I've got an AMEX Plat Uber credit question. Typically I buy Uber GCs and load them to my account, and I was trying to figure out how the credit played into that. This is all I'm having luck finding, a comment from Doc:

I have Uber gift cards and the “Amex Premium” in my Uber cash. I guess I’m lucky that my rides so far have taken from the Amex credit before gift cards. Haven’t done anything special and wish I knew how to help you guys, but just letting you know it’s possible.

Does anyone else have experience with this to confirm? I'd be really annoyed if we did get a Plat but me having a $58 balance in there right now meant I missed an AMEX credit, ya know?

You just add your Amex Plat to the Uber app, and your monthly credit ($15/month, $30 in December) should deposit automatically on the 1st of each month. The Amex Plat monthly credit and Uber GCs, and any local offer credits, get loaded into "Uber Cash." You need to select payment with Uber Cash when hailing a ride, or the app will charge your default credit card. IME, Uber Cash deducts from the Plat credits first, then Uber GCs, then any credits from Visa local offers.

ETA: Note that the Uber credit is on the personal Platinums only, not on the Biz Plat.

I just added some pics and a mini-review of our Park Hyatt NYC stay on the hotel thread, in case anyone is interested. It was a great stay there, and definitely made it much harder for us when we switched to a place in Philadelphia that couldn't compare (honestly I hated it, but perhaps coming from the PH made me much more picky than usual - I always try to "move up" not down but that wasn't possible on this trip).

The TWA Hotel at JFK? Can't get much closer to JFK, and I would totally cash out some URs to stay here!

This place is so cool. I flew in and out of that terminal many times as a kid. We saw it when we exited JFK (Jet Blue's exit was right there next to this place) but it wasn't open 10 days ago. Just missed it, but here's my pic.

June- 10 nights in FL- 1 night Hyatt at the airport, 3 nights Sheraton Clearwater Beach, 3 nights Renaissance at SeaWorld, 3 nights at RPR Club level- OOP- $531 for 3 nights at Renaissance and $225 for SeaWorld/Aquatica tickets on Daily Getaways. Flights, car rental and other hotels covered with points, already have Universal APs
July- 2 nights at GWL Williamsburg OOP, 5 nights at Courtyard VA Beach- on points

I could use my Arrival + bonuses to offset but I am saving them to say that our March 2020 cruise is free :)

aww @wendow - some people can be fashionistas while wearing a brown potato sack or a paper bag dress. Style is more than a brand name - it is carriage and a sense of presence that some people just have naturally. That big smile your pictures always have probably make people focus on it rather than what you are wearing.
Thank you @Judique! That’s the sweetest compliment

Hmmm just realized DH's Citi AA Biz 2 first statement closes June 6. Wonder if I can get his MSR done by then... he has a $300 hotel stay this weekend and I need to buy trip insurance for Disney which is looking to be about $350. Maybe I can try to make that happen so I can get us another DP/find out if we're going to have the miles we need to book in August.

For the record, I am not a fashionista LOL, I don't know anything about any of these brands :-) except what I read here and on Facebook.

Neither am I. I don’t know what the popular brands are unless I see them often on social media. I don’t care about looking stylish and will wear whatever style strikes my fancy at a given moment. One day I can look like I follow the fashion advice of Chanel and the next day I look like I raided Punky Brewster’s closet. Yes, I’m dating myself here.

Oh, and Rothy’s shoes. Everywhere. My wife has 6 pairs. :faint:

I have 4 pair---pale tan, medium gray, hot pink with pointed toes (love!), and blue & white patterned sneakers. Rothy's are so comfortable! I have super high arches yet am able to walk for miles in my Rothy's without any leg pain later. I can throw them into the wash whenever and the colors don't change. I hurt my left pinky toe last year by stubbing it on the table in a BRV living room and since then my foot doesn't like to bend when I wear heels. Rothy's are my go-to shoes when not wearing workout sneakers.

Next ones will be red

I trend way more toward Punky Brewster than Chanel. lol I think I'm in your date range.;-)

I think I got an updated privacy policy notice recently because I remembered thinking the same thing when I saw it in informed delivery. Also, bizarrely, I got a letter from Chase about something asinine on DH's account that said when they tried to email it to him, the email bounced back... it's the same email on both personal and business accounts and we only got the mailed letter on one account :confused3

That one had to be a glitch on Chase's part, I know we both got that and I think a few here have posted about it as well.

