Disneyland Paris in the rain

We are still about a week away, but it looks like we may get rain during our visit.

How is the park when it rains, are most rides open? Closed?

Just want to set expectations!

Thanks

DLP has very little rides which are only outdoor, Big Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones, RC racer, Pays des Conte Fees, Casey Junior and the shows might be effected. Things like the river boat usually stay open.

Just get a poncho and keep going, rain is great to keep the locals away.

Perfect! I have no problem pushing through just wanted to make sure a lot of stuff didn’t close down.

BTM was open for us when it was raining, but I can't say I'd recommend riding it then. Being pelted in the face by raindrops isn't entirely pleasant. :teeth: We did ride Indiana Jones, too, and the night shows still ran. The walkways behind the Main Street shops are a great place to escape for a bit and wait for Illuminations.

It rained lightly the first few hours when I was there last summer. BTM remained open. The Indiana Jones coaster was closed. We just spent a lot of that time on the indoor attractions.

Perfect! Thank you so much! This is exactly what I wanted to hear! Hoping it improves as we are still a bit away but good to know I won’t be missing out to much. I’ll just ride phantom manor over and over again! :rotfl2:

Luckily, Paris was built with rain in mind... If you have a look around youtube, you'll find a handful of videos showing the so called "covered walkway" that gets you from Main Street round to (I think) at least Adventureland in way that's almost entirely covered from the rain. There's a few other (smaller) walkways to get you around other bits of the park in the dry as well.

Yes, via the arcade on the left (when facing the castle), you can walk to the entrances of Frontierland, Adventureland and Fantasyland almost fully covered.

As above, the 'covered walkway' is a must.
You do get some seriously heavy showers in DLP but there are plenty of areas to shelter.
Adventureland look gorgeous in the rain....very tropical pixiedust:

The weather difference between DLP and WDW is that when it rains in Florida, it's normally accompanied by thunder and lightning, which means rides have to close for safety reasons. While there are higher chances of rain in Paris by comparison, the chance of lightning is very low, so rides can stay open most of time.

Also in addition to previous poster, in Florida showers are short and usually intense (in summer / hurricane season at least). In Paris it can be drizzly all day, or heavy storms all day. It is not always a good strategy to go back to the hotel/restaurant and wait for the rain to pass, as sometimes it doesn't pass.

Also, as a local, I would recommend wearing shoes and outfits designed for the rain. The DLP ponchos are expensive and in no way confortable to wear!

Rain coats are already packed.... it’s the rain shoes I’ve been debating....

I would also recommend taking warmer
clothes. Rain in Paris is not like rain in Florida - especially now it’s quite chilly - like my feet would be numb if I were in sandals today...

Oh we have warm shoes! Looking like we will have one day of bad rain... today ended up being beautiful, at least for us, so I’m hopeful!

We've been to DLP twice, and it rained (well, alternated between drizzle and rain) almost our whole visit both times. Nothing closed either time. As many above have said, very different from WDW rain that quits after a few minutes.
