Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE RESORTS Information & Questions

Not sure if it's been mentioned in earlier posts. If not, an update on fees. Resort fee is now $30 per day. Self parking is $25 per day, valet $35. All those fees are plus tax. Child care at Camp Dolphin is $12 per hour. I've updated the OP.

Thanks Dan! So that's $30 resort fee up from $28 and $25 parking up from $20 - that seems high for the parking as far as rate increase. Camp Dolphin from $10 to $12 seems reasonable, considering that Disney has pretty much dropped all Resort based Child Care, though I think they moved the one from Contemporary to Beach Club and its not Pirate themed for $55 for 3.5 hours, which makes the Camp Dolphin a pretty good rate, though maybe not the experience.

Thanks Dan, that seems a lot more reasonable. Sadly I don't see that parking or resort fee ever going away.

Parking fee will never go away, Steve. Resort fee would 'go away' only if the government would force hotels to include those fees in their advertised or stated rates and not have them as an addon, a surprise I'm sure for many guests.

We used them also for past two trips to the Swan. Excellent service!

Me three. We used the service based on your recommendation. It was amazing how close our driver was able to park to baggage claim. I couldn’t believe how quickly he whisked us out of that airport and on our way!

Oh great!!! Glad you had a good experience also. And yes, it's almost like they are parked right at the baggage carousels.

This is not unusual. Your best option is to call Swan/Dolphin in-house reservations and ask them to resend your reservation info to Disney. That usually resolves the issue within one or two days.

@Chisoxcollector sadly this has been an ongoing issue. But the advice from shoreward does seem to help out consistently.

My phone call was indeed successful. 2 days after calling I successfully linked the stay.

Thanks!

It just dawned on me that we have literally never had a problem free stay at the Swan or Dolphin. We’ve stayed at these properties at least 10-12 times, and have yet to have a “perfect” experience. The pros outweigh the cons, so we keep returning. But it’d be nice not to have to call the front desk or Marriott customer service on at least one stay!

On our most recent stay the AC couldn’t be turned down. It could be turned up, but not down. After several attempts to get it to work, our room was set to 77°, whereas we usually set it to 65°. So the room got very warm pretty quickly. We called the front desk and they said somebody would be up to fix it within 15 minutes. 45 minutes later I had to call again, and finally, after well over an hour since the first call, somebody came and fixed it.

On previous stays we have had issues with housekeeping, parking, being double charged, being charged for the room even though I used points, being blatantly lied to by front desk staff, AC not working at all, WiFi not working at all, etc.

Here’s hoping our June stay breaks the Swan and Dolphin curse for us!

Question:

The last boat to swan/dolphin from HS leaves at 10pm when HS closes at 9, correct?

Well, on those nights Fantasmic is at 9, Wonderful world of animation is at 9:05 and star wars is at 9:30, which gets out at 9:45.

Thateans you are lucky to get to the boats by 10, if doing the star wars show.

How do you get back to the hotel if you are slow and it takes you more then 15 minutes to get from the theatre where star wars is projected to the entrance?

We are dodge between people on way out while moving fast, and we didn't make it till 9:55, I'm sure a large portion miss 10pm.

That's great, Chisoxcollector.

Walk or call Uber/Lyft.

I made the mistake once (only once) in Epcot. The park closes at 9, Illuminations is over about 9:15 or so. In my mind, I was thinking one hour after Illuminations for the last boast back to the Swan. I was over by Mexico, about as far as you can get in WS from the IG boat dock. I took a leisurely walk, hot/humid night and very exhausted from a long day, listening to the Tapestry music playing, taking pictures of everything on the way out. I got to the IG boat dock about 10:04. I said to one of the CM's at the dock, 'well, guess the last boat will be here soon.' He replied, 'no, that is the last boat there, going under the bridge'. One hour after park closing. I was stunned. So I had a long, lonely walk back to the Swan, exhausted. I knew the BW way was shorter than the Y&BC way, but went the Y&BC way in case I passed out, there would probably be more people to see me. The BW way has that stretch which is kind of isolated before you get to the actual BW area. I never made the mistake again. :faint:

The boats stop running 1 hr after park close, but buses continue to run until guests are cleared, even for guests at the resorts normally served by the boats. It's tricky at Epcot with the IG entrance; if your timing has you potentially missing that last boat, you need to exit at the front of the park to get to the buses.

Amen. Unlikely to ever happen, but the whole resort fee thing only got big when online aggregators like Expedia became big. I'm surprised they don't advertise $100 per night with a $150 daily resort fee. That will be coming soon to the Disney resorts, I have no doubt. Heck, I always thought the Dolphin and Swan were great bargains at WDW - once Disney started charging resort parking, they became even bigger values.

I am doing a split stay in September, moving from Port Orleans FQ to The Dolphin. Does anyone know if I can send my luggage through bell services there? I read that it could be done to the Swan, but that info was from at least a few years ago.
