    DAS changes coming WDW

We've renewed via video twice, and I agree we had to explain the needs each time, but it was still evident in how the CM interacted that they could see something on their end. (We haven't renewed in the parks since pre covid)

    DAS changes coming WDW

It has been clear when we've renewed DAS for DD that they have some level of notes or references in their system.

oh please know that wasn't a comment towards how the moderators have been handling this thread at all! You've all been doing a thankless and incredible job following this behemoth of a thread.

It's bad enough that they require purchasing tickets and everything prior to the DAS interview. But given the sweeping changes they're making, this is a poor way to handle their international guests. I know other nation's laws play a part in this, but is there really no way they can work...

    DAS changes coming WDW

I would agree with this statement, and yet - there are countless posts in this thread making such judgments and assumptions of DAS users. So if this statement is going to be true, it's true for all guests.

Let's be honest - Disney doesn't want people in its walkways doing nothing. That doesn't help their bottom line OR guest satisfaction.

and that is the major problem and why this thread is as long as it is :)

Even if we were denied DAS we would not be able to zigzag. Genie+ or not. It's not a "want to tour this way", it's a need.

    DAS changes coming WDW

I don't care how other individuals rhink. I care about society as a whole however because a minimally speaking child like mine is facing so much systemic ableism and impediments, that in order for her to "live a life like mine" (taking the quote from The Arc), many of those systemic barriers...

And had Disney been prudent with their announcement, they would have released enough information to quash a lot of the anxiety being shared here. It's hard to adapt to something when you don't yet know what that something will be. I don't blame people who have used DAS for UC/crohns, IBS/IBD...

Inspire health alliance is training CMs, and is available beyond that for some consults. There's no indication that inspire health alliance is overseeing every determination for DAS.

And yet they can't deny AP holders from holding DAS, so there's no way to prevent this.

Not sure allergies are really the analogy you want here. While we have had fantastic experiences with many restaurants at WDW and DLR, we've also paid $30+ for DD to eat at the Plaza Inn and have her only be able to eat sausage and fresh fruit. No waffles (they didn't have the gluten free ones...

    DAS changes coming WDW

The longest trip we've attempted is 7.5 hrs total (according to gps). With necessary stops it's closer to a 9-ish hour drive. We could only really do 4-4.5 hrs in a day for this trip. It's more than we could do when DD was younger, but not enough to make driving for longer distances really...

    DAS changes coming WDW

We would certainly still go to more local theme parks still and they're less accessible, but the added cost of airfare (and the challenges of flying) and hotel to go to FL would have us rethinking destinations.

Don't get me wrong for the most part we enjoyed what we did (Mario kart being the biggest exception). WWoHP was fun and she could do both of those rides (and loved them). There were just large portions we couldn't do. It's not worth the money to pay for the full day at a theme park when you...

only problem is universal is, overall, a much less accessible park. If it ever came to a point where we decided we couldn't do Disney because DD's needs weren't being met, we would just be done with going to Florida. I posted here about our experience in Universal Hollywood yesterday. there's...

Basically? I don't work, because I can't. DD's schedule of therapies doesn't allow it, at least currently. Everything I made would be paying for a caregiver to take her to what I do. We don't have family in the area. We don't have respite. Medicaid waivers are a cluster in our state. The...

    DAS changes coming WDW

My child is not autistic, but has a developmental disability. As a party of 3, her separating from the other parent for an extended period would cause additional issues. It's difficult to explain without giving others a roadmap to abuse, but she requires access to both of us for a variety of...

As has been covered in this thread, by and large IBCCES is not verifying that the doctor's note is valid. They do ask for a doctor's name and a certain ID number (which IBCCES links to the database to find during the application process, so you don't need the doctor to provide it), but they...
