Almost summer so maybe I can get back to being on here and playing this game proper. I'm working on finishing up my spend on my Delta Gold biz card right now and then it's back to earning those AA miles again. I've now been denied on the barlcay aviator biz twice. Grrrr! I guess I have to wait that one out longer.

I have the AA citi biz got it in October. So I'm guessing I should close that one out now. Did I read right? We don't need mailers anymore for that one? Do I have to call to cancel it I'm assuming. I don't have any reason to keep it w/ the barclay aviator personal giving me the free luggage and discount mileage. Is there any reason to not cancel it now vs later? I should hit my Delta spend possibly this month, if not next. What's the protocol these days on the AA Citi Biz? Obv I opened it more than 90 days ago.

I finally got my $750 from the Huntington bank offer. Now looking for the next bank bonus to run :)

Quick question. Waiting for my Chase Southwest card to arrive in the mail. Got in on the 60k points after spending 2k in 3 months. I was wondering how quickly the points will be added to my account. Kind of hoping to spend the 2k in the first month and a half, hoping I will have the points before Southwest releases flights for February/March.

My dh has been denied twice for the Barclay aviator biz as well. I'm going to just put that way on the back burner for now.

You can close your citi biz or keep it open and apply for another. I have two open right now (opened the second 95 days after the first). Lots of DP's of people holding more than one. I think I am going to close the first before I go for the third one.

There are DP's recently of some people not getting their points when opening another citi card and NOT using a mailer :( I did get my points but I'll be sticking to using a mailer from now on.

Yes, ABDs lol. I kinda don’t want to do any domestic after CA. I lived in NY so zero interest in that. I’m thinking of stuff I probably can’t/too scared to do on my own. China seems awesome and I want to do italy so bad but I was thinking I could do it on my own but it may just be easier to have Disney handle it lol. Have you done my short list Costa Rica, Galapagos, Vietnam, South Africa? I was thinking of those and China. But I may also only be able to afford a short escape. So I was thinking of doing the Rome and Paris or something.
For Costa Rica, try https://www.caravan.com/tour/costa-rica
Excellent tour company in business over 50 years. Everything about their tour was top notch from accommodations to the bus to the tour guide. We had an incident with one of the members of our tour being injured at the hotel. The guide took her to the hospital, stayed with her as an interpreter and the company sent another guide for our group. They also sent another guide to help the injured woman and make sure all was ok (she rejoined our group after 2 days and was fine. ) Caravan was not happy with the way the hotel handled the problem (it was a Doubletree) and subsequently pulled all their tours from that hotel. When we went, the tour included the east coast as well but it seems they no longer do that. You might want to add it depending on time of year as we were there during turtle hatching season. Caravan is an all inclusive tour, longer and cheaper than ABD. Best vacation I’ve ever taken.

Omg wow that’s a lot cheaper! I’m going to check them out! Thank you!

They charged me an "ANNUAL MEMEBERSHIP FEE" whatever that is lol. It is a horrible site and they obviously just don't care. @Lain suggested I buy a $1.00 amazon card for my Disney Premier upgrade to make "one purchase". Would that work for the Aviator employee cards as well?
I stole your idea :)
This is exactly what I was thinking. I told SO that they should have been doing this ages ago. I also think they should lower the price of food. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/25/sports/football/nfl-concessions.html Typically people will spend more money if they think they are getting a deal. Especially soft drinks. I'm pretty sure that costs Disney nothing. I typically never drink beverages and just get water but if Disney had a large lemonade for $1 or $2. Id would be getting multiple on a hot summer day. At $4 or whatever I won't buy any lol.
That was an interesting article. I read one a couple years ago probably about how they will charge whatever makes the most overall...
For example:
At $1 200 sodas are sold = $200
At $2 150 sodas are sold = $300
At $3 90 sodas are sold = $270
At $4 75 sodas are sold = $300
At $5 50 sodas are sold = $250

Then they're going to sell them for $4. That makes them the most, because it is half the cost of selling for $2 since they're only using half the cups.

I am following your story closely as I just received my JetBlue biz. I already have an aviator biz. I successfully activated and made a few purchases, but who knows what will happen. When did you notice you couldn’t use the card?

