Let’s play what’s wrong with me..physically- small update, pg.3

I don’t have a date yet. If I get this job, and I should know by the weekend, I’ll head to the urgent care that’s closest..a 30 minute drive but better than a different city. I don’t want to start the job *potentially* and then need days off to deal with it.

Truthfully, I am avoiding it a bit because of what I just went though over the winter (you can search for it if you want) and I don’t want to have to deal with something else major. 2017 was my year of surgeries and healing and then 2018 was the year a LOT of things happened. Now 2019 could be crap too.

I know that a possible bad diagnosis is better than an oh no., this went untreated and now it’s terminal.

I hate not being in control.

By "being in control" do you mean in control of when you go to the doctor and deal with it, or in control of the actual issue? Because right now you are not dealing with it, per se, and I'm hoping it's not getting worse the more you procrastinate?

The actual issue.

It’s not getting any worse. It’s just not getting any better. If it started hurting or if I developed a fever or something I’d be running to a doctor.

Yet you wrote this yesterday.

Nooooooooo....except for the past 3 or 4 days at some times it does hurt. Not like a stabbing pain, but a little bit of radiating pain. Not constant, maybe 10 minutes and then it’s gone and I’m fine. I still have no fever or chills or bathroom issues. I’m actually glad tomorrow is finally the day I can start to get this figured out. Don’t worry, I’ll report back tomorrow evening with an update.

You're not doing yourself a favour by putting off seeing a doctor.

I wouldn’t call it hard, like it’s not like a rock at all. It’s also not so squishy that I can push down on it and feel the other side. It’s firmer today than it usually is. If it gets ‘worse’ over the weekend I’ll probably head over to the Er and see what’s going on.

@Kitty 34 my appointment isn’t until May 8, so, two weeks away. I’ve never been one to ignore health issues, and I’m keeping an eye, or a hand on it.

Kim, hopefully you at least rescheduled your appointment. Glad for you about the job interview, just wish there could have been a way to work both appointments in yesterday.

Time for some tough love. You seem to be looking for excuses not to get this checked out. While it is most likely something benign, the truth is you are a higher cancer risk because you’ve had it before. The longer you wait, the more time this thing has to get worse. Given how your healthcare system works, you need to get the process started now. Procrastinating won’t keep you from having a big medical event. In fact, in increases your chances.

I'm shocked that someone who previously had cancer before, is so blase about their health. Good luck with your "head in the sand" approach......

With all my health issues, I don’t live my life with my head in the sand. I’m just completely overwhelmed with the idea of another crappy health year.

I agree with the posters above. No more excuses. Go get it checked ASAP. Yes a job is important, but your health is more important.

I appreciate your perspectives. Honestly, I don’t think of my cancer as a big huge deal and definitely wouldn’t tout myself as a survivor. I had some cancer cells, I had surgery and then it was gone. I don’t think it’s fair to compare myself with people who have really been in the trenches to fight.

You have given me a new way to think of this. I’ll be taking myself down to the urgent care clinic early Saturday morning to get everyone off my back (totally just kidding).

Thanks for convincing me that I should take it seriously.

You really should go. From your first post it’s been 17 days. You mentioned it was painful in one post.

I understand the whole “ another bad health year” way of thinking but you need to get it checked sooner rather than later. We have been dealing with my bow 10 year old’s liver and blood disease for the past three years and I know that when it’s time for blood work (which is every 3 months) I’d rather it not get checked because I don’t want another season of bad health. But I have to do it to make sure we are on top of everything. I work in a hospital and hear too many times that people waited and waited and if they just came in earlier the end result would’ve been much different.
Get it checked soon! Each minute that passes is another minute of God knows what going on.

I will just add that there is almost nothing I like less than going to the doctor/hospital/lab, but I almost always feel so much better afterwards, knowing that did what I needed to do to take care of myself and also usually my worst fears are unsubstantiated. And even when the news is not what I’d hoped at least I know and can deal with it.

Go! You’ll feel so much better afterwards.

Thank you!! You better go on Saturday!! But why not today??? Just kidding.

My husband has a bunch of appointments today, so I have to be around to organize. Plus, I’m going to try and get my parents to drive me, that way I can’t put it off again because they’ll be on their way or sitting out front. That, and it’s cheaper than a cab lol

Good luck, Kim. If the place is busy or not you're there and you can get things going health wise.

I’m glad you are there and will get checked

Play on the dis while you have the 3 hour wait

Do pray all goes fine for you and questions will be solved answers
