Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

It seems that many of the tower rooms are not opened. It took me awhile to snag tower standard and that was only because I added another date. Now that I want to add an additional date, I can’t find the same room. I am hoping that something opens soon before the latest offers disappear.

They may have blocks of rooms reserved for conventions. Sometimes those open up as it gets closer and the convention doesn't need all the allotted rooms.

Remember they built this tower to cater to convention people.

I just added a day yesterday- try calling- it worked for me. Granted I have a room only reservation, not sure if that makes a difference.
If I do room only I can get the dates I want but I cannot find my dates with the resort discount. I will call them tomorrow and see if I have any luck. Thank you

Thanks!! Just to clarify, that would be the water side, not the parking lot side, right?
No. The parking lot side will face HS and Epcot. Well, the center and the Right wing(as you face the building) will have views. Left wing faces wrong direction for Epcot. The water side may see MK but it's over 4 miles away.

No, the water views will be of the lagoon. The non water views will face DHS and EPCOT.

The rooftop restaurant is going to have fantastic views of all the fireworks. We plan to spend New Year's Eve up there.

Then I am definitely keeping my standard room view!!!!

Thank you!! Definitely going for the standard room, then! I wonder what the request options on MDE will be!

I don't have an answer for you but I can say that date has been unavailable for a long time. Last September we were booking our bounce back trip and the resort was unavailable until we departed before the 13th.

Thanks!! I went ahead and booked the night at the cabins for that night. We will just do a split stay!!

Hello everyone! I just returned from Disney (1/28-2/2) and had a split stay at Coronado Springs and AKL. This was my first time at either resort and I thought I would do a quick write-up about my experience at Coronado for those who are considering staying there or those who have reservations booked and looking for reviews. We were 2 adults staying in Casitas 5, room number 5410. we absolutely LOVED Coronado and our location!

Pros:
  1. The bus service was awesome! I'm not sure if Disney got their bus system together as a whole, but we had NO issues with buses at all. We never waited more then 5 minutes for a bus when leaving a park (even in the afternoon as we took afternoon breaks daily), and we found the app to be pretty accurate when catching a bus from the resort. We found that in the morning it was best to take the bus from stop #2 (which was closest to us) to guarantee a seat, but during the afternoon or evening, we preferred to catch the bus from stop #1 as it got us to the parks quicker without stopping at the other stops within the resort.
  2. The atmosphere was sooo beautiful and relaxing (yes, even with construction!). In the afternoons when coming back from the parks, it always felt like we were the only ones at the resort because it was so quiet with maybe only 1 other family that you can see walking in the distance.
  3. Not a lot of children. I recognize that Disney is a place many families go to, but this was an adults-only trip and we wanted to stay at a resort where there would be less children present and to have a more "adult" feel. Coronado definitely exceeded our expectations. The buses usually only had 1 or 2 children on it, and most of the buses were empty throughout the afternoon and especially in the evenings when coming from the park.
  4. Location! Coronado Springs is centrally located and has quick bus services to all parks and even Disney Springs. Once you leave the resort, you have about a 5 minute drive to Hollywood studios and Epcot.Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs would be your longest drives but only a 10 minute drive to those as well. I guess this was more of a pro for us especially after switching resorts to AKL where every bus ride (besides AK) was over 15 minutes long and the one to Disney springs being about 25 minutes.
  5. Beautiful pool and very large hot tub!
  6. The renovated rooms were gorgeous with usb outlets, a large tv, and a beautiful bathroom. They were also very sound proof as we could not hear any noise of the construction at all from in our room, but once we opened the door it was pretty loud, but not disturbing. We were facing the lagoon with view of the tower and the restaurant and we still felt the view was gorgeous and peaceful especially at night.

