Yesterday movie and a query

I’m really excited about the new movie “Yesterday”. It made me think of a question.

If you met someone who had never heard of the Beatles, what one song would you play for them to get them to listen to more of their songs.

Something that showed off all of their talents?

A classic hit?

Something obscure?

Not sure, either "Help" or "Yesterday"

.... or "Yellow Submarine"

Yesterday was the first one that popped into my head.

I can’t wait to see this movie. It’s a neat concept.

It’s hard to pick just one but I’d pick A Hard Day’s night and Come Together. One from the early years and one from the later years. To me I wouldn’t start with their “trippy” music because most who don’t understand the greatness of those songs wouldn’t like them.

Personally Let it Be and Something are my favorites but not sure if I would make them the first songs to hear.

Yes, this. I love “Yesterday”, but to me, it’s essentially a Paul McCartney solo song. I don’t think the others were even on the record at all.

I'd go with a grouping sample, and some variety...

In My Life
Mother Nature's Son
Rocky Raccoon
I've Just Seen a Face
Help!
Blackbird
Eleanor Rigby
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End
Magical Mystery Tour

A little mini playlist to show wide variety in sound, acoustic/electric/serious/fun/vocals. A little bit of something for everyone. Then based on interest, I'd make another mini playlist with solo stuff.

I would pick “Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey” off The Beatles album.

It shows off all of their talents and just rocks.

It would depend on the person and what their tastes are. The Beatles did such a wide variety of music there is pretty much something for every taste. But not knowing a single thing about this person, I'd go with "Here Comes The Sun." It's not necessarily their best song, but it's top tier and the message is universal. At one time it was the most downloaded song in their entire catalog.
