Ontario March Break 2020

@Frozen2014 - Very true about flying out on Mon. A few years ago, we flew in on Wed, cruised, then took the Mon (following week) flight home. But, that meant hotel for Wed, Thurs, Fri before cruise and Sat and Sun after cruise. It also meant food, a rental car and entertainment (Kennedy and a day at MK). So while we enjoyed it all thoroughly, in hindsight, it would have been cheaper to pay the higher airfare than to cruise and end up with a land vacation, as well. And while we loved the Contemporary for one night (my one and only chance at an on-site stay), it was expensive!

Yeah...great way to extend your vacation and add in some Disney but if hotel, food, entertainment ends up being the same as your airline savings or more, then it doesn't help with the budget.

Non-Disney cruise but it's out of Port Canaveral. But we'd definitely look at other airports in the area.

Breeze, Harmony or Breakaway? Or a shorter cruise?

Sanford Airport is another option, depending where you are flying from. It isn't much further from Port Cananveral than Orlando but has some smaller airlines that fly there so perhaps a good deal. I believe there are still some shuttles that go to/from there as well.

Harmony :-)

Thanks. I don't see any flights from Toronto to Sanford Airport, but there is MLB with a stop.

Oh nice! I am hoping to go on Harmony in 2021. I have two cruises already booked for 2020 so I think that should be enough. At least until I win the lottery :)

Oh yeah, MLB is around there too. Toronto has so many more flights than Ottawa, unless I want to drive to Syracuse or Ogdensburg. But we are cruising from FLL March break 2020, flights just came out and are already nuts. We may end up going to Montreal, their break is a different week so it helps our flight prices, but then we have to get to Montreal (I don't like driving that far in questionable weather).

Lol...I know, cruises are addicting. We have a few ourselves.
March break shifted a week this year so wonder if that has an effect on the pricing. When is Montreal's? Good point that driving in March can be iffy as we don't know the weather. Could end up with a bad snow .

It was March 4 - 8 this year, so normally the week before Ontario.

Considering we had a touch of freezing rain and ice pellets yesterday, I have no idea how to predict weather any more and when would be safe to drive any distance!

Oh, maybe that's why it's cheaper to take a 1-stop flight Toronto-MCO via Montreal than it is to fly non-stop.

Ontario shifted a week in 2020 to Mar 16-20

And i hear you about the crazy unpredictable weather.

Montreal’s Spring break is always the first week of March so before ON week.

Hi, I booked this AM. Tues March 17 to Tues March 24, direct flights from Toronto to MCO. Good flight times, using a WJ companion voucher price was 860.00 for the two of us. More then I paid last year but in my budget range.

Thanks for the heads up.
I booked March break 2020 and this year was able to use my WJD (Westjet dollars) to offset the cost.
YYZ-direct non stop to MCO return including advance seat purchase.
This year I did the outgoing flight when it opened using Westjet member exclusive fare.
And the return I just used the regular flights available.
So about $210.00 out of pocket.:dogdance:
My January trip I also used the Westjet companion voucher and got a good deal using my Westjet dollars,,only paid taxes and fees..
Applying all those home renovations to my Westjet card really helped.

Hugs
Mel

Hi! I booked a room-only reservation for AoA for March Break 2020 because my eldest is in high school and hares to miss much school. Typically we are people who look for slow times to get lower airfare and hotel and to avoid crowds. Will we hate being in WDW during Ontario March Break? Will I not be able to find the US$200 per person RT airfares I can find for this fall flying nonstop from Buffalo to MCO on Southwest or JetBlue? We're a party of six, so even going from $200 to $300 per ticket adds up pretty quickly
TIA for any insights and experiences!

I wouldn't count on great air rates, but get in on the morning the flights are announced and you might get lucky.

I know it's more days, but have you thought about driving? We rent a van and drive down. Without the rental, two days (two rooms at each hotel) there and one day home (you could do it faster, my DH doesn't like to drive for too long), food and gas is under $1500. We got a mini van from the airport for $450, but not sure what next year will bring.

@TigerlilyAJ we don't find Ontario break TOO bad for Disney if we plan well. It is usually Florida break the same week, so it is busy, but nothing like a holiday weekend. Use a good strategy like Unofficial Guide, avoid EMH parks, start early, and hit the quietest park each day. We always seem to ride all the rides we want to ride, and see the attractions.

Cheap airfares is a bit of a dream at that time of year; yes book early if you can find them. All North American airlines use demand pricing strategies, so the prices will start to rise as soon as dates are released. Even the US border airports rise quickly because of Canadian demand.

Like @FigmentSpark we just drive - started that about 5 or 6 years ago. It just becomes a part of the adventure after a while and is a lot less $$. DW is a teacher so I am packed and waiting at the door of the school when the final bell rings. We travel as far as we safely can that first evening and then overnight with an early start the next morning - we tag team shifts of 2-3 hours at the wheel. Arrival at our resort in Orlando is generally about midnight Saturday; about 10 hours later than if we had flown out Saturday morning.
