Halloween Time Superthread 2019: "Oogie Boogie Bash" Party to Be Held in DCA ONLY! and Other Halloween Time Information

To clarify: MNSSHP is only at WDW. Mickey's Halloween Party (MHP) used to be at DL up until last year. This year, the Halloween Party is the Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA (not DL). There are no parties at all on Fridays or Saturdays during Halloween Time this year.
Look at the first post in this Superthread; all the information you want is there.
Great , thank you for the recap!

I bought our party tickets today! We are going on 9/29 and then just one day park hoppers for the next day. We are staying at the Anaheim Desert Inn for the first time.

I'm very disappointed that the Halloween Party is in DCA... but, because I have a son graduating soon and this is likely our last Disneyland Family Vacation, we pulled the trigger on the tickets tonight - including the Halloween party.

The problem I have with the DCA relocation is two fold - No firework show (the best part of the party), and fewer 'great' rides in DCA to take advantage of diminished crowds. WOC is lame, to me. Very few have a good view of the show, and even when you do, it's just not very impressive. Fireworks are far superior, IMHO. In addition, I anticipate long lines for GotG, RSR, TSMM, and IC. Most everything else is just not e-Ticket worthy - so without FPs, most likely we will spend the party time standing in lines.

The Good? Well, the decor is just great. Bats flying out of the bell tower were really cool, and Carsland (the best addition to DLR since Indiana Jones) was fantastic last year. We love DLR, so just going will be great. I admit that while it is expensive, Disney does a great job of giving value for the dollar - in the little things that are overlooked at most entertainment venues. This may sound ridiculous, but I appreciate the fact that trash doesn't last long on the ground.

I’m hoping there are some dining packages, hopefully with a reserved spot for the parade (or seated, or dessert party!) and same for World of Color.

It would be really awesome if they themed a couple dinners to be Halloween-ish.

I'm so excited that we are finally going back to Disneyland for a second time and for Halloween! We normally do DW and MNSSHP (which we are doing this year, too!) I wanted to ask the experts here about our situation. We've booked a vacation package through the Disneyland website. I called the Disney Visa Card reservation line because I wanted to add a day to my reservation and wanted to get OBB tickets. They were able to do all this for me, but I don't see my OBB tickets showing via my reservation number on the Disneyland website (it does show my regular park tickets, though). I asked the CM if the tickets would be mailed to me separately or if they would be included in the my vacation documents that get delivered to my hotel's front desk. She said they didn't know. She charged the Disney Visa for the tickets and the total amount under the reservation # seems to include the OBB tickets, but they aren't a separate line item. Since they were added to an existing package - Does anyone if I'll receive them in the mail? or will they be part of my arrival documents? Any advice is greatly appreciated :) Love reading about everyone's plans!

I’ve seen a few people mentioning FP’s at the party. Can you buy MaxPass just for the party? Is it necessary? The one party I went to we didn’t use or need FP’s

SleepyHollowBoys-As for tickets I believe since you bought them over the phone you should get them in the mail..

Fast pass is for the few extra hours before the official party starts.

What GenGen22 said. Only the few hours before the party. During the party that system is not active.

I'm also hoping for the WOC dessert party!

Thank you! I can’t see buying MP for those few hours. Maybe we’ll get some paper FP’s or go enjoy something other than an attraction during that time

If your going to the party, the party ticket includes max pass for a few hours before the party. I'm not sure if I explained this in my previous post. For example they let you into the park I believe its 3 hours before the party with the party ticket. During those three hours max pass is included. I've never used it personally but I have an AP so, I'm usually already in the park way before the 3 hours so, it doesn't really matter to me personally.

Thank you, Lindyv321! I'll keep my eyes on the mailbox and report back :) Appreciate the help! :tigger:

I took advantage of the Maxpass feature one year and it was of limited benefit. You cannot make any FPs until after you've scanned into the park using the party ticket. On the day I went, by the time we got in, there weren't a lot of FP options left. Most of the big attractions in DL had already run out. Over in DCA, there were more FP still available (because the park was open later), many had times were already past the start of the party by the time I looked. I would nominally guess that the opposite will be true this year (i.e., assuming DL is open later, it'll have more FP options available at the start of the overlap than DCA).

Since we won’t be in the parks before the party and FP’s will be scarce we may wait to do any attractions and just go hit up Animation Academy or the new PhilharMagic show or eat dinner.

The last party we went to in DL we arrived early ate dinner and then headed directly to Toon town since that area was open to partygoers only. I wonder if there will be a specific area in DCA that is open to partygoers only during that overlap when everybody is allowed in the parks???

That’ll be our plan as well I think. I’ll check to see what, if any, FPs are available when we arrive, but rides won’t be our focus. I’m thinking of making a reservation for Lamplight Lounge during that time.

I’m also curious to see if they will have a pre-party area at DCA. Maybe Redwood Creek Challenge Trail? The description sounded like they are planning to add a lot of theming to this area for Halloween time.

I'm also wondering if there will be a pre-party. Guess we have to wait until the first party for people to report back.

I agree with this. Probably the biggest advantage to the MP feature on the previous party tickets was the possibility of grabbing cancelled FPs if any popped up on the app. This was easier for a small group -- not sure how easy this would be for larger groups. And since the party ticket isn't a hopper this year, there is no possibility of using MP over at DL unless you already have an AP or some other ticket to gain entry. So there will be even fewer FP rides to choose from.

I just found out my daughter's science camp is the same week as our Halloween party trip (for which we have already bought tickets)! I know tickets are not refundable, but do you think I would be able to switch to a different day?
