So what about the days following opening day? We get to Disney 8/31, I'm planning 2 DHS days, 1 just for SWGE. Wed 9/4-I'm setting this entire day for SWGE. I know I'll have to wait to see how they are handling the lines, but I'm wondering how early I should be planning to be there. Assuming they will do EMH like they did for TSL, should we be there at 5? 6? Guess we just don't know.
yep, we just don't know, but plan for very, very early

I'd plan to be there really early but keep things fluid
You have a big advantage of several days of operations to watch so you should have a decent idea of what you'll need to do by the 4th

I’ve been asking security about their plans and how they’re going to handle people camping out and if they’re even going to allow it. They do not have a plan in place as of now. I’ve been telling them they better get a plan soon. I’m thinking midnight line up but I won’t be surprised to see someone in line at 5pm the day before!

-What’s the internal temperature of a Taun Taun?

-Luke warm!

I think they are waiting to see how DL goes, especially after the reservation period. I, for one, am a little bummed that I won't be going to WDW early on, first day, or camping, but school is in session:( I don't what DL will be like, but I will hopefully get to see it late August. A year and a half with no WDW is going to kill me. We just went in March and won't be back until July 2020.

And if you think you might see someone at 5 pm the day before, that person is thinking, I bet someone will be there at noon. And so it goes....

I cannot wait to tell this one to the kids. They're going to die. LOL

..I suppose the line will just back up to 192 and beyond. (for WDW) People camping out along the road into the parks too.

well not sure if this has been posted anywhere in all of our threads but:
DL will allow overnight lineups before the May 31 grand opening and the June 24 post-reservation date. The overnight lineups will be handled similarly to the queues that were formed for DL’s 50th and 60th anniv. celebrations.

I’m confused as to why you would need to camp out on May 31st. I can see June 24th but I wouldn’t camp out May 31st.

If you're at the front if the pack you'll get more done.
Maybe but I’d say that depends on how many people are in each slot and how much Disney allows you to do. Like will they allow guests to just ride Falcon over and over or will they only be allowed to once? Those details we don’t have yet.

Plus I would think people will want to be in the front of their group and be at the front of the line that gets into the land and see it with as few a people in front of them when they come in

Plus there is that bond experience and just group mentality with a lot of these types of things (especially "con" related and especially Star Wars related) that waiting in a group is almost part of the experience - so I bet Disney figured people would look to do it anyway, so might as well get head of things and have a structure in place

So Disney does allow camping chairs in line for something like this? Do they also tape up queue lines?

Has anyone changed hour early they plan to arrive with the park opening set for 6 am?

They have not announced If they are or aren't allowing overnight queuing.
For sww they allowed chairs, small tents, sleeping bags, you would need to take them back to your car before they opened the park.
As far as tape, if they are allowing queuing they will have ropes or tape.
As of today and without knowing what Disney's plan is, I'm thinking of being at dhs at midnight

I will be thinking of you, asleep in your comfy bed, while I am camping out on the hard concrete at D23 Expo. The next weekend, you can think of me asleep in a comfy bed while you camp out;)
