Planning to cancel VGC 1 bed rez in June & Sept

I know the restaurant board has a cancel thread to let reservations being cancelled hopefully get picked up by fellow Disboarders. Has it ever been considered to have a similar thread on the DVC forum? I know wait list probably picks up most of the cancellations, but given that some people have more luck stalking, a "cancellation" thread might be a good idea.

It really only works for the DVC rooms if there aren't any waitlists set up. I tried once to coordinate with someone for a night I needed but it did not work. Restaurant reservations don't have waitlists so timing can work although even then you might run into someone who happens to be searching at that time so not always.

I wondered if there's a difference between people waitlisting for 1 night vs all the nights that come available. If someone put in the same dates that I'm cancelling and there is no other waitlist for that exact reservation, would it match before partial nights? Might be worth a try which is why I posted.

It’s supposed to go in order that the waitlists are created although all nights have to open for it to match. Ie, the system will not gather the nights until it has them all. Instead it would move down the order until it found a waitlist it could fill.
There aren’t always waitlists though so it’s a heads up for people anyway. I know I looked to see i anything from what you’re releasing would work but needed a night either in front or at the end to work with one or two nights you were releasing,

Thanks for the heads up! I realize it's a (very?) long shot but I put in a waitlist request for Sept 14-17. Assuming you have not cancelled it yet, I'll let you know if I get it. Worth a shot, even if unlikely (surely someone else has the weekend waitlisted already). You can't win if you don't play, right? Right! ;-).

I'd kill to grab those June dates - they start on my birthday! - but a trip just isn't in the cards for us this summer sadly.
