Things you said as a kid (maybe kids still do)

Oh geez, I was a teen in the late-80's, so there's probably a lot... "No duh." "Sike!" "Totally!" "Don't be such a spaz." "Bite me" Last week, I somehow ended up explaining to my teen daughter that when I was younger, if you were dating someone you were "going with" them. Then that turned...

Do you have people who have died still on your contact list

My MIL. She's been gone for about 4.5 years. I still have all of her texts too.

Top 3 things you remember about kindergarten ?

    1. My grandma would walk me to/from school and on the way home, we always stopped for a treat. 2. The metal slide in the playground that was 9 million degrees by 10am. 3. The row of art easels and paint jars. I'd spend forever there. Oddly, I don't remember any of the kids or the teachers.

What alcohol did you buy for the Holidays?

Several bottles of red and white wine was all I purchased specifically for the holiday. But we have a small stocked bar with things like vodka, bourbon and rum already, so we didn't need much.

One food you could eat every day and not get tired of

Chocolate for me too. Actually, I would have a hard time remembering a day where I didn't have at least a piece of something chocolate...

You don't give appreciation for Christmas and birthday gifts? You're getting coal!

I guess I feel a little differently...I don't give a gift and wait to be "appropriately thanked"...I just give a gift because I want the other person to know I thought of them. It doesn't really offend me if I don't get a thank you. However, I will say, I've learned over the years that there...

Do you look younger or older than your age?

I'm 45 and although I don't think I look bad for 45, I still think I look 45. No one is mistaking me for a 20-something anymore and the only places I get carded are the places that are required to card everyone... I have minimal lines and wrinkles on my face and fairly good skin, but I've also...

    Rate your childhood

Maybe a 4 or a 5? I had a really good younger childhood, but then my grandmother passed away (she was my primary caregiver until I was 10) and my mother remarried and he was abusive...so it was downhill through my teens. But as @leebee said, I learned what kind of parent I did NOT want to be...

    Reprise: Horrible Halloween Candy

Popcorn balls always ranked pretty high on the "let's not bother with that house next year" list. Also the pieces of wrapped hard candies like butterscotch or root beer barrels.

    S/O - UPLIFTING Movies

If you haven’t seen Won’t You Be My Neighbor (a documentary about Mr Rogers), it’s worth a peek and will leave you feeling pretty warm and fuzzy.

    Movies you just can't watch

I generally don’t do any kind of scary or violent films. Too much violence in the world as it is - I don’t need to watch it for entertainment. As far as movies I’ve seen and won’t ever again: Silence of the Lambs, Seven Pounds (Will Smith movie)...

Have you been to Iceland? Must sees?

Have you been to Iceland? Must sees?

Just booked a 5 night trip to Iceland for mid-October with my three children (13 to 18 years old). It’s been a bucket list item for us for a few years, so we took the leap! We are researching and reading on the must do’s, but first hand information is always more helpful. Anything you loved...

What ever happen to (Disers) you havent heard from in over a year

Wow, this thread is kinda making me a little sad! Lots of posters I recognize that have stopped. It’s only been a couple of months, so it doesn’t fit your year criteria, but @Gumbo4x4 just disappeared....he was here every day and I’ve wondered several times where he went.

What is the oldest person you would date?

I’m 45, and I think I could go up to 55...maybe. At some point, you lose the ability to connect on common “time in history” type memories - like popular music at a certain time of your life or pop culture references etc - that add some fun dimension and relatability to a relationship. I’m not...

If you were single , what is the youngest person you would date?

I’m 45 and I’ve never had much interest in men younger than me, so I don’t think I’d go much less than my age...maybe 42 or 43?

    Not sure what to do

I’d send the card. If you are well-meaning in your intent, it’s not your problem if they let it bother them. ...and honestly, how petty would you have to be to get angry that someone sent you a sympathy card when one of your parents died?
