Does RCL have a program on board for you to book a future RCL cruise at a discount? If so, any idea how large of a discount?

Thanks!

Yes, there's an area called "NextCruise" that you can visit and book while onboard to book a future cruise. Honestly, the discount isn't any different than what you see online most of the time (50% off 2nd guest, etc.). The main incentive, which isn't really much of an incentive to me, is that the initial deposit amount is reduced. There may be a little extra onboard credit, but it isn't significant.

When you book Next Cruise while onboard, it's the same price but they will give you some OBC (that you keep even if you re-price the cruise). The cruise price itself is the same if you booked from home. It's also supposed to be less deposit when booking onboard (Ironically when we booked Mariner while on board Independence, we ended up giving even more deposit....the Royal person working at Next Cruise obviously didn't know and we didn't think to question it at the time).

We booked on board last year for this year's cruise and got $100 OBC and a lower deposit.

I am by no means an expert on this, but our first and only experience with OBB and discounts was last month. We paid the same amount of deposit (but that was due to the category selected, so I was expecting it) and received $300 in on-board credit. When I priced out the same cruise three days later at home, the difference was well over $1000 (i.e., the on-board price was lower). I’m not sure if that’s because we booked the second-last available room in that specific category, thus leaving only one room and causing that price to jump as a result. I was very pleased with the price differential in our favour, but I’m not sure if this is normal.

They also told me that you can call and reprice your cruise only once and still keep the on-board credit.

Sounds pretty good!

On our last RC sailing (Allure last month) we booked 3 new cruises while on board. There is a small OBC when you book on board. Pricing is otherwise pretty much the same as on the web site.
