Do you pay someone to clean your home? If so, I have some questions!

Another MA person. have recently had to hire cleaning company due to health issues. I pay $114. It's biweekly and two people come in and clean the house over 2 hours. The cleaners are bonded and insured for workers comp. They do a decent job but I can do (or could do before this) it better in 3...

Just back from alimony court and owe husband

Well, that happened to me over 7 years ago. I had full custody of daughter, my ex had always choosen to work in a job that didn't pay much and wasn't a full time job. When we divorced, I had to buy him out for part of the house (paid for entirely by me and documented that it was paid for soley...

Would you let your 8 year old DD attend?

I would let DD attend. On a side note, DD's school does this trip every year. She went last year and it was a BLAST! It is so much fun and it's the big thing that is talked about by all the kids...they can't wait for 5th grade to go. All the parents jockey for chaperone status not because we...

Do your kids have to order off the kids

DD has been ordering from whatever she wants since she was old enough to pick what she wanted to eat...about 2 years old. She's never been a fan of kids menus. We've always just asked for half-plates of the regular entrees or taken the left overs home.

I just remembered another good one in the western part of MA -- Butternut in Great Barrington. Nice little ski mountain and really good tubing.

New England skiers...know any good place to take the kids tubing?

We don't head west but we do head north to Nashoba. They have some excellent tubing there -- 15 lanes and 3 lifts. Two hours for $20. It's terrific!

Pats - Giants game not on TV

I'll say! Every time you've turned on Channel 5 for the past 3 weeks they've been hyping this. It feels like they mention it every 30 seconds during the news cast and show an ad for it at least once every 30 minutes!

Some questions for those who work from home

When I worked from home I would not only get dressed to "go to work" but I'd actually leave the house in the morning. I'd walk down to the corner store and buy a paper, then come back and go right to my office. That way I felt like I was actually "leaving" one part of my day and "entering" the...

Anyone know anything about LL Bean sleds?

Wow...we didn't have that experience. You should call them up. They are usually very good about replacing things that don't meet your (or their) satisfaction.

Anyone know anything about LL Bean sleds?

I got DD one like this last year from LLBean. I think we paid about the same. They had some like it at Target last year and they were about the same price. It is really lightweight so it's good for hauling back up the hill -- especially if they are young or little (size-wise). If they are...

    Towns Around Boston

If you think he will be in the Mansfield/Taunton/Wareham area why not look in Mansfield? The commuter rail there has many express trains into South Station that take less than 30 minutes to get there from Mansfield. It might be a good alternative. Especially if he may be going to Wareham...that...

Were you in a sorority or fraternity?

Alpha Phi, Alpha Chapter And to answer the OP's other questions... I have never regretted it. It helped me be active and involved in my campus through student government, the Panhellenic and InterFraternity Councils as well as in the Northeast region for Panhell and IFC. I met many people...

If I ever get a dog I want one of these

Our next door neighbor has one. Cute dog...they got him from a breeder in the midwest. Has some stomach issues but otherwise a sweetheart. The one drawback -- barking. She barks morning, noon and night. Sees a bird -- barks. Someone gets up from the couch -- barks. A breeze blows by -- barks...

MA DISers: Need idea for overnight anniversary get-away!

If you do go the Boston route, may I recommend staying in Cambridge at The Kendall Hotel http://www.kendallhotel.com/ It is like a B&B -- small, personal -- but is a hotel. We stayed there one year for the July 4th celebrations and it was terrific! And it's right on the Red Line for easy T...

For TEACHERS: How do u incorporate Disney into teaching???

Daxx, The bolded area in the assignment you talked about is where I have a problem. I can see the value of associating the imaginary creatures with creatures they have seen, identifying what's real and what's imaginary but the assignment is where I draw the line. Why is the assignment, "draw...

For TEACHERS: How do u incorporate Disney into teaching???

Actually not all children like Disney just as not all children like Harry Potter. Sure, the 10 boys in DD's 4th grade class were way into HP but the 12 girls could have cared less about him, Ron, and Hermione. DD read the first one and said "I'm not into this type of fiction" and went back to...

For TEACHERS: How do u incorporate Disney into teaching???

It does make sense. You are not the only one. I don't know that I'd complain to the principal or school committee but I'd certainly ask the teacher why Disney was included in the lesson plan to understand the value of it in my DD's everyday learning. I have a problem with all commercialization...
