Transferring AP at Renewal

Hi, All,

I have a person on another social media board that insists that she has been able to transfer an AP to a different person at renewal time. She says she has done it in MDE when the renewal has been paid, but before the renewed pass was used by the original AP holder.

Is this really possible?

I've not heard of this.
It would seem unlikely.
(As a renewed AP would be a "continuation of an original existing AP,
and that original AP cannot be transferred to another guest.)

But, if you've got a renewal coming up, you can try it and see.

I agree with you. That’s what I tried to tell her, but she’s not budging. Oh, well.

And nobody gets my AP but me...

It might be true - I currently have an AP Renewal Certificate on my account but not yet activated. Beside my renewal is a drop down option to Reassign Ticket. It's not really transferring her AP but the renewal certificate.

You can give it a try, if you dare.

Maybe the system will let you buy a renewal voucher and then transfer it to someone who already HAS an AP? That might make sense.

But I 100% cannot see them allowing someone to pay the renewal rate, and then transfer the renewal to someone who does NOT have an AP. That would be a nifty way to avoid paying the full AP cost for a new pass :rolleyes1

True.

I renewed my grandmother's AP in April 2018 for our June 2018 trip. However, it was never activated as it was on that vacation she decided she preferred to split her time between our BLT villa and the Concourse at CR. Her AP renewal remained in my MDE as a renewal voucher. I was due to renew my AP this April and was able to reassign her renewal voucher to myself. I was able to make FP+ for myself, without issue, in April and the voucher is now linked to me. The option to reassign to no longer present.

Yup, that was my point with her. I think it may be one of those things that for whatever reason the "reassign" button seems to be activated on MDE, but if she tried it, it wouldn't work, unless the guest she is reassigning it to already has an AP, up for renewal. But I lost interest in arguing with her anyway... :)

But you did already have an AP, correct? If so, that makes sense. Glad it worked out that way for you (and grandma!).

But that is not transferring an AP to someone else. That is transferring an AP renewal voucher from one person who already had an AP to another person who also already had an AP.

Ah, very true! I must have misread the OP.
