Selling on Poshmark?

Could anyone give me details or experiences with selling on Poshmark? I have SO MANY CLOTHES and am sick of lugging everything to yard sales and then still ending up with half of it leftover. I'm just leery of selling things online!

How do you get your earnings? Does it get deposited in a bank account?

I have been on there a number of years. You can have the money deposited into an account but I always request a check. I did amazing in the beginning. I'm not doing as well now. I think there are too many sellers and not enough buyers. I also find shipping too be expensive but I hate paying shipping on any site. So I think that deturs buyers that only find one thing in your closet that they like. If they like multiple things then the shipping isn't as bad. It's a bit time consuming in the beginning as you have to take all the pictures etc. Ater the initial setup it's not as time consuming, you can sit on your phone while watching TV or whatever and keep sharing your items. I don't think it would hurt to try and see how you do. If you sign up pop back on here with your user name and I'll share your closet for you to get some exposure.

The money goes straight in your bank account but I think you can request a check.

Serious low ballers on there so I price items a little higher than what I want to get closer to what I want.

The other problem is many sellers think their items are worth way more than they really are worth. Unless something is new with tags or high-end designer then I find that it isn't worth my time to try to sell most items.

Poshmark is really best for designer and high-end labels. Also, it's pretty annoying to have to ship the items yourself every time something sells. And you have a limited time between when you sell the item and when you have to ship it (I think it must ship in 2-3 days). I prefer using thredUP for selling brand-name clothes that aren't designer. They take a lot of brands, ranging from Old Navy to Lilly Pulitzer. It's still not that great - you don't really make that much off of each item unless they are higher-end brands... but you can at least ship it all out at once and clear the space. Also, they reject any items that don't meet their requirements, but you can choose to have them donate them or send them back.

Do you think the prices ThredUp pays you are fair? I ordered a bag but saw it's $10.99 to ship clothes back! That's crazy!

For the service they provide, I think it's fair. They photograph the clothes and list them for you. The clothes I send to ThredUp are the clothes that aren't super high-end, but are still in style, so I don't necessarily want to just donate. I got $11 for a Lilly Pulitzer dress with the tags still on it, which I wasn't exactly thrilled about, but I wasn't having any luck selling on Poshmark, so they ultimately did the work for me and it's better than nothing. For blouses and casual dresses, you just get a few dollars per item.

If you think you're going to want the clothes back, I wouldn't suggest sending them in. The mail-back fee is not worth it.
