The Music of Disney May Exercise Challenge

They have a nature reserve with a resident population (including sick and injured cranes that are being rehabilitated) and then wild cranes fly in and out as well. The first crane we saw at the reserve was a wild crane that was just hanging out.

Sailing up toward the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia. It’s definitely not hot here! 90 is nearly double what we have. But at least it’s sunny!

So we looked up the sanctuary and now my daughter wants to go there. The cranes are gorgeous! Thanks so much for mentioning this place. Maybe she'll get there one day.

No new color changes so far, but we are now only 397 minutes away from TEAM purple!

And since we're so close to a color change, I offer this upbeat number for our Disney song of the day:

"Almost There" is featured in the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog and was nominated for an Academy Award. Randy Newman is the composer, and Anika Noni Rose as Tiana is the vocalist. Below is an excerpt from an interview with Anika Noni Rose:

"There are two ways to take that song," Rose explained. "You can be almost there and be sad about it. Or you can be almost there and find the joy in the journey, and the joy in the steps that you have taken, and the joy in how far you have gone... Sometimes you're not quite touching it yet, but the fact that you have gotten yourself until the point that you are almost there means that you only have a couple more steps to go. Those steps may be be years or days or minutes and you never know. But there is a joy to knowing you're going to do it."

You can read the full article and interview here.

Congrats to Elizabeth Smith who danced her way to Pat on the Back Purple this weekend! :dancer::dancer::dancer:

And our TEAM is just 97 minutes away from purple, too. If each one of us contributes just 8.8 minutes each today, we'll hit that goal.

Today's song of the day was featured in a Disney Pixar short that aired with the 2015 film Inside Out. "Lava" is the title of both the song and the short and is a "musical love story taking place over millions of years that is inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes. The story follows the love story of two volcanoes, Uku and Lele." (Disney Fandom) The song features the voices of Kuana Torres Kahele and Napua Greig and is written by James Ford Murphy.

Hip hip hooray! MikeNamez has reached Pat on the Back Purple, and sophy1996 and Twilight Sparkle have reached Perfect Pitch Pink!!!! :figment::ccat::figment::ccat::figment::ccat:

Today's Disney song is Be Our Guest from the 1991 animated film Beauty and the Beast. This song made me a lifelong Disney fan. Before seeing that, I enjoyed Disney movies and music, but this particular song in this particular movie made me feel the magic of Disney down to my bones. Even at the jaded age of young adult, this number left me wholly mesmerized and enchanted. If only Be Our Guest restaurant in WDW would figure out a way to turn this song into a dinner musical spectacular in their venue, I would be chasing down that ADR in a heartbeat. Alan Menken and Howard Ashman wrote the song, and the vocal talents of Jerry Orbach and Angela Lansbury brought it to life.

Bonus: this behind the scenes video shows clips of Jerry Orbach and Angela Lansbury during their recording sessions for Be Our Guest:

Do you have a special song that made a Disney fan out of you? I would love to hear about it!

30 minutes in the garden this morning before the heat hit, then 60 minutes at the gym. (690/1000)
@sophy1996 , what a beautiful picture!! Your trip sounds wonderful!

Beauty and the Beast is so special for me - my daughter’s first Disney movie and her favorite. She wore her Belle costume till it fell off her! I’d love some sort of revue in Be Our Guest, too. I really dislike the way the Beast just pushes through on his way to the chair. It’s very unDisneylike and
un-enchanting.
I love the clip of the actors doing their parts, especially Jerry Ohrbach. I had the pleasure of seeing him on Broadway in 42nd Street - he was amazing! What a voice! He was a consummate stage actor.
I think the song that hooked me was Jiminy Cricket singing Encyclopedia. Lol!!! I still can’t spell that word without singing!!! The second is Someday My Prince Will Come- much to the dismay of my husband of 40 years!!! But I was quite young when I saw Snow White - rereleased ( I’m not that old!) and it just resonated with me.
On another note, is any one else missing Game of Thrones as much as I am?

Trying to get everything done before the big day?

You know it... Spring cleaning is finished! Everything else is all done and paid now we wait for 18 days. I feel like the last year has flew by because we have been so busy now these last few weeks are going to crawl!

Don't tell anybody but I'm just as excited for the 2 weeks in Disney/Universal to follow! lol

Adding 40 min of cardio on Monday
