AirCanada/Aeroplan miles - anyone used them recently?

Not absolutely recently, but I was able to get a Black Friday deal booking with Aeroplan points. Only half the cost in points.

Re-entering Canada Through Port of Vancouver?

Does anyone have the experience of re-entering Canada through the port of Vancouver after a cruise to a number of different countries? I want to know how long it took to get through customs at the port. (We took a similar cruise years ago, returning to San Diego, and the port experience was a...

    Quick Airalo Question Please!

Haven’t purchased my eSIM from Airalo yet, so I don’t feel I can give you a definite answer—but Airalo does have a short video on You Tube with information about this exact topic, giving step-by-step instructions on how to check for the information you want.

OT: ArriveCAN before cruise starting from Canadian Port?

It just seems so counterintuitive! Thanks for the confirmation.

OT: ArriveCAN before cruise starting from Canadian Port?

We are Canadian and booked on a cruise that starts in Canada, goes to some Canadian ports, then to some US ports. The cruise ends in the US. Of course, we have to complete ArriveCAN before we fly home. But, our cruise company seems to want us to complete ArriveCAN before we embark from...

Where to get rolls of US coins in GTA??

Coins are hard to find. Does anyone in your family or circle of friends travel to the US frequently? You might be able to buy some change from them, but my guess would be they wouldn’t have rolls of change.

    Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Not aiming to be mean here, but remind him nicely that the gift of growing old is not given to all. My DH died at 61, but we had been travelling all we could from very early in our marriage. So happy I have those precious memories.

Nexus Offices Canada - Well, I guess this explains a few things...

Saw the article in the paper this morning too. I was left wondering if the US officers get a higher rate of pay if they are armed.

Question - What IF Luggage is Not on Carousel at MCO

I now take a photo of every piece of checked luggage, so I can give an accurate description of all of them. Haven’t had stray luggage for a while, but in the bad old days, you used to be required to give a verbal description to the people at the delayed luggage counter.

    Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Was there once with DH. Being a boy from western Canada, it was the fulfillment of one of his childhood dreams.

    Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Not sure if this has already been mentioned. Air Miles has a Disneyland contest for Gold and Onyx members ending at 11:59 p.m. tonight. Prize is a trip to Disneyland for four.

    Anyone else have travel anxiety?

Plan. A lot. Then when I find a vacation I like, I repeat it. The repetition helps. I also enjoy killing the anxiety with cold, hard cash. Most recently, I fly business class. Not a solution for everyone, but it works for me.

ArriveCan: NEXUS holder travelling with non-Nexus?

It’s been a very long time since either of us has flown with anyone. Usually we accompany another friend using a wheelchair. Pre-Covid (and pre-ArriveCan) we found that because of the many procedures involved in getting someone in a wheelchair through an airport (especially through Customs...

ArriveCan: NEXUS holder travelling with non-Nexus?

I have a cruise scheduled this year, travelling with a friend. My travelling buddy is a bit tech-averse, and does not have either NEXUS (and it’s way too late to get it), or a smartphone. Post-cruise we are flying back to Canada from FLL. Am I right in thinking that I’ll have to add my...

Air Canada - Trying to figure out where drop-off is and how to receive notifications

Not the most tech-savvy person here, but in my experience of AC, they are consistently unreliable when it comes to notifying passengers of schedule changes. I suggest you check the schedule frequently, especially approaching your departure date.

    Air Canada Child Meal Domestic/US

I was last on Air Canada’s Canada-US Business Class flights in April this year so this is likely out of date. Covid has affected both in-air Business Class meals and food offered in the Maple Leaf lounge. In air, there are more prepared, pre-wrapped items served. Rolls and nuts, for example...

    Changing planes at YVR?

We are going to change planes from a domestic to an international (non-US) flight at YVR. Staying with the same airline for both flights. I believe our luggage will be checked through to our final destination. About how long should the process take? Do we have to go through Security again?

Your experience as Canadians on an Alaskan cruise - what did you appreciate?

I was on an Alaska cruise pre-Covid on HAL. We were on a 14 day itinerary, out of Seattle. Following the advice of a friend who had previously done a 7 day cruise, we chose to cruise in July, more expensive, but better for wildlife sighting, which was part of our motivation for going. I would...

    Cruise Ship Etiquette?

Worst thing I’ve ever seen on a cruise was a young (8 ?) boy who threw a major temper tantrum in a public area. He actually threw himself on the floor and kicked his heels. His poor mother was right there and did nothing except look embarrassed. My best friend is a retired teacher, so she...