Capital One announced today that they are adding a GE or TSA pre credit to the Spark Miles card.

My whole family has precheck or GE. I have precheck ( 3/2017) which will be good until 2022, I think:rolleyes:. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get myself GE. We will have a trip to Aruba 2020. No other international travel in our plans but who knows. :ssst:

Even jeans are a huge pain.
I'm just glad I got DH out of lighter wash carpenter style jeans. Seriously, I never cared if he wanted to wear them weekends/casually etc, but when he got his current job I put my foot down. It's semi-casual, so mostly he wears jeans and a polo or dress shirt, sometimes a tshirt even. But I told him he needed to buy a regular style jean in a darker wash for that :rotfl: Now he doesn't like the carpenter style anymore anyways :confused3

Thanks! It makes me feel better to have someone confirm in real life on the disboards :P

Him buying dress clothes is the worst. He won't go alone, and also his neck size doesn't really match up with the torso sizing, so he has to go up so we look for the slim fit shirts. And then he gets all weird about the colors. Too light. Too dark. Shopping for a wedding shirt, he wanted blue. "That one is like frat boy blue. That one is like first engineering job blue." THOSE ARE NOT REAL COLORS!!

Let me guess!

They also tend to be lower quality. We picked up some Hunter stuff for our kiddo last year and we’re really disappointed by the quality of the boots. And we weren’t the only ones. We found lots of complaints online. Not to mention Target itself ended up delaying then canceling the women’s tall rain boots because of quality control issues.

I think yes, these collaborations are priced about 20-40% lower than the co-brand’s usual pricing, so people go gaga over them because it’s still stamped with that brand’s label and offers different styles that fans of the brand won’t otherwise find. But buying resell is a bit silly because once the eBayers mark up their items you’re paying essentially the same price as buying from the brand name’s line itself, where the quality is usually much higher.

Exactly! The VV clothing items I picked up on Saturday definitely seem to be a lesser quality cotton. I have never seen clothes wrinkle so fast. The long blue / white skirt is thin fabric and it's not lined (definite no for me for a summer skirt!). The t-shirts seems thin. The pet stuff is nice -- my dog loves her new collar rosette and leash! The few clothing items I bought are going back, except for the navy blue / white dress, which *may* go back because it's a bit short on my almost 6' frame; I can pull it off, but sitting down will be a bit difficult lol! I wish I'd been able to stay in bed and sleep (I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep). I'm going to skip the next colab because I'd rather pay retail than deal with the crowds / very limited merchandise.

Just saw on the rumor and news board that the forum is getting updated this weekend and will go down at 3pm ET on Saturday:

https://www.disboards.com/threads/news-round-up-2019.3726636/page-479#post-60638750

Also for those that won't go read I saw this there -
mainly that it is designed with a priority on mobile devices. There are also many new features with this version of Xenforo, including expanded emojii options, enhanced editing features and better integration with social media among them.

I did ask if the emojis are in addition to what we have to make sure we aren't losing what we have or I know they'll be some

I see Rothys advertised daily, but I don't see them around here much. Allbirds are everywhere, though. I'm really not a fashionista with this stuff; my shopping buddy is more a Chanel/Prada type person and I consider her the fashionista. Even on clearance that stuff is way out of my comfort zone.

My wife had Allbirds before her Rothy’s. She still has them and wears them when she doesn’t want to get her Rothy’s dirty. (Although, like @LuckyMamaInDE said, they’re really easy to clean and they’re all holding up well). She says the Rothy’s (especially the loafer style) are the most comfortable shoes she’s ever worn, even more so than the Allbirds. Rothy’s are pretty expensive, but she swears they’re totally worth it. (But 6 pairs in different colors?) Upside is Rothy’s pays out 5% on Ebates, and she wears Rothy’s so often that she’s basically a walking advertisement for Rothy’s at work and she’s earned support clicks from quite a few of her co-workers.

Speaking of advertisement @mmmears, you’re totally right that Rothy’s social media advertising is scarily pervasive and effective!
