Late to the party...

Well I am late to the party as usual. My life is super hectic right now. We are leaving for Orlando on Saturday and I have not been doing any research about Disney. It's been 14 years since we were last there. We will be with 2 adult children and 2 17 year olds. One doesn't remember much about going to Disney and the other one has never been to Florida. We are going to do one day of Disney and a water park one day. I'm debating on a park hopper pass or just doing one park. I was wondering if there are still places that offer discount tickets for Disney and what some of the newer attractions might be that a teenager would like. Any tips you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Get those tickets and make fast past reservations ASAP if you can. I would go to magic kingdom since it’s what most think of when you say “Disney”. Get there early for rope drop, say, an hour before park open and hit some rides before your fast passes. And read the fast pass thread for getting more fast passes.
And have fun!

1 park, no hopper. Get those tickets and set some fast passes in the morning. And right after you use that 3rd one, get on that app and book your next one. And keep checking each time slot because rides pop up all the time. Use magic bands, and have an awesome visit.
You won’t see or do it all, even in 1 park but you can have a great visit!!

Are the kids really into the water parks? is it going to be warm enough to spend the day at the water park? Just asking because we were there in April last year and found a few days chilly and not a "lets spend the day at the water park".

If no water park then you could pick 2 parks to do - i would do Epcot and MK if that were the case and if you are only doing one park then make it MK. Get to the park before opening ( at least a 1/2 hour before scheduled opening). Print out a map of the park (go on easyWDW) us this to formulate a plan of attack. Usually it is better to hit the left side of the park (adventure land) first for very short waits for rides like pirates and jungle cruise, then move on to splash mt and big thunder MT. Then just follow the park clock wise. Rides like mine train will have a long wait and you will likely not get a FP for it (use the app to keep track of wait times if you notice a shorter wait (<45 minutes) try to ride. You might be able to get a FP for space Mt (guessing the kids will like the more "thrill rides"), but if not also keep an eye on the wait times.

Download the my Disney experience app - create an account and become familiar with how the app works. You can also snag a dining reservation on this app too (there is a fee if you don't show up or cancel by the night before).

With one day you won't be able to see and do it all but hopefully you can just go and enjoy some family time.

Thank you for the advice. We are going to do MK. Water parks are still a family favorite so we are going to do one of those if the weather permits. No matter what we see or don't see it will be quality family time and I'm looking forward to that.

Undercover tourist and other discount ticket sites do not offer discounts on one day tickets. Quite a lot has changed in 14 years. I recommend buying tickets immediately and booking what fast passes you can and understanding you will probably be stuck waiting standby. It's spring break in IL/WI and I know of at least 5 schools sending music/band departments. I'm sure lots of other schools are doing the same. As well as lots of other families taking advantage of spring break.

So how did it go?
