3 Night Cruise Question

We have never been on a cruise and we were thinking about booking just a 3 night cruise to see if we like it. Is it more of a party cruise on the 3 night cruises vs 4 nights? Just trying to decide if we would enjoy it. We like have a good time, shows, entertainment, etc....but just not big party people.

Taking a three night cruise to see if you like cruising is a good idea. 3 night cruises go by fast, read the schedule, decide what you want to do, and do it! Have fun! We just booked a three night cruise in June to see what RCCL’s changes on Coco Cay are all about.

I did a 3 night on the Mariner of the Seas - the ship is nice but it's a smaller ship. On this ship ( we did a May cruise ) the vibe was festive but not overly party, party, party. I was in my early 40s so it was a perfect time.

It may have a different vibe during Spring Break or when the kids are out of school.

I liked it so much I booked a 7 night So. Caribbean on the Adventure of the Seas.

It’s a good way to test the waters, but three-day cruises are kind of different. They can be more of a weekend party spring break/bachelor party vibe. In addition to that they feel really hectic, even for seasoned cruisers who aren’t trying to do it all.

By the time you get into your room it’s afternoon, then you can’t do all that much before you have to be to your station for the muster drill. The first day really feels like a travel day until later in the evening once the ship has left port. The final day is done by 8am when you need to clear out of your room. The whole ship just feels more frenetic on weekend cruises.

We just got off of a 4 night cruise on Enchantment of the Seas and it was a HUGE party atmosphere. A huge turnoff since we have young kids. I definitely wouldn’t take a short cruise anywhere near spring break if you aren’t looking for that type of atmosphere. It was horrible!

I think it depends on the ship and the time of year. A short cruise on an older ship during Spring Break? You couldn't pay me to go on it. LOL

I've done WDW and DCL at the end of Spring Break 2017... It was intense. So crowded. People were noticeably more stressed out (and some of them even a little bit rude)... Which makes me think more affordable vacations would possibly be worst. I would not book a vacation during spring break again.

I've done non-DCL short cruises in October and mid-April (right after Spring Break) and they were really quiet.

Would end of June be as bad for a 3 night?
Probably. Most of the horror stories I've heard have been during Spring Break. I think it also depends on the ship and the day of the week. A cheap cruise over the weekend will have more people in party mode.

It’s a Friday to monday 3 night. Not super cheap about 1,200 at the lowest for 2. But I don’t know if it was cheaper earlier . I saw same ship and schedule is much cheaper at other parts of the year like next feb is like $600 for 2

You won't find any differences between a 3 and 4 night cruise.

I love the three/four night cruises and I take them all the time (except for Spring Break, never then!). This past year, I have gone in August (took DS1), November (SOLO!) and January (took DS2). It is a way for me to get a break in without having to take so much time off of work. In addition, I am able to get some one on one time with each kid, or go solo!

I have never found it to be a crazy party atmosphere, but again I never go during spring break. The shows/entertainment is not very different between 3 and 4 night cruises, it all depends on which ship you choose as almost all of the 3/4 nighters go to the same ports.

That should be fine. Yes there may be some groups in party mode but it's not going to be like Spring Break where they're everywhere.
