shared desserts. I thought the little gooseberry (?) pie was okay (it tastes like rhubarb pie), but everyone else disliked every one of the desserts - a first! (my daughters are sweets freaks). Entrees included (fatty and gross) prime rib with (very strong) horseradish mashed and authentic (i.e. bland, slimy and gross) popover. My 14 year old bread-lover snatched up the nice looking popover, took a bit, and looked like she was going to spit it back out on her plate until I gave her the stink-eye. Another entree was veal shank (i.e. a bowl of pot roast with a bone hunk in it, just to gross you out) over celery mashed (blah). I had ordered the Veal Shank and my 18 year old had ordered the Prime Rib. We were both grossed out, so we traded meals. Still grossed out, we just picked around. She thought the Pot Roast (errr.. veal shank) was okay. I thought the horseradish mashed were good, so I ate those and tried to avoid looking at the the hunk of gristly prime rib. The experience was curious to me, because Disney Food Blog loved the food here, and I'm no rube when it comes to fine dining, and yet... the food literally grossed me out. The kids' parade features deafening music that you *literally* cannot talk over. It's short-lived, but ay-yi-yi. The tables feature this serving piece for the shared apps/desserts. Said serving piece is cute, fashioned to look like a tree. Downside is that it cuts off your view of the person sitting across from you, so if you want to converse with the person opposite you, you have to lean around the tree serving centerpiece, or move it. Quibbling here, I know, but. Characters - Snow White and Grumpy were not there ("they had been called to the Magic Kingdom"), um, okay, do I get a discount from my bill? Nope. Extra fastpass? Nope. Dopey was cute. The Evil Queen was awesome. $300 (no cocktails). I'm sure other people (like the Disney Food Blog) will love this place. The above was just my experience.

Wait....... 2 of the 4 characters were absent? Were there at least fill-ins?

So Dopey was the only character visiting tables on New Year’s Eve??? I’d be grumpy too!!

That’s what I want to know. I can get over not liking the food or nit picky little things, but there’s really no excuse to not have Snow White and Grumpy and no replacements. I’m suprised there wasn’t mutiny from the other diners.

I know that no character meal has guarantees, but if half of the lineup is MIA, that deserves an email to guest services. They need to refund part of that dinner.

You are correct. There were no replacements for Snow White and Grumpy. Dopey visited tables. The Evil Queen stood in her photo-op spot (which could not been seen from our table). Interestingly enough, when we walked up to the podium to check in, we were advised that Grumpy would not be in attendance. During dinner, we were advised that Snow White "had been called to the MK". Other diners did not look pleased. I saw a manager going around to some tables. I heard him offer one table (with upset little kids) the chance to come see Snow White another day. Perhaps that appeased some people. In my opinion, all diners should have received a discount off the bill. All this said, I wouldn't return to Storybook Dining if all 7 Dwarfs visited my table, the food was that bad.

Getting to see Snow White and Grumpy on another day would only appease me if I was staying at WL and I wasn’t leaving the next day.

We did this event this past Thursday prior to heading to Magic Kingdom After Hours. Party consisted of myself, my wife and 9 year old daughter. We all loved it!

Service was top notch from the time we checked in through our meet with the Evil Queen. Our server was a veteran of the previous version of AP. She was sad to see it change but she said it is much better having a full restaurant compared to the 1/2 empty one that AP used to be.

We enjoyed all the apps. The soup was silky and full of flavor. The meat pie wasn't the least bit dry, nicely spiced and was complimented nicely by the preserves. The shrimp had a nice bite when mixed up with the sauce in the bottom of the jar. We thought all were presented beautifully.

For entrees I had the Veal Shank and subbed mashed potatoes on mine. It was tender and full of flavor. A wonderful version of Osso Bucco and not a bit reminiscent of Pot Roast! My wife had the Gnocchi and it was fantastic. Both of our portions were huge and we couldn't quite finish all our entrees. My daughter had the pasta and enjoyed it.

The desserts were wonderfully presented. I enjoyed the Poison Apple best followed by the Gooseberry Pie. The Miner's treat was a bit too sweet for my taste but of course my sugar fiend daughter thought it was her favorite.

Character interaction was awesome and the characters very much into their roles. The interactions weren't rushed and they stayed for as many pictures as you liked. We spoke with many tables all around us and all really seemed to enjoy the event. Overall I thought it was by far the best meal we've had at a Character event and agreed (along with our Waitress) that it will eventually be bumped to 2 credits. If you can get in there now with it being 1 go for it.

My husband also referred to the Veal Shank as Osso Bucco, while my daughters and I referred to it as Pot Roast (having never had Osso Bucco). I'm sure that you and my husband are more on point in terms of description.

We went Christmas Eve—no Grumpy and were told upon check in we could cancel. 1. We wanted to go anyway. 2. Where else would we have eaten for dinner on late notice 12/24?

While we missed Grumpy, we loved the experience. It is a must return for us, and my only child is a 13 year old boy. However, I wholeheartedly agree that the schedule should have a plan B. Missing 1 character wasn’t awful, but 2 of 4 would be a lot harder to stomach. Even more so if I had a princess loving little girl.

Evil Queen is totally amazing and worth the majority of the cost. She made us so happy we were able to ignore little things that were off.

ETA. Scheduling should definitely have plan B for holidays when call outs/time off requests are more prevalent. I am sure backup is in place for other high demand experiences.
