Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

We have a 745am ADR at Chef Mickey's the day we go to MK for the first half of the day. (Then we're going back to the resort midday.)

How frequently are the buses at that time? We'd have to take a bus to MK, and then the Monorail to CR. Thinking that means that we'd have to be on a bus to leave the resort at 7am or so. With a toddler in tow at that time, I'm thinking that won't be easy.

We will have a vehicle. We could drive over there, but I don't think that we can leave the car there in CR while we are in MK for the morning. Correct? We'd have to drive it back and then take the bus to MK.

Or, we could Lyft a "Minnie Van" to CR. There will be 5 of us. Do they have car seats? How much do they charge?

Thoughts? Has anyone else done an ADR like this with a small child?

If you do t think you can make it with at toddler using Disney transportation then get the Minnie van. Yes they have car seats. And if you can’t make that then drive and then one of you move car to TTC after you eat

You would definitely need to be on a bus around 7:00am but it would be easier to walk over to CR then walk over to the Monorail . The PP suggestion of driving to CR for the meal then park at TTC is a good one. Of course you should be able to pay for valet at CR and not worry about moving the car.

The buses start running at 6:30am, so you would have time to get there, but you would have to allow that time to get there, which could be stressful with little ones. But the Minnie Van is a great option. We used it so many times last trip when we stayed at POR, since the buses there were horrendous. We were 7 adults and a toddler and we split up in 2 cars. We had a few early breakfast ADR's. They have car seats. It is just so much easier taking a Minnie Van than getting a bus and then taking the monorail or walking from MK. From POFQ, it would probably cost around $20-25. When you book your ride on the Lyft app, the price comes up and you pay then and there on the app. We find it worth it as it saves time and you won't have to worry about the 6:30am buses and getting there on time. It was so much less stressful for us.

The Minnie Vans are $15 plus $2.75 per mile plus tip. We took the bus from POFQ to MK and then walked to CR for Chef Mickey's. It was a quick and painless process. Keep in mind you'll have to go through security at MK before heading to CR.

Like others have said you can take a Lyft to CR (recommend a regular Lyft or even Mears taxi over the Minnie Van, it will be less $), or bus to MK and about a 5-10 minute walk to CR from there. I wouldn’t do the monorail to CR for your ADR, but instead take it around the loop after your ADR when going to MK.

Busses run early enough so you should be fine, there are lots of folks with PPO ADRs at MK. Lyft/Mears taxi will shave off some time if you don’t want to catch a bus that early.

If I had a dinning reservation at 8 pm at Disney springs, what’s time do you think it would be smart to be waiting for a boat to get there at French quarter?

We usually give ourselves 90 minutes to 2 hours in case we have to wait for a 2nd boat. If we get there early we usually do some window shopping or stop for a pre-meal beverage.

Same, especially in the evenings when more people are taking the boat to DS. You might have a line.

Hello - new to this board! Forgive me if I am overthinking or planning too far in advance, but I seem to be in good company here with those traits.

What are your thoughts on booking an upgraded view room (ie. garden/water) not for the view itself but for the chance or a better location? I actually don't care about the view at all, but it seems that most of the standard-view rooms are on the fringes. Or is FQ small enough that it doesn't really matter?

For some context I am doing some early planning for a Jan/Feb 2021 trip. Family of four, with two kids who will be 5 and 3 at the time. Ideally I'd want a room close to food/transportation, but still reasonably quiet. Thanks!

FQ is pretty small, but you are right that the Standard View rooms are all around the perimeter of the resort, facing the parking lots (although some in building 4 are really close to the main building and bus stop. The room type that would give you the most central rooms though would be Pool View, which would be inward facing in buildings 2 or 5 (mostly upper floors).

I just stayed there in building 6 and paid for a (river view) room and we were on the "close" end of that building (by the elevators).
It was quiet ... sooooo quiet. But, after being there the WHOLE resort was just quiet. And for walking to transportation and the food? Even if you are in building 7 it is NOT a long walk. I liked how this resort was so much smaller than others we've stayed at before (Pop, All-Star Movies) etc. Because of how small the whole resort is, the dining hall is a lot smaller (and thus not as loud and chaotic).
I don't think it matters, but the river view room is nice.

Great, thanks, sounds like I have lots of options for quiet but close to food/transport.

One more vote for Minnie Van. It’s fast, fun, and cool. I’d take that to CR, walk to MK afterward, and then do a Disney bus when you’re ready to return to your room.

As Andre posted Pool view are the most central locations but Garden & River are good too. We have gotten River on most of our trips just because we like walking out of the room to that view. The best advice I can give no matter what category you book is to take advantage of the shortcuts through buildings & courtyards rather than staying on the main paths. The few minutes reviewing the resort map can save steps & a little time.

Great tip! With little ones every step counts.

Coffee is available as long as the food court is open. If you have refillable mugs, you can usually get hot drinks out of hours too, along with cold from the Freestyle machines.

Andre

Wait. Are we talking the Coke Freestyle machines with 100 flavors?! Another question...are the dinner entrees a QS credit on the DDP?

Researching for first stay at POFQ!

Yes at POFQ they do have the Coke Freestyle machines. And the food court is a QS credit on the DDP. Sadly POFQ no longer has a Table service restaurant. POR does not have the Coke Freestyle machines .

I believe I've seen that the resorts have switched over to shampoo/conditioner/soap dispensers in the shower. Can anyone confirm that the shampoo and conditioner are separate and not a shampoo/conditioner combined?? My daughter has very thick hair, so we need that separate conditioner!!

Yup, it's separate shampoo and conditioner.
