What's $2100 to you? Poly vs Pop

Poly, without question if it fits the budget. Much nicer transportation options, so many more dining options. So much more to see and do. Pop is a motel with a food court and pool, Poly is a full-blown resort with all the amenities.

Transportation is a big reason to stay at Pop actually. A dedicated bus system makes a huge difference. Worst transportation I’ve ever experienced was at the Contemporary.

Agreed POP without a doubt has the best transportation options for sure. It’s just a great Disney vacation resort. And to save 2100. No brainer there

It depends on how much time you want to spend at the resort and also which park you plan on spending the most time in as well as your budget and since you originally had the Poly booked I'm sure you have it in your budget to stay there. If you plan on spending a good chunk of your time at the resort swimming in the pool or other activities and spending a lot of time at the MK then I would choose the Poly. The Poly is my favorite resort and the atmosphere cannot be beat. There is nothing wrong with Pop and it's my favorite of the value resorts. The new refurbished rooms are nice and the food court is good. Bus system is a hit or miss too. I know when we were leaving the MK it took forever to get on the bus and the lines to get on the bus were ridiculously long. Other parks didn't have too much of a problem but MK was a pain with buses.

$2100 is a lot of money for us. DH and I are going for 10 days/9 nights, 9 day hoppers, free QSDP, staying at POP for $2500 total. We have stayed at POP once and really enjoyed it a lot. We have only stayed at POP, All Star Sports, and POR. We liked them all, but I preferred POP and sports as their transportation was better and we didn't have to walk nearly as far to the food court/busses/pool. I guess I'm just a value girl. LOL. But that's just us. If you're going to spend a lot of time in your room or at the resort and money's no big deal for you, do Poly.

Are you a Resort family or a Park family? Our family hangs around the resort alot so its worth the extra for us to stay in a deluxe. Not to mention how absolutely magical Poly feels. But if your touring style is RD to close at the Parks then save the cash.
We are resort people too. We hit the parks early (MK 4 out of 7 days), and are back at our resort for lunch. We enjoy the pool and go out to a nice restaurant for dinner. We watch fireworks from our restaurant, resort, or fireworks cruise. We never go back to the parks at night anymore. We just don’t like the crowds.

I think a lot depends on how you vacation at Disney - Do you spend a lot of time at the resort or are you at the parks most of the day? If at the parks most of the day, I’d go with POP. If you spend time at the resort, I’d go with Poly.

Our vacation style has changed and the resorts are a big part of our trips now. We stay more days, plan more resort days and always take mid-day breaks. For us, we’d stay at the Poly because we love all the amenities and spend enough time there to justify the price difference.

That’s our usual cost around 2500. Give or take. Just unbeatable value.

I would be really miserable with that many people in a Pop room, and would not enjoy that at all. While $2100 is definitely a lot of money, for me, it would be the difference between having a really nice enjoyable vacation or being in a hotel I could not wait to leave. We've stayed at Pop before and will only go back if it is one night like maybe on our arrival day and then switching to a better hotel.

We are definitely a resort family. We always go back to the resort around noon and head back to the parks around 4. I've been to Disney World in August and being from Minnesota, we "Minnesotans" tend to wilt in the humidity if we are out in it too long, especially at midday with the Florida sun beating down on us. We also tend to have at least 1 night where we just hang out at the resort and usually have 1 morning where we just go swimming and shop at the local shops.

They are pretty small.

I love watching the fireworks from the beach at Poly. I stayed with my boyfriend at the Poly about 4 years ago and that was one of my favorite things to do was sit with a Poly punch and crackers and cheese on the bench swings on the beach and enjoy the fireworks; so romantic! I haven't been able to do that with the kids in so long.

The kids and I have always enjoyed the resort as much as the parks.

I do have it budgeted but I'm just having buyers remorse.

Do you already have flights booked? I think I would rather shave off s day or two from the vacation than give up Poly for Pop. My youngest daughter and I stayed there long ago pre renovation and I did not like either size or lack of soundproofing in the room. It was just my daughter and myself when she was about 8 or 10 years old. She liked it though! Whatever you choose, it’s a great vacation for you to make happen for your family.

This is just my opinion so take it for what it is worth. If money was tight and l could only swing the Poly because of a windfall, I would stay at Pop or even a moderate. Mostly because I would beat myself up after the trip when an unexpected bill arrives and that $2100 would have made things easier. That is a lot of money when things are tight. I have a friend who is going through that now. She stayed at a deluxe and regrets it. She loved it at the time but realizes she could have had a great time no matter where she stayed and worse, she really couldn't afford it in the first place.

I have had fantastic vacations at the values and moderates. I did prefer the moderate resorts because I found it more relaxed but I would stay in a value in a heartbeat.

Taking my 19 year old daughter and my 2 boys (14 and 16) on Disney trip from August 13-20th. I currently have the Polynesian standard view booked but I could book Pop Century preferred view instead. It's $2100 difference. I love Poly but Pop is fun. Obviously 2 different vacations; what do u think?

With your kids ages, I would go with POP. Easy to hop on and off a bus, no stroller, etc. That's a big savings and POP seems pretty nice!

The one thing that may pose a problem I guess, is the lack of a daybed at Pop. My boys would have to share the Murphy bed but for the money I think they could get over it.
When you are putting out any kind of money, the truth is you want your money's worth so if we are at Pop, i don't want to be saying, I wish we were at the Poly.
Then again, if we are at the Poly, I don't want to be saying this isn't worth $2100 more.

Hmm,now that you mention the bed thing, I would think at that age they may want their own beds? Which would make POLY take the lead.

I think what is good for one, is not good for another. I just hope you guys are really organized. Its gonna get cramped up in there! lol
