Netflix What are you watching?

Trying to get through the last 5 Marvel series. Jessica Jones 2, Iron Fist 2, Luke Cage 2, Daredevil 3 and Punisher 2.

Person of Interest is my current go to when nothing really stands out.

In my opinion, don't bother watching Person of Interest past the third season. I binge watched it, so seeing the changes in the show during a condensed time period only magnified how bad the show was getting. The first 2 1/2 seasons were great. But, then Jim Caviezel wanted more time off the show. It was evident. But. . . he's the LEAD. :headache: He also had chronic back & body pains (from being crucified) during "The Passion of the Christ," so he could no longer do all the physical stunts his character required. Taraji P. Henson left the show, they brought in two new women to fill in the airtime for Caviezel & Henson. The concept of the show got really bizarre and the show went on a quick decline by the middle of Season 3. :badpc

Just finished two seasons of Bondi Rescue. Person of Interest is my current go to when nothing really stands out.

I watched this recently and it made me so angry!! Why do all these people go in the ocean who can’t swim?!? Also don’t know why so many people take beach vacations there. Everything in the ocean and the ocean itself is trying to murder you there.

We liked El Barco too, plus Ulises isn’t bad to look at:cloud9:

Right now I’m watching Departures on Canadian Netflix and loving it. It is more about their journey than the travel sometimes which makes it interesting

I loved El Barco as well. I’m a sucker for end of the world as we know it type movies and shows (huge bonus if it’s some disease/virus).

The Great British Bake Off.
I love it!! Its relaxing to me. Like watching a fish tank. Its so calm, people are civilized, and they win a trophy type thing so no money involved.
I dont bake and have no desire to, but this is fun! :flower1:

My favourite show on Netfliy is One Day at a Time.

I also watch:
Grace and Frankie
Sex Education
Riverdale (really liked the first season, not as much after that)
Jessica Jones
Sugar Rush
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

and I really liked Everything Sucks and Designated Survivor before they were cancelled

One we just finished binge watching that is new on Netflix is Northern Rescue with William Baldwin. Really enjoyed it. Also really enjoyed several mentioned above like Grace and Frankie and Ozark.

I really like Death in Paradise, so I'm not sure you'll like my others, but since you like Shetland:

Father Brown
Midsomer Murders
Miss Fischer's Murder Mysteries
Doctor Blake Mysteries
The Crown
Broadchurch
Sherlock

I've watched The Magicians as well, but I lost interest somehow. I've got friends who say it continues to to be good.

On my list (should be good but haven't worked through them) are Wallander with Kenneth Branagh, Last Tango in Halifax with Derek Jacobi, and the series Vexed.

Some movies that I've enjoyed are Quartet with Maggie Smith and the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

Nothing right now on Netflix. The kids have Chromecasts on the TV's at their mother's. They saw the Amazon Prime app on my TV and got excited because they can't watch Amazon on the Chromecast. So they logged in and now it's active on my TV :D

Thus, I've been trying to find the Sopranos online forever. That's what I've been watching along with all the Mob documentaries. Can't remember the last time I looked at Netflix.

I'm on the final season of Star Trek Enterprise. So I'm trying to find something that's going to take its place soon :) I try to watch a lot of these that y'all watch but I can't get into most of them. I have loved Call the Midwife and Travelers. I think I'm going to try The Umbrella Academy next..we'll see how that goes!

If you have Amazon Prime, the Eureka series is wonderful -- quirky, but good. Thinking of going through it again (it's been a really long time since we've watched it).

YES! I LOVE this show. :worship: :worship: :worship: It's one of my favorite shows that I binged.

I wrote this in a previous binge-watching thread here:

This show is so much better than the American skill-based competition shows. They believe in the viewers' intelligence and that we are tuning in to see a REAL competition. They believe an honest to goodness competition with genuine people with creative talent wanting to win is enough. :thumbsup2 They don't cast contestants or keep them around for created drama like Top Chef, and Project Runway with the twins this season who shouldn't even be on. :headache: :badpc:

The Great British Baking Show, had one contestant who seemed to be really victimy and the kind of person who always has a bunch of trauma dramas for attention. When one of the dramas involved ruining another contestant's chances, Bam! they got rid of this person. :p

There are a few ways to watch episodes:
If you don't have Netflix, or even if you do, you may be able to catch the most recent season showing in the U.S. (2016) on your local PBS channel. That's how I started watching it. My local PBS channel has 3 upcoming episodes scheduled. :thumbsup2 Yours may re-air the season a few times, especially during their pledge drives. The current 2017 season is airing now in Britain, so we won't get that till next year on PBS over here. :teleport:

If you have Netflix, they only have 3 seasons out of the total 7 seasons. But, they never mention the winners of the previous seasons, so they are well worth watching even without the seeing the previous seasons.

Dailymotion (a French YouTube-type site) has the 4 earliest seasons under the show's original British name, "The Great British Bake OFF". (Apparently the Pillsbury company owns the trademark to the term "Bake Off," for their annual Pillsbury Bake Off contest, so the show had to change the name here in the states.) The renamed seasons here are not the same season numbers in the UK. Netflix isn't showing it from the real start. I think our seasons 1-3 are really 4-6 there. Season 7 (UK) is on PBS - it is called Season 4 here. However, be warned: Dailymotion does NOT have the finale episodes for their seasons 1-3. :badpc: You have to hunt around on the web for them at some European streaming sites. I think the BBC had DailyMotion remove the finale episodes. YouTube doesn't have ANY episodes here. Or you can Google for the name of the winners.

If (general) you are still on the fence about the show, don't just take my word for it, here are two reviews:

If you do decide to watch, you will need a language translator as British English is not the same as American English :upsidedow especially when it comes to pastries.:lmao:

It took me forever to figure out that what they refer to as "sponge" is just regular cake, like yellow cake - what we have for Birthday cake. :cake: Not the really light, airy angel food cake - which we call a sponge cake. "Pudding" over there, I had to Google, and I'm still not sure about it. It seems to be anything :confused3 savory or sweet, with breading or cake and diced chunks of meat or fruit, baked in a deep ceramic bowl and flipped out of the bowl as a solid. It's definitely not mousse-like, like our Jello pudding or the Snack Pack puddings we send our kids off to school with. Their "biscuits" are cookies here. Not sure what they call a plain ole buttermilk biscuit. :confused3

Did I mention I love this show? :lmao:

My dd and I LOVED Eureka! We were upset when the took it off. And, rats!, I don't have Amazon Prime :)
