Game of Thrones - Season 8 - NO SPOILERS PLEASE

IMO it's one thing to speculate about things that could happen, how things seem to us, what we hope will happen or not because none of us have any actual information about the production. Pulling things from outside sources that we don't know may have inside information that hasn't been on screen yet is kind of spoiler-ish.

Sorry if it crosses the spoiler line but there has been discussion here about whether Jamie and Cerci were actually killed in the collapsing castle and someone else pointed out that in an interview with the writers that they had confirmed that they were dead. This is merely a counterpoint to that that suggesting one of them may not be. I don't seem to remember if the person pointing the writer interview out was called out for spoilers. I can delete the message if it is a spoiler

IMO, it's speculation because you didn't get this information from a spoiler site. I agree with you that this is just a counterpoint.

Loved it!

As for the spoilers, I don’t think anything that has already aired is a spoiler. If you haven’t watched the episode yet, don’t read here if you don’t want to know what happened. To me, a spoiler is something you’ve read/heard/seen that hasn’t been aired yet.

Considering you agreed with the above quote on page one, I'm confused. I'm also confused with the comment that this didn't come from a spoiler site, how do you know that?

Do you think there will be any place to watch the finale in Disney? I thought maybe a bar somewhere onsite would have a watch party...clearly it isn't "Disney" material but at least in a bar there shouldn't be any younglings.

No, I don't think that should be considered a spoiler. It sounds like a speculation based on past history that really anyone could put together if they were aware of the practice.

That’s what I thought but I read an interview with the writers this morning which said they are dead. Can’t look for the link now, I’m at work.

This post was not considered a spoiler and really all I was saying is there was something else out there that merely was a counterpoint to this. I am not sure what a spoiler is in that regard. Comparing one speculative article to another speculative article is all I was doing.

I can honestly say having watched many shows over the years that the spoilers for GOT have been very few and far between compared to others. Followed the whole "Lost" arc over many years and the spoilers for that thing were dead on. There was information down to the smallest detail available for every future episode. There is nothing even close for GOT.

I too need a place in Tampa. I found a pub with a watch party but I think it's booked up and will be packed. Our hotel, I called to see if rooms have HBO and was told they have no idea (The Westin in Tampa).

As far as the Jaime thing above. I think he's dead. And I was watching various clips online (just a stream that kept going) and did see some interview where they all were asked if they were satisfied with how their characters ended on the show and he said he was VERY satisfied (actually used another word...and made it some corny pun but I can't remember what).

Here are a couple things the actors said in recent interviews that made me pause...

1) Lena (Cersei) was talking (before season 8 began to air) about this last season. There was some mention to when each actors last day on set was and the interviewer (can't recall who) asked something about how many days she worked on set before her last....was it brief or long...or some such to determine if Cersei died and when. She said she got pretty far and interviewer was shocked and she then said 'I am like the 12th out...that doesn't really spoil anything'. Which was odd because it kind of was spoiling. I mean, she could have been the last one standing. Glad I didn't see that before this season aired. I need to take the time to count it up and see if she was 12th out this season.

2) I will put this one in spoiler quote as this character is still alive but spilled something about his demise in interview
It was Davos actor and he said, about his last day of work and holding back his tears, that it was hard because he is one of 3 that go at the same time. I, sadly, will guess Tyrion is one of the others. Maybe Jon and maybe Grey Worm. And maybe Dany.

Well I wasn't aware of that practice. It's not part of the show. It's not part of what is put onscreen. Now I know, so if that is in play it's effectively spoiled to me. Speculation based on how one feels a character behaved/might behave, what we think we see in the way something was filmed or the way a shot is framed is pure speculation. To directly drag in offscreen information is a spoiler.

If something was aired, it's no longer a spoiler. If you are speculating, it's not a spoiler, it's your opinion.

I have no issue with discussing opinions. I don't want someone to start talking about what they read as a spoiler from somewhere. I don't want to know what's leaking to the media, but I'd love to know everyone else's theories and thoughts.

Interesting opinion.

I have no idea if this is, in fact, actual practice, and even if it is, there is no guarantee that it holds true for every character, every time. So, it's still speculation. And if you disagree with what seems, based on the posts since the one in question, to be okay with most other posters here, then perhaps your definition of a "spoiler" and others' doesn't match, and maybe this thread doesn't suit your needs.

On another note, I'll have to avoid this thread entirely after Sunday's finale, because I'm going to wait to watch the last episode with my son when he gets home from college and catches up on the episodes he's missed this season. Which would be all of them. Sigh. I may have to walk through the halls at work with noise-cancelling headphones on for a few days, too, lol.

Will you have a laptop or tablet with you? You can do a free trial to HBO Now to watch this weekend and cancel the subscription after unless you already have it. You can also download HBO Go if you are already have HBO and watch through the app. If you bring an HDMI cable with you it can connect to the TV.

So what's everyone's thoughts regarding the petition that the news outlets have been reporting on the last few days? DH and I were discussing it on our way into work yesterday and today. He's a huge fan of the series, read the books, and has been disappointed with the way that this season has played out. Too many mistakes, some scenes feeling rushed, and others not long enough. It was like the producers where ready to wrap up before filming even began.

I find it funny, no offense to anyone- but really. move on

Agreed. I'd be surprised if it actually went anywhere.

Yes I have found this season to be disappointing on multiple occasions, but I'd be even more disappointed if they threw us a Dallas/Bob Newhart ending of everything was just a dream.

Yeah....I am a book reader and big fan of the genre in general. My 2 fave series are GOT and LOTR. I feel the season was rushed and sloppy. I feel the writers just wanted to get it done and move on. BUT...I am still enjoying it. There are some great things this season (acting and cinematography). I am ready to know the ending. I think they will stick to GRR's main premise. So, I too have to roll my eyes at the petition talk. First world problems...you know.

So I have been watching a lot of videos with the actors. What's everyone's thoughts on the various actors in real life? I love Emilia Clark. She is very quirky and adorable. Brienne is odd. I love the Sansa and Arya friendship. The Hound's real accent is sooooo different and I love it. I love all the accents and could listen to them all day (which I have been doing...LOL). Kit is very serious much like Jon. Dinklage has been most tight lipped about the final stuff. I wonder which ones were most liked and which were annoying to the other cast? I'd love to get all those details.

Hate watching can still be fun. :D If the books are ever finished I'd totally like to see a new faithful series adaption.

Was reading about some of the backlash today, a lot of fans objecting to Dany's character assassination. They might have pulled it off if the actress playing her was a bit more ice queenish. Emilia is adorable, and it comes through in her portrayal. A lot of people have loved Daenerys for years.

I think they pulled that part off. I think Emilia did a great job in her portrayal. She’s beautiful, but I’ve always seen her as ice queenish. I was routing for her from the beginning and now she has turned into the villain. I love that.
