what in your childhood, signify that life was hitting on all cylinders ?

If you had one of these in your backyard, and was about to spend the afternoon in it, you were living a life of luxury, lol

My best days were when I would go get the newspaper at the corner store for my neighbor and he would give me enough extra money to buy myself a candy treat too. I loved that man. He would ask me to get him a newspaper and some milk - and “something small for for myself” two times a week. (We were very poor, but I never knew it until much later.) That man was a god-send to my elementary-aged self. He made me feel important and valued - and I little bit spoiled. :lovestruc

When my parents would take me to Burger King or McDonald's as a treat, not like today a kid can go every day lol.

Or when my grandfather was alive and I would sit in back of his taxi and we would go get ice cream or go to Hardee's and get a meal with a cartoon character on the glass.

Around the third week of June, school was getting out and you had the whole summer ahead of you to spend with your friends, riding bikes and hanging out. The July 4th parade and fair were just around the corner. We would often go to the town recreation program (arts and crafts, games, archery, etc) in the mornings, and the town pool in the afternoons. Those years under age 13, before work got in the way, were magical and still hold a lot of fond memories.

We would go twice a year. We we would go school clothes shopping or summer clothes shopping. And on the rare occasion we would have a softball tournament and need to eat :) Our ice cream treat would come when we would be driving to my grandmothers and we would sometimes stop at Dairy Queen and get a dipped cone.

Ok, we knew we had it good when my Dad would decided he wanted to eat at Bonanza. We loved the big white faced cow on the roof! Sometimes, afterwards, we would stop and watch the planes land at Hobby Airport

swinging on our backyard swing set. We would go so high the back post would come out and thump back down. We would lean way back and laugh and laugh. When we needed a snack, it was lemonade made from a powdered mix and oreos. Life was good.......

At our local drug store, which had an ice cream fountain, 25 cents would get you a chocolate milk shake. If we were 'rich' that day, 30 cents would get you a chocolate malt. Also, 5 cents could get you a chocolate phosphate, but if 'rich', 7 cents would get you a coke, made with coke syrup and seltzer water. One more...7 cents would get you a fudgesicle, if 'rich, 10 cents would get you a real ice cream bar.
