Rainforest Cafe 16 oz beer not 16 ounces

Either the Mariner or Seahawks stadium got in trouble over this sort of thing a few years back, and had to change their cups.
Seems like yesterday but it was 2011, even our local arena got caught up in it, though not as bad as Safeco Field did but still. Though if you compared the MdDonald's Large vs Medium there isn't much difference there either. :(

Yup. Watch Bar Rescue on the Paramount Network. You really see how bars are able to squeeze more profit out of you with every drink they pour.
Ah Mr. Shut it down... haven't watched him in years. But you're right as long as they are honest and poor consistent I can handle it, it's the sloppy rip off places I can't stand.

Just to clarify - the draft was Safari Amber, so not high ABV. After pouring my bottled beer into the glass, which was the exact same size as her draft, they were both at the exact same level with little to no head, and almost to the top of the glass. There is no way it was a 16 oz glass.

We've already gone over this though (see earlier comments regarding foam/head aspect, etc); it may not be you were understanding what I'm saying because it's not about 'beers can be served in all types of glasses and sizes'.

I would say if people are really really really interested they could conduct their own field study. At places they go where they order beer, order both draft and then order bottle every time and measure each and every time over multiple establishments to compare the two. I'm guessing people will find inconsistencies all over.
Clearly I am missing something. I visit breweries weekly and travel to try new beers all over the country. If a server asks if you want 16 or 20 oz you assume that’s what you’re getting. Whether or not the restaurant is on the up and up RE: glass sizes or pours is one thing, but this doesn’t sound like a misunderstanding about type of beer or the size the received. Obviously draft pours can be all over the board but OP was pretty clear that his 12 oz. bottle and wife’s 16 oz pour filled the same size glass. That sounds messed up. Not sure what I’m missing or what your point is?

Breweries are not the same as restaurants or normal bars. Breweries are often flowing more easily with their alcohol.

And no I don't actually assume I'm getting 16 or 20oz in terms of liquid. If you're always expecting exactly 16oz then that might be the misconception involved. That's why I said for people to do their own field study.

I think you're getting confused as to what I was referring to in that comment regarding type of beer and what glass it can be served in. I gave examples of how different places handle things differently. I never stated the OP's issue was about misunderstanding what type of beer ordered and the type of glass it can be served in. Those were generalized comments on that part to say that places vary in how they operate.

As I said in this comment:
Looked it up because I thought that was more the case and found the following information: "A 14.5 oz. pour in a 16 oz. glass is standard (this allows for head). A 10 oz. pour is typically standard for beers with an alcohol content of 7% or higher."

Others have also talked about the size of the glass, especially in the U.S., not being reflective of actual 16oz nor being the same at each and every restaurant. It is however industry standard to sell in terms of 16oz or 20oz.

I'm not debating that the OP's wife was shorted because even 12 oz is lower than average. I'm simply saying this happens a lot--i.e. not getting exactly 16oz and there's a very good chance the OP's wife has ordered something in the past and this has happened before someplace. Or more or less it's not Rainforest Cafe issue (unless they are consistently pouring 12oz every single time then it's them being cheap lol).
