Disney While Pregnant June 2019

Hi everyone, hopefully I’m posting on the right board :duck:I’m currently planning a trip with my parents for the first week of June. DH and I had a huge surprise about a month ago.. I’m pregnant and due October 1st, so I’ll be 23 weeks the first week of June. Assuming I’m healthy and my doctor approves, I’m looking for advice from anyone that has done Disney in the second trimester.

Obviously I won’t be able to ride much, but we have APs that expire on November 30th and have only made one trip this year, so trying to at least get one more trip out of them. We’ve been close to 30 times, so not worried about this being a once in a lifetime trip.

Are there any tours/special experiences that you did while pregnant and enjoyed? I’m considering Keys to the Kingdom and Up Close with Rhinos. I really wanted to do Sense of Africa, but it includes a safari ride and says expectant mothers shouldn’t participate. Also looking at the Undiscovered Future World Tour in Epcot (not sure how interesting this would be?) And possibly H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon just because it’s new to us since we don’t usually go in the summer.

Thanks in advance!

I went while pregnant several years ago, and I was pretty close to the same week that you will be when you go. The best thing about Disney is that there is a lot more that you will be able to do than you won't. Of course you can't do anything super crazy, but rides like POTC or Frozen is doable even with those tiny little drops. As for walking tours, I didn't go on any while pregnant, but if you feel comfortable doing all of that walking I highly recommend Keys to the Kingdom. Congratulations!!

I went to Disney World for my first time when I was 32 weeks pregnant! I had a great time and could ride almost anything my (at-the-time) 2 year old could ride! (The only exception was Barnstormer). Just take rests if you're tired, and have fun!

There are only a few rides you won’t be able to go on, congratulations!

Thank you!

Thanks! I’m not a huge thrill ride person anyway, but I will miss my rides on Everest and Tower of Terror! As many times as we’ve been we have barely done any of the tours, so I figured this would be a good time to try something new!

Sounds like a great time! I think Magic Kingdom will definitely be the most ride friendly for me. Just hoping we can find things to do at the other parks!

I went at 15 weeks over Memorial Day weekend 2015. I spent a lot more time resting/people watching than usual. Make sure to stay hydrated!!! The heat got to me more than I was expecting.

I actually took the opportunity to do some solo touring, particularly in MK, where there are lots of pregnant-friendly rides while DH did the big rides.

Congratulations, and have fun!!

Thank you! I’m going on 10 weeks now and I’m SO TIRED. I’m hoping I’ll get that burst of energy in the second trimester that everyone keeps telling me about :rotfl:

I’m worried about the heat because we usually go in April/May, but Easter and my sister’s wedding is sort of throwing that off this year. Our usual touring plan is mornings and nights with an afternoon break at the resort, so definitely planning on napping during the heat of the day. I also want to start some sort of autograph book for baby with as many characters as I can find, so that should keep me preoccupied :thumbsup2

Also ask your OB for an anti nausea med. Pregnancy does bonkers things to us. I've never been car sick IN MY LIFE. I was on anti nausea meds anyway, but for some reason that drive home from my babymoon made me bonkers nauseous. (Un)luckily I had medication with me to help.

Congratulations! When we took our last Disney trip in June '17 I was 24 weeks pregnant with our third. It was very hot but doable with lots and lots of water. Since our other kids were 6 and 3 at the time I didn't feel like I missed out on much because many of the bigger rides my son wanted to go on, my daughter didn't so we often split up. For example, DH and DS did Tower of Tower while we went to the Frozen Sing Along. The only ride the rest of my family enjoyed while I waited alone was the safari at AK. Having done it a few times in the past I didn't really mind. If you're feeling good, which I was at that point in the pregnancy, it likely won't make much of a difference or you beyond ride restrictions. Maybe check out one of the resort spas to treat yourself!

Congratulations! I'm guessing this is your first baby. You're right that things will feel better in the second trimester. I was about 22 weeks or so when I went in June (but I was also dragging a one year old around so not quite the same). It was perfectly manageable for me with the pregnancy. Yes, you'll have to skip the thrill rides, but they aren't going anywhere, and if you have an AP, you're obviously the kind of person who will return eventually. I'd take advantage of the TiW card if you have an AP and book lots of buffets. May as well get your money's worth while your appetite is big!
