Game Shows from Earlier Times

Card sharks. Higher higher lower freeze! We used to play this with a deck of card as kids.

Love game shows. Always did. Used to watch with my grandma in the 70’s. She called them quiz shows.

I will never forget the summer of 1986...I was 8 years old and of course off for summer vacation, and my mom has just had my brother so she was home for the summer on maternity leave. Our days consisted of nothing but lounging around watching game shows...our favorites were Press Your Luck, Tic Tac Dough, Card Sharks, Pyramid and Million Dollar Chance of a Lifetime. Best summer of my young life having my mom who usually worked full time home every day.....even if it meant a new baby brother. :-)

I enjoyed the older Password and Match Game. The originals, not the revived ones in the late 70s.

Plus $10,000/$25,000/$50,000 + Pyramid.

My mom was on the original Match Game in the 60s. Saw it being taped, as well as Concentration that day.

If you won five straight games, you automatically won a car. You could choose among any of the five displayed cars. I remember a guy picking the station wagon instead of the Camaro!!!!

In 7th grade, three other girls and I did a skit in history class based on the Split Second format. The cars were those battery powered Hot Wheels with a switch on the bottom to make them run. I didn't win.

HAHA the host pretty much ragged on him without directly coming out and saying YOU FOOL!!!

On the last show ever the guy picked the station wagon and lost. But they gave it to him anyway.

loved game shows growing up. Grew up in the 60s and loved all the ones mentioned from that era. My moms friend went on a show hosted by Bill Cullen and believe it was called Eye Guess. She won 7 trips as well as other items. She cashed the trips in to make one trip, 3 months traveling through Europe with her family.

Oh Gene Rayburn..."Doesn't she have pretty nipples?" Meaning, of course to say DIMPLES! Oh man - I laughed til I cried.

The game was secondary in the Match Game of the late 70's. It was primarily about D-list celebrities telling stale and risque jokes.

My parents were on Let's Make a Deal when it returned to MGM studios in the early 90's. My mom was in the end of the show where Monty Hall would ask guests for random items, and she had one of every type of coin in her purse, won $200 :)

Edit: Speaking of Let's Make a Deal...if you've never heard of it, look up the Monty Hall Paradox, it's FASCINATING about probability and math and stuff.

Queen for a Day :sad2:, Gong Show, Beat the Clock, $64,000 Question, Stop the Music

My mother said she occasionally watched Queen for a Day. The show was broadcast live, and my mother mentioned that one time a sore loser started to cause a scene before the camera quickly cut away.
