What's the most awesome hotel window view you've ever had; anywhere?

I don't usually go for the view from my hotel rooms as I don't usually spend a lot of time in them. We did have a view overlooking the parks from the Hilton Tokyo Bay. I mean, immediately I could see a parking lot, but I could also see Space Mountain, the Castle, Big Thunder Montain, The Arabian Coast at DisneySea, and the Monorail line that surrounds it. I'll call that not bad!

The view from the top floor suite of the Fairmont hotel in San Francisco. We had a panoramic view of the city on three sides looking north. We could never have afforded this suite but for some blessed reason the hotel upgraded us into this. The suite had 5 or 6 rooms giving us a view toward everything and was one of the highest points in the city. We could see everything from the ocean, the Golden Gate, Alcatraz, the city beneath us.

The hotel has been remodeled so I don’t think this massive suite still exists but staying there is something I will never forget.

LOL. I travel a lot for work and I often tell my husband I'm going to publish a coffee-table book of "HVAC systems I have seen." Seems like more times than not, I overlook the air conditioning units.

Back to topic -- I once had a conference at the Omni Amelia Island, Florida. Every room is oceanfront -- lovely!

Okay -- We did have a lovely view from the Cringletie House Hotel in Peebles, Scotland.

I can't remember the name of the hotel, but it was at London Heathrow Airport in 2003; we had a runway view, got to the room and *just* as we opened the curtains the Concorde was taking off! It was amazing.

I don't remember the hotel, but it was in Interlaken, Switzerland. Great view of the snow capped Alps.

Any of the water views we’ve had over the years-but my favorite was beachfront in Cabo looking over the Sea of Cortez. One morning we were sitting on the patio and a group of gray whales went by!

The view is only important to us if that's part of the vacation.

For instance a beach vacation having a beach/ocean view becomes one of the most important things or at the very least being very very close to the beach (as was the situation with our hotel room in Jamaica).

Oftentimes brand, price and location (like access to a highway) become the most important on most of our vacations. Didn't matter to us the view from the window in the Best Western near Penn Station in NJ just that it was within walking distance to Penn Station (so we could take transit into NYC) and the pricepoint was right for example.

We are not ones to sit in our room and look at the view, but we do spend lots extra to stay inside of the National Parks where we have gotten really lucky to get rooms with amazing views!!
-Right on the rim of Crater Lake at Crater Lake National Park Lodge.
-Right on the rim of the Grand Canyon with amazing views.
-Yosemite National Park Lodge with a view of the Yosemite Falls.
-Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park with views of both the lake and the stunning mountains.
-Kalaloch National Park Lodge in Olympic National Park, awesome views of the Pacific Ocean.
-I cant remember the name of the hotel even though it was just two years ago, but it was on the water in NJ with gorgeous views of NYC! Just stunning. We could see the Statue of Liberty too!
and last but not least!!
-The Boardwalk, where we ended up with a balcony twice as big as everyone around us and had a great view of Illuminations every night!

Can’t speak for hotels in national parks but we have been lucky a few times to stay in a 5th floor 2 bedroom at BWV that was long and wide. Very hard to leave that view to head to the parks.

:thumbsup2 Now that is a nice hotel!
Not to totally derail this thread, but the Hotel Del is not all it's cracked up to be. I was at a conference there two years ago, and 80 of us became violently ill after eating truffles prepared by the hotel (truffles identified by the health department as the source of illness). I'm currently involved in a class-action lawsuit against the hotel because of that incident. Ugh - I hope I'm never that sick again!

This one with the baobab tree overlooking Tarangire National Park. Our room was a stand-alone building situated right next to the pathway animals used to access the valley, which meant a constant stream of wildlife parading by.

And this one.

Honorable mention goes to the views in Shinjuku and Hilton Tokyo Bay (overlooking the Disney Parks).
