Riverside (Which section do you prefer) ?

Recently just switched to a couple nights at POR. Staying Royal Guest Room this time. Last year stayed in Aligator Bayou section.

Whats the general consensus as to which area is better (AB or Mansions). Specifically location to bus stops, walk to pool, closeness to lobby etc.

Seems from the searching I was doing most people prefer to AB section. Just wondering why that would be.

Prefer AB area, bldg 14 followed by 18. Only way we stay at POR. Imho the Royal guest rooms were disney way of UPselling undesirable location rooms. Smart marketing. We got a free uograde for the room and while I greatly enjoyed the details, I’d never pay for it.
I choose AB preferred, as its closest to south depot, closest to main area of food court/store etc.
just prefer it. Have stayed there over 20 times. A fav from way back... when it was Dixie Landings.

We stayed in AB our first visit and a royal room our last visit and I prefer AB. Feels closer to dining and pools and I much prefer the Deep South vibe on the AB side vs. the manicured mansion side.

This is exactly how I feel.

I really love the AB area, even though I feel like I’m in a maze at times. I’m always certain I’ll get lost in the dark.

We love AB! I feel like it is closer to most everything however I do have to agree that is it very easy to get turned around. While the mansions are pretty and the rooms are decorated nicely, a big part of what we love about POR is the nature feel. You don't really get that in the mansions but the second you step into AB you are surrounded by lush greens and that is just fantastic.

AB definitely. I love the theming. If u paid for preferred, then 14 is closest to everything, followed by bldg 18. If u don't pay the preferred price, then bldg 27 would be closest. I like bldgs 25, 26, and 39 since they aren't near the parking lots or the main pool. I like as a quiet as possible and don't mind walking especially through the beautiful grounds and especially now in Springtime.

Bucking the trend here, we prefer the mansions. Both areas are landscaped beautifully for their themes, but we much prefer the manicured lawns and stately elegance of Magnolia bend.

I like the AB section because it has more foliage and it has great landscaping. I prefer the mansion room, though because it has a real dresser with drawers. Some AB rooms are closer to a bus stop and lobby than mansion rooms, and some mansion rooms are closer than some AB rooms. You will get people who like one section more than another, but I think AB might be more popular because of the 5th sleeping surface.

Another vote for AB. We love the theme and the general feel. It was also convenient to the main building & bus stop.

We also preferred the mansions. We have stayed in both regular and royal rooms. We enjoyed the walk to the Mill and we could also take bus to FQ and walk back to our room easily if the the POR bus stop was really crowded.

Even though it’s a little further from the pool and main building, I prefer the mansions also. I KNOW this sounds dumb but I didn’t like the headboards in the AB rooms. It had widely spaced spindly branch like slats so I was uncomfortable propped up watching tv, reading, or using my iPad. Like I said, it’s trivial but made enough of an impression for me to not go back if rooms in the mansion section was available.

RRs in the Mansions, pool or river view. Love the theming so much more than that of AB, though I do like AB’s refurbished rooms. Excellent location too and NOT in an undesirable part of POR. To say RRs are all in ‘undesirable locations’ is just incorrect. Some buildings in AB are just as far from everything as some Mansion rooms.

We prefer AB because of the trundle bed for the 5th person. Otherwise, it looks to me that it's pretty evenly divided, with the "left" side being AB and the "right" side being mansions. I guess Mansions would be a tad closer to POFQ, so if you are planning to walk there, that would be the only advantage. Both sides are nice!

We love the mansions. Our children are grown and it just seems a bit more quiet.

We prefer the mansions. Our first onsite stay as a family was at POFQ and one night we decided to take the boat over to POR. As soon as we saw the mansion buildings we fell in love! A couple trips later we stayed there in a royal room and it was everything we wanted and then some! I don't consider the walk to the main building bad at all, and as long as we avoid the South Depot, we have no issues with the buses. I also like that the mansions are so close to the FQ, we'll walk over there and the FQ bus coming back if the line is shorter.
That being said, with the room refreshes, I do like the looks of the AB rooms much better now, and DD loves the extra Princess and the Frog touches in there so we might try one of those rooms some day.

After a stay in the Mansion section last month, we prefer the AB. I kinda think more people do prefer AB therefore you have to pay extra now to be certain you get in there.

Stayed in both, enjoyed both. Can't go wrong either way although I did often feel lost in AB (but always managed to orient myself eventually). If it's hot out, AB seems to give more shade on the walk to food. :)

We stayed on AB side and loved it. We were in rook 1604 which was awesome. It's a five minute walk to everything. Dining, pool as well as the maun bus stop. Landscaping is awesome. Really loved it.
