Sign up on the fairy godmailer list and ask a family that is going to WDW ahead of you to send your child a postcard from his/her favorite character. They will write whatever you ask them to, and it's fun to see your child's eyes light up when they get mail from their favorite character inviting...

We use this for my son's school. I always put down that I CAN pay for 100% because we can of course or we wouldn't be sending him to a private high school. But we usually get $1250 a year(based on my husband's income) from TADS which helps alot.