I was never able to make any purchases. First time I tried it was denied. It was online so I thought maybe it was a security thing, but then also got denied at the grocery store. So I called. That's when I was told my account was on hold and they needed verification. So you should be good if you've already been able to make purchases. I hope so anyway!

Double checked....no authorized users but yes, logged into my husbands account. I can see the "Refer a Friend" above the transactions section for both the Bonvoy and Marriott Biz, but not for the Hilton Acsend Biz. Downloaded the app just to check. Again, under Account, sure enough, refer a friend and refer a business are under the Bonvoy and Marriott Biz, but that section isn't available for the Hilton card.

You can try the AmEx refer a friend site:

http://www.americanexpress.com/refer

Login, then see if the Hilton card shows up as one you can select.

Hmm interesting. Disney does give the cups of water away for free so idk how much they lose on the cups. I think if your above was true I’d pick option 2. Because while you are using more cups you are making the same amount of money and it costs half the price for guests. I bet guest satisfaction would be better and then people would be talking about how inexpensive everything was. right now the publicity surrounding disney is really how expensive everything is.

Yeah this is getting them ready for Florida. They look super sleepy and are just laying anywhere on the floor right now. We'll see how they feel tomorrow after I give them the second one. One of them meows really loud and is skittish so I'm hoping this will help calm him down a lot. What's funny is this is the same medicine Dh takes for his back pain, but the cat kind you break apart and pour the powder on their food.
You could try half the dose to see if they are calm, but not knocked out.
They have a real classy retro 1990s style website for you: https://aviatorbusinesscard.com

:rotfl2:

WOW.

I mean, I've seen everyone talk about how bad it is, but nothing really prepares you.
Soo bad. Be careful to check which “account” you are looking at. There’s a toggle at the top because even if you have no employee cards, there is a “company account” and “person account”. I almost made a payment late because it kept saying 0 balance until I clicked over to the other tab.
But at least once you get on their site, you are living in the year 2019 :thumbsup2 HAHA!
Or at least 2017.

yeah that part really baffles me! Almost caught me too, couldn't figure out why my balance was lower than it should have been, and didn't show the annual fee. That site is the worst!!

I agree. The money made is similar and the guest satisfaction would be much higher.

What really tripped me up on the Barclay aviator site was setting up autopay. I could not figure out how to add my bank. You normally add it from the page where you click to set up autopay. Go to that page and it tells you to add a bank. I was clicking everywhere and trying different browsers thinking the browser was messing up their page. I SM'ed Barclay. No response  I decided to ask my dh for help but I kept forgetting and life was busy. I missed the payment date but paid the next day. I SM'ed Barclay and told them I could never figure out the autopay and they had responded to my message and asked them to waive the late fee. They actually did but again with no response. Anyways, finally figured out you have to go into your 'profile' and add a bank that way. So weird and messed up and different than anyone else does things.

BOA card has a weird thing with adding an account and paying from it. The website glitches sometimes and won’t give me the option to pay from my Chase checking. It wants me to pay from a BOA account that is closed. One month, I couldn’t get it to work at all, so I added it to MyCheckFree account to pay it. Other months I can pay from the app no problem. So odd.

At $32K right now for our solar shingled roof, no cc  Insurance paid a chunk (roof totaled in a wind storm last August), but still.

You can bet I will check which places/contractors take cc when we get to remodeling the kitchen in a few years!

I'm so curious about the solar shingles. Would love to see a photo of it! We are finally at the break even point for our solar panels, so I won't be changing them any time soon, but they are pretty unattractive. What happens if one shingle gets damaged?

I think @CyndiLouWho's Caravan suggestion is a good one (and that looks like a fun itinerary), especially compared to ABD's price tag.* For me, I like DIY planning so that's how we've done CR on our past trips and have had a blast. No matter which way you go, CR is a fantastic place to visit! There's a ton to see and do.

*I did an 10 day trip to CR for 3 people (but it was in 2013), all-inclusive including airfare, for the price of 1 person on ABD.

I’m so nervous to plan my own trips. The only trips I have planned were Disney trips lol and that’s easy lol