Cons:
  • The food! I had much better food options when staying at POP last year. Even the food at Rix Bar & Grill was subpar. I ordered a burger and after taking a bite, instantly realize that the patty was NOT fresh meat and it was not cooked medium at all. The entire color of the meat was gray (not brown) and it was gross. The manager offered to bring me something else from the menu and suggested the chicken salad. I immediately knew upon delivery of the salad that the meat wasn't fresh grilled chicken, but something that was frozen. It was confirmed by the manager that the chicken was in fact, Tysons "grilled" chicken that had been thawed out and threw on a grill quickly before serving.
  • Bell Services! There were 2 incidences with Luggage/Bell Services that put a damper on our trip. The first incident was when we arrived our room was not yet ready so we stored our luggage with luggage services and headed to Disney Springs. While at DS we received the text that our room was ready so we headed back to the room. Upon arrival at the room, we used the room phone to call bell services. After being on hold for over 40 minutes (we called and hung up after 20 minutes the first time and waited another 20 minutes before giving up), we never were able to reach someone to bring our luggage to the room. So we ended up walking over there and they were very kind and immediately drove us and our bags back over to our room. While inconvenient, we were appreciative of how quick they were able to bring us back to our room.
The second incident was the following day. We had groceries delivered via Amazon Prime and the driver met us at luggage Services. We purchased a case of water and a bunch of other items and could not walk everything back to our room, as it was at the far end of the resort. We asked Bell services if they could help bring our groceries over and we were told all cast members were busy but that they would have someone available in about 15 minutes to bring our groceries to us but we had to be in the room in order for them to drop it off. No problem! The cast member wrote down our room number and we helped her store our groceries in the back office. We had about a 10 minute walk back to our room so we began our stroll. We waited about an hour after returning to our room before we started to get concerned about the time since we had a reservation coming up shortly and needed to be back at the park. I decided to give a call down to bell services in which they told me they never received a grocery delivery from us and that there was no way for them to verify that it had been given to them because I did not have a ticket number (wasn't given one). After going back and forth with the cast member, they told us they would look for our groceries and then give us a call back. We waited about another 10 minutes before my friend decided to walk over there and find out where our groceries were. When I finally received a phone call back, 20 minutes later, they said that they found our groceries but did not tell me where. My friend went with a cast member and found that our groceries had been delivered to another room, and our perishables had not been stored properly but were just sitting on top of a desk. We then went to the front desk and spoke with a cast member that then refunded us for our groceries and gave us both 3 any time fast passes each for the 3 days that we were staying with them. We did not ask for any compensation and as speaking with a cast member just to inform them that we had 2 incidents back to back that needed to be dealt with.

Overall, I would stay at Coronado Springs again in a heartbeat. It was a pleasant stay (minus the few hiccups with bell services), and the rooms and resort were beautiful! We actually were pretty bummed when it was time to move to Animal Kingdom Lodge because while it has a beautiful lobby and animal sightings, we felt the atmosphere and the rooms at Coronado were much more our cup of tea. When booking a room in the future, Coronado will be on the top of my list!

I know this review was pretty long, but I hope it helps someone when deciding to stay here! Please feel free to ask any questions!

Newbie to CSR! Staying in August 2019! Just booked airline and had to move our trip by one day and our original BB we booked for POR last Aug didn’t have any availability so we switched to CSR. Last several trips we have stayed deluxe so I like that I did read some say this is a “deluxe lite” resort. I’m reading through this thread for info and checking you tube for videos of the resort! Now we would like to add night of aug 13 to the beginning of our trip. I’ve called and the CMs say there isn’t any availability for that night. When I looked online every room in every resort category is unavailable for that night, even full priced rooms. Is there something big going on mid August at CSR or is it worth it to keep checking?

A large block of the standard view rooms in the new tower have been allocated to a certain travel agency to fill the rooms starting mid August.

I may or may not have got a really good deal from a certain travel agency that we aren't allowed to mention on DIS for our December trip. :rolleyes1

Me too... just switched our August reservation from the BC std view (which I do love) to a std view in the new tower and saved almost $900. CSR is our favorite moderate and with that savings, I just couldn't pass it up :thumbsup2

Edited 2/5/19: Just received my new confirmation and the savings was just over $1,000...even better :)

Thank you for that great review, ForeverJ! We are going to be staying at CSR, in a few months, for the first time. I planned on requesting Casitas 4. You mentioned bus stops 1 and 2. Are those both near the Casitas? Also, what is the bus app? Thanks!

Hi @KathyTbell! Yes, Bus stops 1 and 2 are both near the Casitas, but bus stop 2 will be closer to Casitas 4. We usually walked to Bus Stop 1 (which is outside of the main building) in the afternoons because it's the last stop before heading out of the resorts and to the parks and it made for a quicker commute. The walk from Casitas 5 to the main lobby/Bus Stop 1 was about 5-7 minutes for 2 adults.

On the MDE APP, if you click on your resort reservation once you arrive, it will bring you to a page that will have an option to view bus times. It will be located under the address for the resort and next to other options like "unlock resort room", "guest services", etc. Once you click on the bus wait times, you will have the option to choose the specific bus stop you plan on catching the bus from within the resort and see what the expected arrival is. I would also suggest being at the bus stop at least 5 minutes earlier as we noticed the buses would arrive a few minutes before the time listed.

Thank you for these details! We will also be moving to AKL after our Coronado stay. Can you share how you got your luggage moved? Did you use bell services or move it yourself? Trying to decide what will be best. We aren't planning a park day on our moving day, so we'd have time just to grab a Lyft or Minnie Van. But wondered if you had any experience with the transfer.
Thanks!
