*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

We bought our tickets for MNSSHP on 8/20 and a little nervous as it's only the 2nd party. I'll be watching for posts from the first party for sure to put our plan together. Also I still have 3 of 6 costumes to finish. We are going as Disney Villans and making Diy costumes themed around shorts, tees and tutus with a few purchased accessories.

We went to the second party last year. You’ll have a pretty good idea where all the characters are located if you follow the Halloween thread.

Your costumes sound fun!

Thanks that's what I'm hoping. We will mostly do party stuff as we have 2 other days in Magic Kingdom. Jack & Sally and Elvis stitch are on our list of characters so far.

Oh my gosh, every day I am online messing with something as well as listening to podcasts, reading reviews and watching youtube vids. Glad I am not alone lol!
This is the 1st WDW trip I have planned on my own (my mom always planned them all before she passed) and I am becoming slightly obsessed with making it "perfect" o_O This is my 1 shot to convince my hubs the wdw will be great for him as well (he loves Disney service, just not the theme parks, so we usually end up using our DVC at places like Aulani or cruises, etc.) and I am crossing all of my fingers and toes that the restaurant's all come through and nothing crazy occurs while we are there!

My best piece of advice: Don't concern yourself too much with planning the perfect first visit. It will not be perfect. Things will go wrong. Your plans won't work out the way you expect them to, and if you have invested yourself too much into the idea of having the perfect plan, it is way too easy to let it ruin your trip when things start to go wrong.

Instead, let your plan be a loose framework around which you build your trip. Your plan gives you an idea of what you would like to do, and when you would like to do it, and it leaves options open for what you might skip if you are running short on time, or what you might add in if you find you have extra time. The important idea here is, accept that the plan will never work the exact way you are planning for it to work, so go into the trip expecting that the plans will change along the way. Flexibility will allow you to roll with things as they happen, and will give you the ability to enjoy your trip no matter how things turn out.

Thanks for posting this. We are also at 99 days today and I didn't even realize it.

Double digits, an exciting milestone indeed!

Jack and Sally will take a long time to meet. Be in line early, and expect to invest a fair bit of time into meeting them. My DD23 did the Jack and Sally meet last year, and I believe her words when it was over were something along the lines of never again.

We waited a long time 4 years ago for the 7 dwarfs and I said the same thing. I am wondering how late J & S will meet and if the 3 that want to meet them could do so while the other 3 are waiting for the 2nd parade. Last time we watched the parade near the front.

From what I have read, the best strategy is to get in line for them as soon as you are allowed into the park with the Halloween Party ticket. That is what our DD did, but there was rain, quite a bit of it, so the M&G was stop and go with the rain for quite a while, making the wait worse. She was in line for several hours, and legitimately missed a good portion of the party in order to do that M&G.

Wow. Thanks for the information. We have an extra day so we can go on early but I sure don't want to stand in line for 3-4 hours. We waited almost 2 hours for the 7 dwarfs.

I suspect that as long as the weather is dry, the line won't be as long as it was for her, but just keep that possibility in mind.

Is there an ADR cancellation thread for August? I tried searching and couldn’t find one but not sure if I searched wrong.

Yes, you can find it by going to the main forums page, then Disney restaurants, then Disney dining reservations.

The Harmony Barber Shop at the Magic Kingdom is now accepting reservations online. Visit their web page HERE and click Check Availability to make your reservations.

Note: If you are making a reservation for more than 2 people, while the web interface will allow you to select 3, or 4 people, it will then tell you there is no availability. Apparently, it breaks the day up into 20 minute blocks, and only allows 2 reservations per block. As a result, it never finds any availability for groups bigger than 2, so you will need to make individual reservations in groups of 2 in order to cover your party.

Thank you very much! I went and reserved 1:40pm for my kids. I figure my husband and I can alternate holding a spot for the parade while the kids get a haircut in the air-conditioning!

Yeah we made our appointment a few months ago on the phone but now it actually shows on MDE in my plans, pretty cool.

People have to remember too there are only 3 chairs - so anything more than that would have to be scheduled at different times too.

This makes it so much easier to change my son's appt. Had it set then found a BOG lunch for the same time so off to change things around! He just turned 9 but fights me getting his hair cut anywhere but here. I took him the other day here at home and you would think I was submitting him to torture. Back to school hair cut will be August here :)
