POFQ or POR in 2020? Only been to CSR with construction

We made our first Disney trip in many years this past October. We stayed at CSR and while we really enjoyed it and it is difficult to break the attachment, I think we are planning to go with one of the Port Orleans resorts in the Summer of 2020.

We appreciated the refurbished rooms at CSR but not the construction. We did find the CSR buses were really good for getting to the parks.

The Port Orleans resorts were our first choice but were booked. This time we are planning well in advance.

If we go Summer 2020 will both resorts be complete as far as refurbishments and construction?

Will walking be less at both as compared to CSR? We were in the Ranchos and it was a bit of a hike to the lobby area. We like the look of POFQ but the amenities of POR

We did take the boat from Riverside to Disney Springs. It seemed like a very long bus route for those. We didn't get to see much of the actual resorts or walk around them.

I have not stayed at POR (but it looks very pretty, thematically) but I have been to POFQ. I really loved the small footprint of POFQ. Quick walk to anywhere there, and just 1 bus stop. We walked over to POR for dinner one evening, nice walk along the water and didn't take long at a leisurely pace. I am unable to return there because we are 5, but if I could I would.

I stayed at POFQ in 2016. The small footprint is definitely a plus - the furthest room (and we were in it!) is about the same distance from the bus stop as the average room is at POR.

POFQ is by far our favorite Mod. Love the quaint little brick paths and street names. PP's have mentioned the small footprint and that is very important in terms of the bus transportation as most of the time you have your own busses. The pool is not up to the level of CSR, CBR or POR but since you can hop on over to POR it allows you the extra benefit of having two themed pool areas. We are signature dining people that prefer a nice sit down meal every night and while POFQ does not have one, we found ourselves on the boat to DS every evening. Probable the biggest plus I have for FQ is just the tranquility. We never heard our neighbors. On any trip. Have now gotten used to staying in DVC villa's but if I were going to book a mod, FQ would definitely be it. POR a distant second.

Another person who loves FQ. Being an overplanning IT type I actually timed the place. It has a small footprint and from the docks to the bus was 8 minutes. The last time we stayed there (2012) I paid for standard (always do) and they upgraded us to a 2nd floor garden view which was just 4 minutes from the bus, 3 to the pool and 5 to the dock. A perfect spot.

They are sister resorts. If you stay at POFQ, you can use the amenities at POR, and vice versa. You can access either resort through a walkable path between them.

Bus route to the parks? The resorts aren't as centrally located as CSR, but the difference is negligible to us. We did notice that the bus ride to MK from POR was shorter than CSR. The boat to Disney Springs can be time consuming, taking about 25 minutes. It moves at a slow pace.

Our family has stayed at both POFQ and CSR during construction and loved both. Our very first family trip was to POFQ so it will always have a special place in my heart. I love the small footprint, single bus stop and quaint theming. I booked CSR for our second trip because the rate was much lower (POFQ does not typically offer as many discounts).

The rest of my family preferred CSR. My kids liked the pool and playground better (though we never walked over to the POR pool which you also have access to at POFQ). My husband preferred the theming, grounds, food court and entire pool area (seating area and bar/restaurant). We all liked the refurbished rooms better. We were in Cabanas building 8A which was right next to both the main pool and the bus stop which was convenient.

The resorts each have a very different feel but we loved them both and enjoyed the variety of experiences. You can’t go wrong either way!

We have stayed at all three! We love the quietness and small foot print of POFQ! We are a family of five and the youngest got old enough to be counted so we had to stay in Alligator Bayou at POR. I really didn't care for it because it felt like we were so far from everything! However, once when our oldest didn't get to come, we stayed in a Royal room at POR at the request of our youngest, and I really liked the location and feel of that area! I like the food courts of all three! We have had bad luck twice eating at the TS at POR...food was very subpar. We won't try it again. Too many other options to try!

Give POFQ a try! I think you will really like staying there!

POFQ. Imho. Is a deluxe resort with moderate pricing. It’s one of Wdw best resorts. Period.

POFQ has a nice small footprint. I love POR, especially alligator bayou.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either one.

Seems like most everyone answered your questions about room refurbs. Most of what was/is being done is soft goods and not major remodeling of the rooms. POR is BIG and depending on room location you may be walking far. POFQ is much smaller and you get the benefit of POR amenities. We prefer POR, the walking doesn't bother us. We've stayed in both the alligator bayou and the mansions in the royal rooms. We love the resorts as they feel very peaceful and serene. Never appear noisy and a really feel like we are the only ones there, other than the lobby and food court areas.

We love POR. We've stayed in both the mansions and alligator bayou, and loved both. But yes, there is some walking. Didn't bother us too much (even in the heat of summer) since we love the grounds and theming at POR so much. I love that POFQ is a small size and would require less walking, but the theming doesn't appeal to us as much as POR's does, which has prevented us from staying there yet. That and sometimes POR gets better discounts than POFQ.

If you like the look of POFQ better and are concerned about long walks, then I'd just stay there. You still get to use all of POR's amenities.

I've stayed at both, and you can't go wrong with either! I do prefer POFQ a little more because it is smaller, and it's the first place I ever stayed, so it's special to me. You can always take a boat ride over if you want to visit both. POR is lovely too; we requested (didn't pay) a room close to everything and managed to get one, so we didn't end up doing much walking. However, I've heard depending where you stay, it can be a long walk. I also do like that POFQ only has one bus stop, as opposed to four at POR.
